ABC is showing a sign of confidence in rookie comedy Cristela. The comedy has earned a back-nine order, giving the freshman vehicle starring Cristela Alonzo a full-season order.
The series opened to modest reviews and and a good start in its home on Fridays at 8:30p.m., where it's paired with Last Man. Cristela debuted to a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.6 million total viewers — besting its lead-in in the demo and total viewers and on par with CBS veteran Hawaii Five-0 in the latter. Best news ever!
ReplyDeleteYes! Love this show very funny even though I miss The Neighbors
ReplyDeleteYAY. I love Cristela.
ReplyDeleteAnd this pretty much confirms that FoTB will air in an awkward timeslot.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't get comparing it with H50, either.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that ABC is still giving some chances to shows that rate modestly like Forever and Cristela. While both are still long shots in terms of getting second seasons, at least ABC is giving them some chance and a full season to evaluate them.
ReplyDeleteSomeone guessed its going to be burned off mid season on Thursday along with The Taste while the TGIT line up is on break, that doesnt look unlikely now.
ReplyDeleteThey both fill timeslots that ABC have no hope of getting better from at this stage. Cristella is gdoing about as well as any show on Friday. Forever is in a time slot where nothing does that well, has a relatively poor lead in on a day that ABC is really suffering on. Why waste another show on Tuesday or Friday when any new show is likely to bomb there too?
ReplyDeletePrediction-Forever cancelled at the end of the season (thats been on the card for weeks now), Cristella could go either way.
Agreed. I think particularly for Cristela, it depends on whether ABC thinks there will be another show that can do significantly better. I do think that ABC wants to have the bragging rights for having "ethnic" family comedies like Black-ish, Cristela and Fresh Off The Boat, so that may help.
ReplyDeleteWow, this show is one of the most not funny comedies that have ever existed, IMO, I thought it would be cancelled after the fourth episode. But I'll continue watching it anyway. I'm glad for Cristela Alonzo!
ReplyDeleteBest news all day!!!
