Sorry @Bruce_F we generally see eye to eye on many shows....but Meredith is dead right on this one. Derick is being a tad bit manipulative to constantly hammer home how Meredith can't have it all. IMO we women can and should.....just because we bear children, does not mean that we have to sacrifice our careers and aspirations for ourselves....this storyline is really great, as it explores gender equality in the household and really looks at what that means for both men and women. It explores the sacrifices and overall triumphs it takes to raise a family now a days with two career driven folks at the head of the house. It is no longer a Man's World....it is a Peoples world.
If it were me, arguing would be the least of Derick's troubles!
If that's truly the story they are telling. Than it's more than poorly executed. I can understand that Meredith had a little bit of a meltdown, with her half-sister. But in the 30 days of the Calzona episode, she was out getting drunk with Callie. Why not portray her as a woman who does research or searches for something to advance her career? And of course, telling everyone in the sneak peak that she is still hating on Maggie? Come on.... But who knows, maybe the writers can convince me in this Episode. Because the theme, is very interesting and a great problem in many families with children and two working parents. So far S11 is great, no question about it, but I can't get in sync with Meredith for some reason. Maybe I'm still missing Cristina. :(
You have just articulated my point perfectly. Meredith can be a person outside of her marriage.
Asking the question: "But in the 30 days of the Calzona episode, she was out getting drunk with Callie. Why not portray her as a woman who does research or searches for something to advance her career?"
Having friendships and interests outside of ones marriage is healthy....it takes more then thirty days to come up with cogent research. Also remember that Callie and Meredith did devise revolutionary surgery during one of their bar moments.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Ugh. Meredith is like nails on a chalkboard this season. Maybe if they keep her drunk at a bar with Callie she'll be tolerable again.

I agree. She is selfish and only cares abt herself. She hasn't even been nice to Derrick this season lol! She's miserable without her girl!!!!
