*makes Thea a badass and gives her maybe the most interesting aspect of the season: her relationship with Malcolm* *barely explores either of those things* *sticks her back in the club and introduces a superfluous love interest*
I would really like for this Chase to be just a person... I mean, lately every damn character is a superheroe.
One person here pointed out all Felicity's love interests are superheroes... Well, it made me realize that the show needs some normal people.
It's like if they want to give Roy a love interest. They surely will use Cheshire, another comic character.
It kinds of make you wonder "All the people these characters meet were, are or are going to be superheroes/villains".
Before anyone say something, i know is a childish thing to say on a show based on comic book characters... It's just i miss having characters like Walter or Tommy that were just part of the other world.
The problem with having normal people interact as love interests or friends with these super heroes is that the audience (a large part) will unfortunately not accept them.
Questions will abound, like: What do they bring to the story? Is there anything to them apart from being a love interest/friend? Can they do anything apart from being useless? Can they save themselves if they get in trouble? If not, then no one likes a damsel in distress, right? They will definitely be held hostage at one point, no?
And caveats will be placed on them: They must never hinder our heroes. They must always agree with the heroes. They cannot question or argue with the heroes. They must not have any issues with the heroes. They don't have the right to know more or try to find out more about their secret hero lover/friend.
It's pretty much the most unnecessary storyline in order to create conflict that isn't even needed. That part with the DJ so weird. It looked very CW and not the good kind. Eugh.
Oh, man... i know. Especially since Arrow's writers are bad at writing characters who aren't on the A Story.
I was just pointing a silly thing. It's like if you touch or get near one of the main characters of the show you will get the "superhero syndrom".
On Season 1 and 2 you had a more normal world around them. Now everybody is a freaking hero/villain.
Like i said, it's just a silly observation. It's better that way, either way: the writers are more confortable if all of them are on the main story.
What makes me wonder... Who the hell is he? Does he has any relation with Cameron Chase, maybe? That would be cool... Maybe he's a male version of her.
It would be pretty awesome if they actually use that titlecard. No other character could really add something to the titlecard such as their own specific arrows(although, seeing a black arrow for all the Merlyn-heavy episodes would've been sweet too).
While it's very CW, I just have this feeling Chase's storyline is tied to Malcolm Merlyn. With Ollie being Thea's new roommate, he'll have less time to actually interact with Thea, so I could see Merlyn going as far as to pay someone to spy on Thea. How else would some teenaged DJ have free money to just hand over to Thea like that?
Happy I'm still not the only one that thinks he has a baby-face... This entire thing with him has really bugged me from the start, and only more as we get closer to this thing... I read an interview of how much onscreen chemistry baby-face and Willa Holland have, and how it's going to be incendiary or whatever... I still agree that him being a mole by Malcolm, and thus daddy making a mistake with his so called "I'm totally trust worthy and SO honorable.' Than anything else...
Specially if he's just some guy, I REALLY don't get what the whole point would be, it wouldn't progress her story AT ALL, it would practically do the opposite. It does come off a lot as just a super predictable CW thing, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if even before the episode is halfway done, Thea and baby-face have some overly slutty hook-up >.<
But again anything but a good development in the slightest for Thea, so I really hope this isn't going to be as stupid and useless as it seems now.
And I really hope baby-face doesn'st tick around long, either as a mole or as a useless hook-up chance or whatever.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
lol, love the titlecard change :P
ReplyDeleteBaby face DJ is here. Someone tell me why do we need him?
ReplyDeleteLoved the cupid arrow on title.

Frustrating.
Give it time. I agree about the love interest Chase though I really didn't want that.

Anything less than him being a mole placed by Malcolm in the club won't be accepted by me.

ReplyDeleteTHEA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCOOL THEORY
ReplyDeleteThea is still badass, but she owns a business too.
ReplyDeleteMerlyn will be around.
