    I'm still not sure if I like the idea of future Batman and Catwoman already knowing each other, but am willing to let the writers tell their version of the tale and see how things go

    *sigh* Both Bruce and Selina's characters are well done, and I can see why so many people want to see them interact and watch their relationship develop. I get it. I also understand that the tv writers and producers will do what they want in the interests of the show's development. No surprise there.

    But believe it or not I am not one of those comic book purists that simply must have everything fall in place according to the comic. I for example really don't have much concern about Dr Leslie Thomkins becoming a romantic interest for Gordon. No biggie there. I also like the way they've developed Alfred: being a lot harsher and stricter in tone. It's like he's Dr. Frankenstein and Bruce is the monster he is creating that will one day slip from his control which he will then regret and try to repent for. Its brilliant stuff. I don't mind changes like that at all.

    BUT!!!

    Having young Bruce and Selina meet this early and develop some kind of relationship before they meet in costume and chase each other on the rooftops is a big mistake and a significant violation of the Batman/Catwoman mythology that is a sacred cow when it comes to the story of Batman.

    I have some degree of trust in the writers so far because up to this point the show has actually been quite good. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of the handling of the origin story. I would hope this will be a VERY limited interaction that doesn't repeat.

    Like I said I know why people want to see this but I would also hope that what they actually want to see is Batman and Catwoman. We're very, very much not there yet. I would have been so much better to have these two dance around each other unaware with the audience know what their futures hold. Using your imagination is possible even in TV, guys.

    Actually, on twitter, the overwhelming majority who I've talked to about this show have said they want to see Bruce and Selina more so than BatCat because they've seen BatCat interact plenty in movies. They've never seen young Bruce and Selina interact. I don't mind it. I'm actually hoping they form a friendship.
    And having them never meet and occasionally come close to meeting would piss off the majority of the fans unless the writers wrote them to never ever even be in the part of town.
    Yes, using your imagination is possible. That's why you should use your imagination to project how this alters the canon per the context of the show. Because this is not a direct prequel show to the comics. It's its own thing. That's why they even had Selina witness the Mr. and Mrs. Wayne getting killed.

    Making Bruce and Selina interact with each other at an earlier age is the least problematic thing Gotham has done to that universe and the mythos. If anything, it makes the future Batman/Catwoman relationship all the more interesting because already, it doesn't seem as if Catwoman ever truly be a "villain" in this universe.

    I'm not against the idea of Bruce and Selina teaming up and solving crime together but erm the actor who plays Bruce isn't really the strongest part of the show and maybe having an episode focussed on his character isn't the best idea. I may of course be proved wrong.

    Dude, chill! You know what a "show based on characters" is? You take the names and concept of a few characters and create your own story about them.


    This is like people pulling the "canon" excuse on Arrow when they already went too far from it in a lot of ways. Their canon is based on easter eggs and nods, but nothing more.


    They couldn't have 2 characters without meeting for 8 years just for the sake of canon. They're two diferent mediums and i love both in their own way. But on a tv show couldn't work... Especially if they're series regulars.


    Like i always say, this is just another universe on DC(you have the comics, the Arrow/Flash universe, the Gotham universe, the Constantine universe, the Nolan Trilogy Universe and the movie universe)... Perhaps some day they do a Crisis of Inifite Earths with the comic, tv show and movie universes clashing Jajaja

    For one, her name is Ivy Pepper to only place her in the family where the man, Mario Pepper, is falsely accused of being the Waynes' murder.


    And for two…just the idea of even placing her in that family just to force yet another character down our throats that doesn't even need to be shown is one of Gotham's weakest points. They could do wonders with a tighter script without trying to show this or that from the mythos. They don't have to get around to almost every character in the series.

    I never minded Nygma's role. It actually feels like a fresh take, especially considering the time Riddler was almost one of the good guys, so it's sorta of a turn of events where he's one of the good guys first, then villain later. This take on Ivy adds nothing except to be a forced easter egg or whatever you call a recurring character that feels nothing more than an extra.
