After last week’s cliff-hanger, the question truly remained. Where exactly is Tom Miller? This episode opens with most of the police force, and some of the town searching for him in the dead of the night. It only took 6 minutes into the episode for Paul to stumble across Tom hiding behind a tree. This is what really got me; Paul was acting as if he knew where Tom was. He wondered of from the rest of the search party, and slowly began to stop. Also what was that item he pulled out his pocket? Was it a compass, because if it was why would he need one unless he knew exactly where Tom was, maybe because he left him there? I have always had suspicions regarding the reverend, and this episode only increased them.
Another troubling resident is Susan wright, she like Paul is extremely creepy, and this episode just proves that even further. She goes over to Tom's house, and gives him Danny's skateboard. She assumed it would be a way of getting herself clear of all the evidence, only it didn't really work, as she previously gave Tom her name. I am not understanding this at all, why she would just hand over something that is potentially evidence that can be used against her over to the detectives son. She does eventually get arrested, but not before stopping into the paper to pay a visit to Kathy. Kathy has been investigating into Susan, or should I say Ruth after she found out that Susan wasn't her real name. Why does it seem like all the people who have had miserable pasts end up in Gracepoint? Once at the police station she refuses to talk to the detectives as her dog Archie is missing; Vince took him. Speaking of Vince I reckon he was the hooded figure outside the cabin, and Susan will eventually pin the blame on him probably because he doesn't want anything to do with her. I also think she is his mother or a relative of his, as she seems way too interested in him. The hood figure managed to escape Carver, and Miller, and if you look closely it did appear to be a man with very little hair. I have no clue why anybody would need to go back there especially after all the evidence had been cleaned, and probably put into storage. Unless the hooded figure was going there to plant evidence. When the hooded figure bursts out of the cabin carver and Miller pursue them. It's not long before Carver collapses again. He really needs to quit with this now, he needs to slow down as sooner or later he is going to end up killing himself before he has had the chance to catch the killer. What is baffling though is why didn't Miller and Carver call for backup. If you thought the killer you have been searching for, for months was within your grasp why would you not call every available officer? It doesn't make sense.
Elsewhere in the episode, we spend a bit more time with the Solano family. This episode they actually acted like a normal family again, by going bowling. They looked like they were having a blast, and Beth also sneaked in a "It's good for the baby" line. This must mean she is keeping the baby. Keeping it is probably the right decision, as they can at least have something to look forward to, and it will stop all these arguments between them that we keep seeing. Tom Miller is also seen destroying his laptop, after he rings Owen, and asks about if deleted data can be retrieved. What is annoying is that we still don't know what he is hiding on his computer, which I have now been left wondering for several episodes. It is obviously something related to Danny, but at this point I just want to know what its about. I should also add that Renee Clemons shows up again, after I thought the show finally got rid of her. I really dislike the character, always going after a story no matter who she ends up hurting. It didn't come as a surprise that she turned up when Tom went missing, probably to get a scoop to write an article. Points go out to Owen, as I thought once he found out she was back in town he would go running back to her like a puppy. I am glad he didn't.
Prime Suspect
There is no prime suspect this week, as it's a two way tie between Susan, and Paul. They both were equally creepy this episode, and both had secrets that got revealed. Both of them have incriminating evidence that can go against them. They both know too much, and share very little.
Summary
It was a good episode, not the best I have seen. It did feel a bit rushed at times, especially the searching for Tom scenes. The suspicion rises over two of the residents in Gracepoint, each have been hiding something. You can definitely tell it's nearing the series end, as the drama is hotting up, and the episodes are becoming more intense. I really want to find out who killed Danny, I can't wait any longer.
As always , thank you for reading! Let me know in the comments what you thought of the episode!
