Too bad that Scandal wasn't adjusted up. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteNew series high for Mom!
ReplyDeleteAt this rate, Covert Affairs won't even get a final season to wrap things up.
Yes for Mom! OUTCH for Elementary, too bad bc the show is really great (well, syndication gods will demand a 4th season).
ReplyDeleteCBS is tanking hard this week with 10 pm dramas : NCIS LA (Monday) 1.5 A18-49, Stalker (Wed) 1.4 A18-49, Person of Interest (Tues) 1.3 A18-49 and now Elementary (Thurs) 1.0 A18-49.
Horrible numbers for elementary.Next week it will probably go below 1 considering it is going up against HTGAWM's mid-season finale which is hugely hyped.
ReplyDeletePer Joe Adlain:
ReplyDelete18-34
Scandal 2.7
TBBT 2.7
W18-34
Scandal: 4.0
TBBT: 2.9
M18-34
Scandal: 1.3
TBBT: 2.6
So, Scandal tied with TBBT for the youngest-skewing show of the week (I believe).
A beast, all things considered.
HTGAWM is eating the other networks alive.
ReplyDeletewhat!!! why TVD :(
ReplyDeleteAlright CBS, it's time to pull The McCarthys from the schedule. Forget TBBT repeats, Mom repeats could probably do as well.
ReplyDeleteYay Bones adjusted up!
ReplyDeleteElementary : 1.0, ouch !
ReplyDeleteI think Elementary could go below 1 next week. The week after next will be interesting to see if it does any better without the competition from HTGAWM.
ReplyDeleteSo in short Reign is standing there with five 0.4s and 2 0.5s, The 100 with a consistent 0.5 and JtV with a 0.6, two 0.4s and two 0.5s
ReplyDeleteThus:
Reign has a 0,4285 average
100 a solid 0,5 average
JtV a 0,48 average
of these three 100 has the stronges outlook of survival, JtV a close second and Reign falls behind (bear in mind that Reign has 2 episodes on JtV though)
CW is going to do the opposite and renew their lowest rated show.
ReplyDeletewas elementary preempted? HITGWM is killing elementary badly likely because they share the same auidence
ReplyDeletelistening to the shows fans it sounds that way
ReplyDeleteCBS was preempted in 2 markets.
ReplyDeleteSurprised TVD didn't adjust up. YIKES Elementary. Thank your lucky stars for that syndication deal.
ReplyDeleteand another tie between TVD and TO, I know that it's not a contest but it only proves that monday didn't hurt the show too bad :D
ReplyDeleteNope, there re other things to consider too. Reign has the most episodes, which seems like a huge deal for CW, if i remember correctly it had amazing online views last year and it seems to be important for CW too. Also, The 100 has the most successful lead in (Arrow), so it should have better numbers than Reign/Jane. All in all they all have low numbers and they all should be doing better. But there is still a possibility that they can all survive if Hod/BatB/iZombie/The Messengers are all cancelled. But there is also possibility that they all can get cancelled. It pretty much depends on their ratings in spring (The 100 will have small advantage here too, since it won't air episodes at the beginning of summer, when the rating are the lowest.
ReplyDeleteI just hope it goes up somehow maybe to 1.3 to 1.4 range again........can't say why the rating is so damn low it either competition or fans dislike Kitty
ReplyDeleteIt's hanging in there against tough competition. Mondays are rough.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Scandal did better than expected. (I thought it was going to be around 2.9-3.0 and then it would be 3.2-3.3 for the winter finale)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm I wonder what it will do next week.
How was the episode? Will watch it tomorrow
ReplyDeletedon't play the "amazing online views" card with me man, you don't get to play it until you actually know them. Execs use this excuse CONSTANTLY to cover up the actual reason behind a renewal (wich often is a done deal simply by money that was already invested into a certain product).
ReplyDeleteIf I don't get to use Reigns budget as a reason, the other numbers we don't know don't come to question either.
To your other points:
Reign might have more episodes, wich is neither an advantage or disadvantage. If they renew it they'll come up to mere 66 episodes wich isn't close to the syndication numbers networks are expecting. And let's not kid ourselves: a show heavily serialized won't find a syndication spot as easy as others would. If I was a network that needed filler material I would take MOTW heavy shows (Supernatural, Doctor Who, various comedies) stuff that is easy to get into. As things are right now I`d even take Tomorrow People (it's cheap because it's cancelled, has 22 filler worthy episodes, wich is better than 44 episodes that you have to watch in a row to understand) or The Flash (for the exactly same reasons)
Syndication is such a beautiful fan excuse bingo point that really makes no sense with shows like: TVD, TO and Reign
What I've seen from JtV is also falling under the "easy to air" area, although I'd probably wait and see where this show is going.
Hart of Dixie is another good example for shows that are easy to syndicate due to it's easy to understand nature.
I know it's unflattering but with syndication you will always have to assume that your audience consists on 80% casual viewers that either are sick at home, don't care WHAT they currently watch and aren't going to come back etc.
I'm glad that you didn't bring up the CBS argument, I regret having written that article at this point.
You see...it might be CBS property but of all the stuff they own they take the least ammount of money from it due to take5 taking quite a lot from the earnings as well.
If I was a mouse, I wouldn't share my cheese either
I don't dare to make a prediction since theCW has made decisions beyond my understanding but my prediction:
The 100: another 11 episode renewal, they have the benefit of not being bound to the 22 episode orders. The fandom is already used to it and might actually stick
Jane the Virgin: probably has another season on it's way because...look at it. It's such a cheap a** show, you have a cast you can easily downsize, fixed sets and probably aren't going to need any more.
Reign: 6 episode final season or can
^ don't take my word for granted, theCW is one flaky cow
I'm surprised tbh, the monday move was bold and pretty much showed that theCW had the show already written off.
ReplyDeleteTurns out they actually have a good shot of turning into a Castle for theCW (a safe pillar and solid lead in)
Exactly. Last year it was up against Scandal, and averaged a 1.7, so I have no clue why hardly no one is watching. It seems all the shows I am watching this year seem to be doing worse than last year. Sleepy Hollow, Person Of Interest, The 100 to name a few.
ReplyDeleteI was sure TVD would adjust up..
ReplyDeleteI hope next week HTGAWM reaches 3.0 again.
I would be happy if it happend that way in the end :)
ReplyDeleteI love all 3 so there is really no Win-Win situation for me
Even through Reign is my favorite, i would gladly accept final short season, if they promised us proper ending, same with The 100
And Jane is probably the biggest (positive) surprise of the season for me. It is something like Hart of Dixie - comedy and drama together with good cast and amazing lead actress, so i would be happy if it stayed around.
My wish would be if they cancelled 4 shows only , again : BatB, HoD (love it, but i feel like it is time for it to end), iZombie/The Messengers (i do not know which show will i like less) and one of Supernatural/The Vampire Diaries (both belonged to my favorite shows during their best season, but they are far from their best moments already, so i would not mind to see them go - but i woud need proper ending too )
It's a fairytale ending but it's theCW, maybe they actually do it. If one network is actually nice to its fans: it's them :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not invested in any of these shows and really wouldn't care if any of them left. However I feel like theCW has found its new niche, wich neither Reign or JtV work in.
I don't think that either SPN or TVD will go....I don't want SPN to end but TVD really needs to bite the bucket soon
I don't think Scandal audience don't share with elementary unlike HTGAWM where both are mystery/crime drama so that split the audience who are fans to choose one or the other.......
ReplyDeleteWow, TVD went down in total viewers and stayed flat on the demo. Look for it to do worse next week, given that this week's episode was horrible.
ReplyDeleteThe ending of each HTGAWM episodes are always cliffhangers or something big's revealed, making you dying to find out. Where as with Elementary nothing special is happening, just new cases weekly.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to see the three episodes of elementary early, but if I hadn't I probably would have watched Murder live, and DVR Elementary.
I don't think Elementary is going to change the ending to a shocker or a cliffhanger unless it is needed.......perhaps if Sherlock/Watson just become partners again fans will return. It likely people dislike Kitty ruining the partnership and choose not to watch live........
ReplyDeleteQuestion- Are all shows guaranteed syndication? Who says which show is wanted, which ones aren't? I know there are different types of syndication but I'm not familiar with how they work.
ReplyDeleteno show is ever guaranteed syndication.
ReplyDeleteNetworks like ION or TNT decide if a show is fit for becoming a part of their lineup, if they consider something fit they buy the rights and air it (usually as filler material)
Syndication has become the #1 excuse since Fringe
Thanks, I keep reading it in regards to Reign and I didn't understand if they were guaranteed syndication or if any network even wanted them for syndication. Not just them but other shows too.
ReplyDeleteOh no I don't expect Elementary to have shocking episode endings, I was just saying thats why people probably choose to watch HTGAWM over it. I don't really like Kitty that much to be honest, I just want it to go back to normal.
ReplyDeleteI still can't forgive the CW for not moving Reign to Mondays. Think it would be a much better fit than with the VD. JTV should've been there for mid-season and iZombie air after VD. Reign will most likely move to Fridays and open the slot for iZombie either way. But I still hope Reign will move to Mondays, jane to fridays and iZombie air Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteReign is just so dead. It's fandom has checked out. I would not be surprised if they hit a .3 before going on hiatus. I think TTP and JTV have far more upside and both have more critical acclaim. There's also the diversity factor. I think the CW will think long and hard before canceling JTV over Reign.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the people over 49 that watch Bones!!! I never miss it and WANT to be counted!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, it looks really bad for Covert Affairs. In a way I want it to finish because I have to admit I haven't enjoyed this season as much as previous seasons. Maybe they'll decided on a short final (6th Season) with 13 episodes like the network did with Burn Notice??
ReplyDeleteGiven that the crossover for NBC did so well, I'm wondering if ABC will consider doing a TGIT crossover event, which involves DC, Murder and the Hospital, culminating in an epic confrontation between Meredith Grey, Olivia Pope and Annaliese Keating. That's just my dream though.
ReplyDeleteWow another huge drop for Elementary :S
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for the series low on the #DelenaRainKiss episode,The Vampire Diaries!
ReplyDeleteDon't know if anyone is interested, but considering the CW's target demo, here are the W18-34 figures for this week:
ReplyDeleteTVD: 1.1
Flash: 1.1
SPN: 0.9
Originals: 0.7
Reign: 0.6
Jane: 0.6
Arrow: 0.5
The 100: 0.4
Was just looking at the W18-34 demo for the CW and for the past couple of eps of those shows, Reign and JtV both got 0.5 then 0.6, 100 got a 0.4 both weeks. Don't watch any of these 3 shows so don't care which lives or dies, but I figure this being the CW, the ratings they're getting in that demo will prob also be a key factor.
ReplyDeleteum I think moving originals to monday was a sign of their belief that originals was strong enough to start off the night for the cw
ReplyDeleteoh wow, tvd still reigns; had no idea that spn was that female skewing either
ReplyDeleteYep, as a TVD fan I was happy to see that! :) SPN didn't suprise me, bc I know it's always had a strong female fanbase, but I did think it was interesting to see how different the CW ratings picture looks viewed thru this demo. For e.g. people this week were talking about TVD and TO tying, bc in A18-49 they both got 0.7. But then you look at the W18-34 demo and there's a huge gap between them.
ReplyDeleteNot entirely sure about Murder but Shonda has said multiple times that GA and Scandal do not take place in the same universe. Some evidence of that would also be that Mer's dead mother is Sally Langstom on Scandal and her dad is the white house chief of staff.
ReplyDeleteWow that is unfortunate. Maybe a crossover between Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder seems more realistic then.
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't be a major setback, I think. They could just pretend that they're different persons or have Mer throw a little throwback upon seeing Cyrus (seeing that Langston is MIA) in the likes of, "I think I know you."
ReplyDeleteEven like that, they didn't know to appear in that crossover or even move Cyrus from D.C.
Not really, since Bonnie was Amanda Tanner in Scandal's first season.
ReplyDeleteI actually came here to look at covert affairs ratings lmao.
