Arrow and The Flash - Details about Crossover + Screening Q&A *Updated with all parts* + Cast Interviews

Nov 23, 2014

Thanks to ODA and Sparky for the heads up

Here are seven things to know about the big crossover event.

1. The Flash crossover title, The Flash vs. Arrow is quite literal.

Barry Allen (AKA The Flash) and Oliver Queen (AKA Arrow) have been allies up to this point, but when Barry becomes determined to prove himself to Oliver, Barry encounters a metahuman whom Flash star Grant Gustin teased "gets in Barry's head, and he gets whammied. Barry's not himself in The Flash vs. Arrow. It was really fun; I got to play a different character, essentially, who was losing his mind. Some truths come to the surface that wouldn't have otherwise, because Barry's been brainwashed, and that's the reason the fight ensues."

Arrow star Stephen Amell acknowledged that "Oliver is keenly aware of [Barry's affliction], and they're fighting, but it's more Oliver trying to get him back under control."

  1. Thanks for this ODA and SPTV. Can't wait forbthe crossover to happen.
Intruiged by the Laurel spoiler and 3x13 is goimg to be Canaries. I hope forva lot more Felicity Laurel scenes, we didn't got a lot of them.

  2. probably Sara FB to the League. Laurel in the present. 4 LL episodes after another, minimal Stephen doesnt make me look forward to it. And no to the L/F scenes.

  3. so when the crossover is done Caitlin is definitely going to be more worried about Barry than she already was (loved grant and danielle whispering to each other and loved the moderator asking about caitlin having feelings for barry), i'm glad the creators made a point to clarify that Sara was The Canary and Laurel is The Black Canary, i think it bothered people when they wouldn't call Sara the BLACK canary, so yeah the Oliver reveal is definitely about Connor (LOL probably not his name OR the character) Oliver's son

    ReplyDelete
  4. Don't get the first sentence of your post!
And it won't be 4 complete LL eps, just with more Laurel and the other guys, the 4th will be huge for Laurel. Probably her fighting Sara's murder of something. I think the show has balls to step away from the leading character for a couple of eps especial after midseason which is always a tricky part of the year.

  5. this is really happening isn't it this has gotta be like every comic book fan out there boy OR girl's dream come true let's hope if Titans and Supergirl are picked up for series we'll have an even more massive crossover between all 4 shows

    ReplyDelete
  6. i am assuming we will see both Canaries stories. Sara in flashback with League/Nyssa, Laurel in Starling. Well i am watching the show for Olivers story and if he is missing or only in flashbacks its really not something i look forward to. Its just reminds me of last year of the heavy Lance family melodrama episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh okay now I get it.
Last year Laurel's story was a complete mess, right up till the end when it got better. The last year Lance drama, took a huge hit on the ratings as well, but was poorly executed. I really didn't felt Laurel "hitting rock bottom" but even in those episodes Oliver was center stage.

    ReplyDelete
  8. But now he will not even be in Starling. No Oliver means no Team Arrow interaction and that has already been rare this season. its great for LL fans, i will just try to make it through with these episodes without Oliver :(.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am so excited about the crossover. It is going to be so much fun. There is no doubt left that Oliver reveal is his son and baby mama. So we audience will see them but Oliver will be unaware of them and will be dealt with in later seasons. Cool!! There was speculation going on the kid in the captain cold episode at the museum was Oliver's son. We will see if that is true.

Laurel's transformation to BC in a span of 4 episodes. I am curious. I am not a fan of the character and I am intrigued how they will believably do it this fast. Let's see.

That being said I am annoyed the only characters beyond Oliver that is being developed this season is Laurel and Ray Palmer (who is a recurring and Felicity in association with him). What about Thea, Malcolm, Diggle and Roy. Why is it that every season it's Laurel who gets a season long arc and no one else? Why is Diggle always an after thought?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I wonder if Cisco Ramon's girlfriend is 'Conner's' mom or if Caitlin's best friend is.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think in comics Sandra Hawke has an abusive husband who was the boss of the character who tried to buy Argus secrets from Manhunter in episode 3 Corto Maltese. I read this when that episode aired.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Laurel's getting a long arc because in the Green Arrow story, the Black Canary is arguably the second biggest character. Everyone hates Laurel but surely we all knew this was coming.

    ReplyDelete
  13. its not a problem that its coming its the speed, them just putting her episodes after another and that it all happens while Oliver is away. What i find amusing that LL will already be BC but Oliver even after 2.5 years isnt Green Arrow yet.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Laurel has gotten kind of useless long arcs every season until now, so yeah, we knew it was coming, because it's the same every time... It psses me off because there was expressly said in multiple interviews how this was supposed to be more of Thea's season and her becoming who's she is supposed to be, but that's only been with showing how much of a hypocrite she is and how easily she forgives a mass murderer... Apart from that, they just throw in some douchebag of a DJ character, think that's enough, and then focus on Laurel again >.<

    ReplyDelete
  15. Did I anywhere said her story should not be said? Did I say she is not important and I don't expect any development on her front? What I said was they don't give half the importance to any other character. Diggle, Thea, Roy and Malcolm has had no movement in their story in the first half. It's seems unlikely anything monumental will happen in next two episodes. Characters like Diggle and Malcolm deserves season long story arcs too. This is a show which has an ensemble cast. They need to work on all characters. This is not a comic book.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Since BC has a three episode arc with the same villain, I'm sure we're going to see some failure before any success. I know people are apprehensive about the speed in which Laurel is becoming the BC but I guess for the sake of a television show, they're speeding it up. Oliver hasn't become the GA after 2.5 years because he hasn't found his motivation yet (in the comics it comes from his flashback interaction with China White, which the show is doing now) but Laurel has found her motivation in Sara's death, even if that is BS. As for Oliver not being in the episodes, I suppose it will be interesting to see everyone interact without him since he is the one who brought them all together.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I didn't mean to sound accusatory, you never said her story doesn't need to be told. But as the second biggest character in the story, it makes sense to me that she would have the second biggest role in the show. This season, the show has really struggled to include all the characters. Diggle's role has been reduced to Felicity and Oliver's relationship counselor, Thea's role has been inconsistent, Malcolm hasn't really been around even though they promoted John Barrowman. Merlyn will probably be in the second half of the season more as Ra's al Ghul story really picks up but the show needs to figure out the best way to use all the characters. Hopefully the episodes without Oliver will allow them to expand on other characters.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What do you mean Oliver had no motivation? Oliver wanted to right the wrong done by his family & other 1% to Starling city. And Laurels motivation is revenge for Saras death. And why do people compare the shows BC to the comic one. When they are nothing alike.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oliver in the flashbacks does not have motivation to right the wrongs done to his family and take out the 1% in Starling City like he does in the present time of season one. I meant in the flashbacks, he has not found his motivation to train himself to become the Green Arrow. He still has half his journey. And I know the BC in the show and the BC of the comics are not similar but the show BC is still a representation of the comic BC. They may have differences but we can still compare them and try to use the comic book story as a general idea of where the show might be going.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hope we do see Oliver in those episodes and what happens to him. I hope Diggle and Feliciy would be the ones who find him. Either them or Nyssa will help him as she then helped Sara.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Stephen said he is in flashback & Hongkong flashback are my least favorite part :S

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think we are all protective of characters we like and that is fine. The problem of avoiding every other regular character but Laurel is a pattern that is being carried on from season 2. Last season even though great with Sara and Slade, only found concentrating on Laurel and Roy's journey. Thea, Felicity, Moira and Diggle were really avoided. Moira had a bad mayor story line which they did not try at all and was killed off, Thea had nothing to do until she was kidnapped, Diggle only had two episodes and Felicity had nothing.

It's getting more and more clear if you are not a comic book fan you will be disappointed. They now has only plans to develop comic book characters and fans of original characters like Diggle, Felicity and Thea will be disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Are you really comparing someone who has to work for someone like Waller to Laurel who can decide to do what she wants. Oliver in the flashback who is already suffering by PTSD. Saw 2 women he was close to be killed. And had to fight for his live for the past 2.5 half years while he was on the island from hell.

The show made a big deal about the journey of GA. Its just funny it just flew out of the window for the journey of BC.

    ReplyDelete
  24. On The Flash front I hope they never go a romantic way with Barry and Caitlin. I don't want her journey to the villainous side due to a failed romance.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't even like Laurel so I'm getting in a lot of trouble defending a character I don't like. But it's not Laurel's fault that the writers are struggling to include the other characters. I would love to see more Diggle and this season has felt really weird without Thea (and without Oliver's family since that was a huge part of the first two seasons.) Felicity is my favorite character so I'm always ready for more of her. They seem to really be upping the comic book reference/stories this season and I'm okay with that but, as you are pointing out, it's at the expense of other characters. I'm interested to see Laurel's BC arc but I want to see all the other characters have their own arcs too.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "Are you really comparing someone who has to work for someone like Waller to Laurel who can decide to do what she wants."

Not at all, I don't think we are understanding each other. You said that after 2.5 years, flashback Oliver still isn't the Green Arrow. But eventually we will see the moment in which he decides to train to become the GA and come back to Starling to fulfill his father's dying wish and to fight the corruption in Starling. Then in the flashbacks, we will (presumably) see him train. This process that Oliver will go through in becoming the GA in the flashbacks is what Laurel is supposed to be going through right now. So yes, her transformation into the BC is happening quickly. But who knows how this will go? This is the beginning of the BC, she could fail, she could get better, her costume could change, her fighting skills could change. Just because she's calling herself the Black Canary does not mean she is automatically at the level of the comic book Black Canary. We're seeing her journey, even if we don't want to.

    ReplyDelete
  27. we don't even know if she DOES become that they might never make her that she might become a hero

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lol. You are not in trouble. I assure you. The day I get into a legitimate fight with someone on the Internet over a tv show I will stop watching it. People usually jump down my throat calling me Olicity shipper if I reference LL and say any criticism in the same line. I am a bit protective about John Diggle and Thea/Malcolm arc recently. It's high time this show learned how to carry multiple story arcs or become completely serialized as they are unable to develop characters and keep up the procedural format.

I am excited to see how and if they turn around Laurel's character. I am not blaming her at all. I am blaming the creatives. I can see Ray Palmer and his exo suit will develop in the mean time too. But we are not given any idea where Thea or Malcolm is headed. Diggle it looks like will get one episode down the line which will deal with his brother (tradition you know). I am happy with Felicity as she is attached to Ray.

    ReplyDelete
  29. They really have balls to make a 4 episode arc about Laurel, considering a big part of the audience don't like her.

I'll go open minded... let's see what they do. Personally i was hoping for something else for 3x10-12, and they are using them to propel Laurel.

So if the ratings and the response sink... what the hell are they gonna do with Laurel? They are taking a risky move(i know 4 people who are most likely not gonna watch)... i feel they keep forcing her instead of letting her come organically. Why rush it if they could do it by 3x23 and have both the impact for sweeps and being more realistic.

    ReplyDelete
  30. But the producers are already calling her BC. Not that its the begining of the path. They dont call Oliver the Green Arrow even after 2.5 years fighting in Starling. Oliver went from Vigilante to Arrow and not instantly like EPs are doing with Laurel.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't think this 4 episodes will concentrate only on Laurel. I think he meant she has a 4 episode journey. I hope other characters will be given equal importance.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was only trying to say that it's only fair that Laurel gets her screen time. But Diggle deserves his as well, as does Thea and Malcolm and everyone else. I wasn't trying to take away from other characters for the sake of Laurel. Anyway, Diggle was such a huge part of the show at first and I'm happy that he is the only team member that is in a good place but that's no excuse for what they have been doing (or not been doing) with his character. I'm glad Diggle will get an episode this season but I would really like for Diggle to take over as "team leader" for the episodes that Oliver is gone. I may be dreaming though. The Malcolm/Thea story confuses me because it sounded like a huge part of this season and yet it was mostly jammed into one episode.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Since The Flash is more faithful to the comics and they have just two original characters in Joe West and Harrison Wells, Harrison might end up being a comic book character in the future, it's fair to assume Caitlin will become Killer Frost and Cisco will become The Vibe.

I don't mind if they put together Barry/Caitlin as long as they don't use heartbreak over Barry as a reason for her turning evil. And with they way they are pushing Barry/Iris and keeping Caitlin in the know of Barry's feelings I don't see anything romantic between them yet. A great friendship though. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The producers are calling her BC but we haven't heard that name in the show yet. They are calling her the BC because everyone knows she will be the BC. People were calling Roy 'Arsenal' even though they just came up with the name in the show last week. Plus Laurel will probably choose her name based off of Sara's name ('Canary') so it's not like she won't know what to call herself, like Oliver. My point was not to get hung up on the name though. Just because she may call herself the BC does not mean she doesn't need to train more, it doesn't mean she can't learn more, it doesn't mean that she can't change what it means to be the BC. Even if she uses the title The Black Canary, her character can still evolve.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I really, really hope you're right... But when it comes to Laurel, i don't trust the writers. Considering 3x06 was supposed to be a Roy episode and 3x03 a Dig episode, i don't believe in them anymore on that stuff.

Let's wait and see... Hope it's good and for people who don't like her to be patient and let her fans have a good story. After all, it's 4 episodes out of 23.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think that guys name was Armitage/Harmitage and he was also the weapons dealer who wanted to buy the prototyp of the earthquake machine in S2. This guy imo is one of the seed they are planting for late S3 or even S4.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Do you think they will have crossovers even though all these shows are in different networks. If they do it will be so cool.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If we are going by that logic when MG says these four episodes are about Laurel it means she will not be featured much and will be dealt as an after thought. LOL.

I don't care about character centric episodes anymore. All I want from them is to give everyone of their regular characters growth and a story line through out the season and yes including Laurel.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Everybody knows Oliver will be the Green Arrow also, but they dont use that name that often. Others who are still on the path didnt get their name overnight. Or at least in the span of 4 episodes. In the 2.5 comics Oliver still teased Roy with the nickname Speedy. But with the way they handle her suiting up i dont trust the writers.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It was a misunderstanding. I apologize for over reacting. Audience like Laurel or not writers have always given Laurel importance. I wish they do that for other characters too. I had high hopes for Laurel, Thea, Diggle and Roy this season. So a bit miffed.

I am not satisfied at all by the one episode formula for Diggle. He needs a personal villain or nemesis which he deals with continually along with Team Arrow business. Malcolm/Thea thing is turning out like Isabel Rochev in season 2. Her scenes never made any sense. I hope I am wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I guess we'll have to wait and see. But the way this season has been going, I'm not expecting much.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah and it seems part of Laurel getting ready to suit up happens off screen since she wont be in 3x08, 3x09 has the Lance family drama as the B plot & she suits up in 3x10

    ReplyDelete
  43. Since they are establishing romance for Oliver this season they won't introduce the child this season. Maybe season 4 or 5 once Oliver is in a good place and relationship the baby drama will explode. I like them planting seeds for future seasons and would give them credit if only they would treat their characters right in current season.

    ReplyDelete
  44. That was he point... That's why i put the "let's wait and see", after all, these people have a weird concept of "centric episodes".

I've been on the side of a fandom in wich 80% of the fans hate the character you love(and her pairing)... It's a crappy place to be in. I feel them. xD

I'm still rooting for people to watch the episodes(i have seen a lot of comments online about people who's going to skip them). They don't seem to get that if the ratings sink it's gonna be a problem for the show, not a character.

I'm liking this season very much... I love when shows are character driven. It's really a mix of Season 1 and Season 2. I'm still curious as to what's Diggle's long arc this Season, tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I will definitely watch these episodes. Not liking one character should not be a reason to skip a show. I only skip a show once it gets boring. Then the chance of me picking it back up is next to nill. Anyway it doesn't matter whether I watch or not. I am not from US.

I am not sure I am a fan of season 3. Lack of Diggle and movement in Thea/Malcolm is irritating me. At least Felicity is making new connections and everything Ray Palmer is linked to her. Laurel always gets season long arc. It's high time they treated Diggle right.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm pretty confused. Amell in interviews says TPTB were super interested in making the return from winter break not the doldrums it's previously been. But everything we're hearing is Oliver is MIA in the present for 3 (?) episodes and now we have a 4-episode Laurel-heavy arc without him there to cushion the blow? This seems contradictory for me. (And frankly a ratings nightmare.)

Do the producers think that if they get Laurel in on the secret and give her a plot that doesn't involve alienating people that people will magically change their opinion? I wish I could understand why they think a wardrobe change and not an attitude change is what the character needed. I could really use some positive news or the hiatus is gonna be miserable (just the Thanksgiving break is bad).

    ReplyDelete
  47. This. Balanced, nonjumpy, unrushed storytelling please.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just remember that if Oliver is really missing (at this point we can say he is, Stephen said he didn't work with Katie's Black Canary yet), they can't talk about it. So, of course when they say three episodes about Laurel, they are not really about Laurel, they are about finding Oliver/finding out he is still alive and where he is.
Of course she will be important, but that's because that's the oportunity to put a mask on the girl.

    ReplyDelete
  49. They are calling her BC because they need to make sure the audience understand Sara is a different character. I don't expect them calling Laurel Black Canary in the show yet.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Stephen said there is a big pay off for the BC character in 3x13. So yeah i am expecting Laurel to get the BC name by that episode.

    ReplyDelete
  51. And don't you think it will be really intersting the Team trying to find the main character of this show? The big question after 3.09 will probably be "Where is Oliver? Is he alive? Can they find him?"
    That's huge.

    ReplyDelete
  52. More than that I think he was explaining how Laurel will be featured less in next two episodes but her character will move forward.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah. As always it was a "Hey, fans of *insert character or shipper here*, we are not really doing anything about that right now, but next episodes are ALL about it."
And they are really not, usually.
Except this time we know she will really become a "wanna-be-a-hero", so I think Laurel fans will be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, depends on the storyline tbh. I still believe(Laurel centric or not) that they're doing some sort of Lemire's "Broken" comic book version of events.

If they do that, it could be a spectacular arc(I LOVED THE COMIC)... But it needs for Ollie to be missing/disconected for 2 episodes, at least.

Instead of Digg, Naomi and Fyff yo have Dig, Felicity, Roy, Palmer(?) and Laurel and instead of Richard Dragon you have Brick. But the background/outcome seems pretty similar.

I think that it just gives them an oportunity for Laurel to put on a mask, and i'm hopefull that they won't make her better than Roy or Dig, for example. We're going to see her eat dust a bit. I don't think that's the final design of the BC costume either, just some costume she's gonna use to conceal her identity(her father is a cop, after all).

I'm not a Laurel fan(the writing has been aweful... i don't like characters with "free passes" on their personality. The only thing that sustained the character was Katie Cassidy's acting) but 3 Laurel Lance episodes out of 23 isn't a huge pain... much more considering is her sister's death one of the main stories of the Season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's not usually very interesting because there is no dramatic tension to it.

Oliver will come home or be found or whatever. Taking 3 episodes off is dangerous, but the show is still called Arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Just saw Marc Guggenheim saying she is more vulnarable and the least prepared to fight, so she of course the bad guys will beat her more often and she won't always recover from it. It's painfull for Laurel, he says, but she will have to find another way.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I hope they improve Hongkong flashbacks during this 3 episodes. I am interested in Katana and to see if she will train Oliver.

    ReplyDelete
  58. 1) I don't read comics.

    2) It's less about Laurel having a story--because she needs one--and more about not having Oliver there to shoulder the burden of carrying the episode while they are doing it.

    3) I don't want to see Laurel fail. I've seen Laurel fail. I've seen Laurel whine. I've seen Laurel be entitled. I've seen Laurel make stupid mistakes that make me want to strangle her. I've seen Laurel try to take over things she shouldn't. I've seen Laurel yell and be irrational and act on emotion and not logic. What I want is for Laurel to be smart, humble, nice, and accommodating. I want her to not bug the crap out of me doing dumb things. Failing is just going to be annoying. and put people who aren't annoying in danger trying to rescue her.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well, unlike Season 2, they're using a Trident Centric Concept for each episode. I'm not too fond of that because, while the episode centers around those 3 and all the others remain on the background, it puts a lot of stories on hold.

Example: Last week episode was about Oliver/Felicity/Palmer(an episode i really liked---3x06 is still my favourite of the Season) and it felt way too packed because Oliver's side of the story was put on hold after 3x02. One of the key items of the show is "While Oliver loses his humanity on the flashbacks, he recovers it on the present", so being jealous is something very human, someting i was looking forward. But instead of doing that a little every episode with a 1/2 minutes scene, that was put on hold until 3x07 because it was "the time for those characters to interact", and it felt weird.

That same thing is the problem with Laurel's training, or Roy's guilt, or Digg's fatherhood. They are put on hold until they reach "the episode".

While i love the character driven storylines, i'm not a fan of the way it's executed.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm liking Katana (and Hong Kong), but news that she'd be featured heavily in these episodes would cheer me up a great deal.

    ReplyDelete
  61. But that's how Arrow works. I am not a fan either, but the whole Oliver/Felicity/Ray is very very similar to Oliver/Laurel/Tommy. So I don't except them to make a nice story about romance, because they can't, they don't know how. They expect us to believe everything about it. I am not a huge Oliver/Felicity as a couple (and I don't hate it, either), but I still don't believe Oliver loves her, because I don't feel they told us that story in season 2.
About Laurel, yes, I don't know how they are doing it. I am excited because she is my favorite character and I am waiting for too long. But I am also trying to not jump into it before I see.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It might be a small thing to crib about. But I get annoyed whenever MG says Laurel fans/KC fans will be happy. He should say fans of the show will be happy. She is a part of the show. It's insulting. He does this only for Laurel. I want to be happy too.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I watch Arrow for Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak, and John Diggle. Also throw in some Nyssa, Malcolm, Quentin. But the Malcolm storyline is very disappoting, Quentin still is in the dark about the truth & Nyssa is there to rarely. So if there arent any major Felicity / Diggle scenes in
these BC-centric episodes — and not just as characters who will work for LL, i am not really excited for them.

    ReplyDelete
  64. They say it because in their twisted mind they have two large groups of fans to care about: Olicity fans and Laurel fans. They know Laurel fans can manage not having Laurel/Oliver as a couple if they have Black Canary. They also know Olicity fans can handle Laurel, if they have Olicity.
So they are always trying to balance those two groups. When they do a huge episode for one of this groups, they have to make sure the other group know they have something to wait for.
It's dumb, because they ignore the fact that there's a big part of Arrow fans that don't like either, or are waiting for something else. I am sure one day they will find out.

    ReplyDelete
  65. All you're describing are problems i have too... But the truth is the writers always had problems writing for her. She didn't knew the secret and was completely disconected from the A Story, so sometimes they gave her a "free pass" in order to be totally out of character so that she could get into the story.

Laurel was reseted on Season 2 and then again on Season 3... The writers are doing a "try/fail/try again" with her concept. Because of this, from a narrative perpective, the character's actions have no logic.

She is the only character that can't give Oliver something on a personal level to work with(Dig is his councelor and friend, Felicity is what brings the human still in him, Roy is his aprentice, Thea is his family, Malcolm is his némesis). What's Laurel? Aside for everything bad he did in the past? The whole Laurel/Oliver relationship was badly handled from the start(on the first episode of the show she was "mad/then she was ok/she was "f**k you, Ollie"/and she was understanding again".

Then the writers try to force her into the main story and made her say things like "i know you better than anyone"... When did they actually show that? You develope characters from "actions", not "empty words".

But again, Laurel on Season 3 is like Oliver on the Season 2 flashbacks... He still got his ass kicked. What i mean with all of this is that in order to enjoy Laurel you need to forget everything she did in Season 1 and in Season 2. Sadly, that's the position the writers put us in.

    ReplyDelete
  66. His flashbacks in these episodes could also be flashbacks to six weeks before.. Not necessarily Hong Kong..

    ReplyDelete
  67. I really hope so because Hong Kong has been a disappointment so far.

  68. It's annoying Arrow producers treat the show in fragments. I love the whole show even Laurel whom I want to like badly. The arc of every character should resonate with the whole audience. You can't write for a part of the audience. These people should stop giving interviews period.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I agree the writers have just continually screwed up the Laurel character. Personally I think they've hit reset way too many times on Thea too. Every season she gets a new personality. It is bizarre to me that they can write Felicity and Sara to be likable and rationale and coherent, but not a single other female. They've hit a point with Laurel (Thea too when I can't ignore her on dumb DJ plots) for me that they have to actually write a character progression for me to try and forgive the 50 episodes of crap I've put up with from them. I don't care if she wears black leather, I want a slow personality growth and I want her to not be wrong and dumb and reckless. But for some reason TPTB sometimes think they can just turn to the audience and say this is what it is and we'll be happy.

Laurel should have been Oliver's normal--the representative of his Oliver Queen life. But with the flashbacks showed him being a douche (so we didn't want that guy back) and in the present they never really connected on the "be who you are you can do so much as a billionaire and owner of a major conglomeration" front, so it didn't work. I'd say she could be fairness and justice and law, but she's throwing that way with both hands. So I'm not really sure what they are going to give her to "bring to the table" so to speak. I'm not down on the idea of the character, but I have no faith in that the writers are even trying to fix her at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think he says that because he knows how much hate the character gets from from fans of arrow. I mean look at these comments! Laurel has nothing to do with Crossover event but she is all people are talking about. Every article that is published about arrow on this site people come in maybe to say some thing about the subject then they immediately bash the character and get tons of upvotes for it. So he lets the fans of Laurel since their seems to be so few and I am a fan know that -hey you know that character that everyone seems to dislike but you like she is going to get character development- and I am glad for it. Because he knows it won't matter if they write Laurel well people(their own fault I know) are still going be unhappy about, So why not let her fans know they will like what they do with her.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Unless they say every other character is absent except for Laurel, Ted and the villains I will tune in. I need to know how Digg and Felicity react in the absence of Oliver. Since it looks like Quentin learns about Sara in ep 9 I want to know how he is faring. I hope we get Thea and Malcolm. How is Roy battling his guilt. Ray Palmer's exo suit and Felicity's role in that. I have too much to look forward to. LL is just a part of the show not the show itself.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I wish i was excited for Thea & Malcolm but the way its progressing really doesnt have me excited. Ray is not a reason i would tune in. Roy is just there ATM.

    ReplyDelete
  73. People are discussing Laurel here because in this article her's is the only new spoiler.
I get the character get a lot of hate on internet which ever way they take her on the show and whatever news is released on her. I get that. But in my opinion the producers of the show should not discriminate among its characters whatever the public opinion may be. They should talk about the journey of the character and the overall impact her character will make on the whole show. Instead they say Laurel fans/KC fans will be happy as if her story is completely separate from everything else going on in the show. I saw Stephen refer to the Laurel character the same way.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I don't know what to add... The only thing i can say is an advice a person once gave me about writing(since i want to become a writer, of course): "The fans will always analize your characters and stories and end up knowing them as much as you do. So don't try to fool them because they will call you on your bulls**t".

Also, good writing is about being volatile. Some things may not work and you should change them... If not, you may doom your work just for vanity.

At first i was concerned that the writers couldn't take a character outside of their main story without screwing it. Felicity was, for Season 1 and 2, a very 2 dimensional character(always a limb of Oliver and Team Arrow). I was terrified to what they could do with her. But her story this season is very well managed: she didn't change who she was, her being with Palmer is 'cause of Oliver's actions, her decisions are grounded by facts and her being vice-president(i think this story was made so that when Oliver creates The Queen Foundation, Felicity steps up as CEO) is a cool storyline.

The main problem here is that they can't write the characters who aren't on the main story properly(Felicity's main story is still with Oliver and Team Arrow and it's B Story is about her... Laurel is the other way around). The difernece between Thea and Laurel is that the relevance is not the same. While being filler, Thea's club story and with Roy didn't have an impact on her character until the final episode that were made to set up her story for Season 3.

Laurel's was always a more prominent character than Thea...

2nd part of Q&A is up.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Well, i honestly had problems with the whole Oliver/Laurel relationship since i watched the pilot. Not because of them alone as characters, but because the way the writers rushed the outcome on the freaking pilot already. I always felt that they couldn't write Laurel "on-character" while interacting with Oliver, because they wanted to sell that "tragic love story" right from the start.

I really liked her with Tommy because i always tought he brought in her what the character of Felicity brings in Oliver: A lighter, more laid-back side, on a very dark show.

When Season 2 started, the whole show's concept was kind of reseted(said by the EPs). One of the things was the romantic aspect of it: Episodes like 2x06, 2x07, 2x08, 2x09, 2x10, 2x22 and 2x23 i think were done(among other things, of course... we're talking just relationships here) to shift the Oliver/Felicity relationship to the romantic side.

The problem with that pairing is that they didn't show us those 5 months in between 2x23 and 3x01(They're saving that for the comics) and it felt kind of weird seeing Oliver so diferent from what we were used to.

I REALLY, REALLY LIKE KATIE CASSIDY. I loved her since she was Ruby on Supernatural and followed her to Gossip Girl. I really want Laurel to be done right for once, as implied by Stephen Amell, it seems that the writers had a lot of troubles writing her and they know they did a lot of s**t to her.

Part of me is still hopefull for her... I waited for so long to see her kick some asses like she did on Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  77. You are right in a way. Right now she is not part of main story line. She is training away from the team with Ted, suiting up away from the team and finding her own brand of justice away from the team. None of this is really effecting the team really. I think separating her her from the team making her journey the b sometime c plot is OK. So when the time comes for her to be help the team when Oliver goes missing and you now she will the audience will know how she got there. And they don't really promote the these plots when they show the promos they have to talk about separately like that I think.

    * So Oliver tells Barry him and Iris will never happen. Oliver dude you are in no condition to give advice especially on romantic matters

    * Yay Diggle and Lyla are engaged.

  82. I am really disappointed that we have seen very little of Malcolm so far this season. He is a series regular and a damn fine actor that is being completely underused which I am at a lost to understand why!!! Some of the filler type episodes so far could have been passed on for a little more Barrowman. There are a lot of people who aren't fans of Laurel...to put it mildly...to have Malcolm play a big part in the episodes that Oliver goes missing would be a way of hopefully/possibly keeping everyone entertained!!

    ReplyDelete
  83. *reads the part about Laurel and is afraid to read these comments*

I'm at least excited for this. This three-part trilogy will see Laurel think she can help out but I think "Canaries" will be her wake up call in this new world she's entered. And with the name like "Canaries", I wonder if we'll see Sara flashbacks?

    ReplyDelete
  84. We really need more Felicity/Laurel interactions IMO, It grates me a lot when shows (and a show with 3 main female cast members at that) can't build relationships between them, making them all gravitate one way or the other to the main dude.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I too hope these three episodes will bring Thea/Malcolm to the forefront. Season 1 had more Barrowman and Willa than this season.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Because the show & actors & even producers in the past made a big deal out of it. But now its thrown out the window. I know Laurel will become Black Canary, just as i know Oliver will one day be the Green Arrow. But i wish for some consistancy.

    ReplyDelete
  87. WHY DID I READ THIS?? I'm like a kid who is told not to eat a piece of candy, of course he will eat it, you said that there are spoilers ahead don't read, sooooooo yeah I read it lol, well I guess even if I don't read it here I will read it like million times on Tumblr anyway.
So happy for Dyla, I already knew Robbie was going to appear in the crossover, sweeeet the Arrow Cave needs a little upgrade, AH Oliver stop breaking my heart by projecting your own cr** on other people's love life and STOP BEING A STUBBORN IDIOT AND BE WITH HER ALREADY, GOD, YOU BOTH ARE KILLING ME :\

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well for me Oliver is crucial. Without him there are several things that i miss from the show.
Because nothing from F/L interactions from this season makes me think yes i want this friendship. Now maybe its the way writers go about that interaction. But it just doesnt work for me ATM.

    ReplyDelete
  89. After listening I was asking myself "WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?" I am glad I could corrupt you. Mwahaha. STAR lab gadgets coming to Arrow will be in future episodes btw.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I used to really dislike Laurel, this season I've become really indifferent towards her character... So seeing Laurel be central to the first 4 episodes after the hiatus is kind of disappointing for me. I would've liked it if the focus was on all of the supporting members of the cast including Thea, Malcolm, Diggle, Felicity, and Laurel but it doesn't seem to be the case. I mean, how cool would it be to have an episode where Diggle and Felicity work together in order to save the city without Oliver or anyone else??? I think it's an opportunity missed and shows that Felicity and Diggle will always be secondary characters even when the primary character is 'missing'.

Anyways, I'll most probably skip these 'transformation' episodes because I really just don't care for Laurel enough to tune in. I mean, if Diggle/Felicity have major scenes then maybe I'll DVR it but yeah. This just sucked the excitement of Arrow coming back for me. And that sucks considering how excited I was to have it back in October.

And to be honest, I don't see the Laurel development you're talking about. The only way she's developed was physically. Emotionally and mentally she's still the same character except now she's out for revenge. So yeah, she's inching towards becoming BC, but character wise, she hasn't developed or grown at all. If you've seen something regarding character development for Laurel in the past few episodes that I haven't please tell me :p

    ReplyDelete
  91. so the suite upgrade might be because of STAR labs and not Ray Palmer.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think 3x13 will have either Sara flashbacks or Laurel will hallucinate Sara. Everyone is saying 3x13 will be her wake up call. Wake up call to what that she is not ready to be BC or she does not want to be BC? What's next for Laurel then? More training? I still don't understand why they do not wait till 3x23 or 4x01 to suit her up?

I am really curious how they make this interesting?

    ReplyDelete
  93. You know my opinion about Laurel. She is my least favorite character. I couldn't care less if she or the salmon ladder becomes BC. Now with this new I am not excited but really curious. A 3 episode journey and they think people will accept her as BC? Either they have something really cool lined up or they are over confident in their abilities. I want to find out what it is. People are saying Laurel is going to get her ass kicked and in episode 3x13 she will realize she is not ready to be a hero? Then why this arc? Why not wait till season finale to put her in leather? Isn't the whole point of her beating that guy up in the alley and getting her ass kicked to prove that she is not ready? Why go through that again? So I will see to know how they turn this around if they even can.

I was not talking about character development for Laurel. I was talking about a season long arc for the character. Her character always has a start point a middle and an end in every season. Other characters are not so lucky.

As The Flash is being a bigger hit I can see them being more invested in comic book material. And unfortunately since Diggle and Felicity does not belong to that category I see them being sidelined especially Diggle. Felicity at least has the romance arc and she is making new connections with Ray and STAR lab people. If they keep neglecting Diggle like this I may give up on this show. I hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Rila Fukushima is an awesome actor and martial artist. I can't wait to see her more in action. They need to crank the heat on flashbacks during the 3 episodes. A show without Oliver in any capacity will be hard to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I need to see Diggle's reaction to seeing Barry NOW!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I think this is the first time I saw Rila in anything, but not really sure. I like her and she works well with Oliver /Stephen. Would even enjoy a present time appearance. Maybe even she killed Sara.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Ahh I see what you mean now. I think it's sad that Diggle/Felicity don't really have clear cut arcs. However, in terms of development, I think Felicity's character (bar last episode) developed the most overall. We got to see some of her faults, her history, her trying to get a life outside of the Arrow cave... It's just sad that her arc is more implicit than explicit which is why I don't blame people who're missing her journey this season.

Diggle I feel like they could've/shouldv'e done more. I mean his part in episode 3 seemed SO FORCED... It's such a shame that the writers don't really know what to do with his character. I hope they bring in HIVE and the Suicide Squad at one point. BUT I am glad to see him having a more important role in episode 8 and 9 :)

See, I would be interested in where they're taking Laurel and whether it'll be successful or not if I actually was interested in her. I think I'll just end up reading the comments here to see what's going on with her lol I trust your judgement! We seem to think somewhat alike!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Cmon Sparky... come to the dark side with me. Give Ray Palmer a chance. Look at him as a weird dude with serious lack of social skills. Kind of Tony Stark lite.. He does have a cool suit coming up.... *wiggling eyebrows*

    ReplyDelete
  99. I only watch Arrow occasionally, but I respect how ballsey they're being with the whole Black Canary thing.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Welcome the new superhero on Arrow: The Shrinking Atom only on the CW!

    ReplyDelete
  101. I am not cribbing about Laurel because I feel for the writers on this behalf. They are in a pickle. Something drastic needs to be done and they are doing it. During the summer hiatus I repeatedly said fast forwarding Laurel's journey to BC is the only thing imo that can be done for the character. That is what they are doing. But when I said that I din't mean it this fast. I meant for her to be hands on this season and then suit up by next season premiere just like Roy. Let them try and move this character forward. Poor people.

Whatever MG might say this 3 episodes definitely will not be just about Laurel. Felicity's feelings for Oliver will be explored. Ray Palmer and his suit will be developed. Digg, Roy and Felicity will try to fight crime. Laurel may or may not be with them. We have to see. Malcolm and Thea should also have something cool to do. I take MG's words with a grain of salt. We will see how everything works out.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Me too. This is the first character I liked of him. He is not that bad is he once we accept he is a weird dude.

    ReplyDelete
  103. You did not see The Wolverine. She had the full length role of Yukio along side Hugh Jackman. She was the only saving grace in that bad movie. She had beautiful long red hair and swords. She was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  104. No I just saw the first Wolf movie. Will check it out for sure now.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I hope you're right! Regardless, I still don't think I have it in me to watch lol I hope this doesn't seem petty... I just don't enjoy Laurel and I watch TV for entertainment :p So unless the whole trilogy thing works as an ensemble with everyone getting equal amounts of attention I don't think I'll tune in. But I'll definitely tune in once Oliver comes back from whatever he's going to do

    ReplyDelete
  106. There's some spoiler about that or this is just people wishing she give up? Because for me makes no sense, and I didn't read anything that makes me think about that. I mean, it would be a terrible plot Laurel giving up, because we all know she will be Black Canary at some point. The whole point is make the character strong, not weak.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Oh no that was me just winging it. There is no spoilers regarding this. I was wondering why this rush to make her wear the costume? She already realized she needs training. She took steps towards that. They indirectly has said she will fail in her first try at least. Why make her go through this? Why not wait till season finale or next season premiere? I hope they have a reason and I hope they have a clear cut plan for the future.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I could actually tell you how I feel about Laurel and how I really see her arc, and how I think she had a huge development since season 1. But I am sure you watch the show and you just don't like the character, so there's no point. I understand it, actually. But she had an amazing story, if you like her enough to understand the character.

    ReplyDelete
  109. You do what you have to do. If you need a break then take it. TV viewing should never be strenuous. I will give this season and next season first half a chance. If things don't improve I will stick with The Flash. I hate to give up on shows but I have done it several times. I gave up on House, Homeland, Scandal because I was frowning more than enjoying. So if that situation happens in Arrow I will graciously bow out. It's yet to happen.

Also my viewing or not viewing does not affect the shows at all. I am not in US. So who cares. They are smartly airing this 3 episodes in January because the ratings are usually low during the first few episodes after the winter hiatus.

    ReplyDelete
  110. You know I really really wanted to like Laurel, so much so that I actually took the time to read so many metas about Laurel that for a while, it had me rooting for Laurel on paper... I mean she's been through so much and she never let that defeat her. And I love that. It's just on screen she comes off as a bit of a mess because of shoddy and inconsistent characterization. I think it comes down to the acting and the writing. It's not that I'm indifferent towards her for the sake of being indifferent, I just feel like the writers completely botched her up that making her BC doesn't magically fix her character for me. But that's just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Let me warn you that was the worst X-men movie ever made. Thank goodness they completely retconned it with the latest X-Men Days of the Future Past by changing the past. Only thing I was sad about was not seeing Yukio again. She had the power to sense death in the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Well, I don't think Laurel training is something intersting enough. I mean, of course it was nice, but can you imagine how boring it will be Laurel training every episode? And since she isn't training with the Team, how they would include her in the A story?
They are rushing things because they need to, the same way they did with Roy. They need the characters to be a part of the A story and the moment they decided to bring Felicity and Diggle as "Team Arrow", they decided that to be a part of the A story you have to be a part of the Team.
So, they have an opportunity to make Laurel wear a costume and tell their audience they know she is not ready. Oliver isn't there, we don't know yet if the team will think he is dead or will know he is alive somewhere. Laurel loves Oliver, if she knows he is alive and need help, she will go to hell to get him, she already lost her sister, she wants to help and she will do it. If she thinks he is dead, she still has to find Sara's killer, and if the person she trusts the most can't help, she will wear a costume and she will go to the streets to find justice for her sister.
Anyway, she is not ready, but she will have a reason to do it earlier than she excepted. Of course they will be carefull to show she isn't ready yet, but I don't expect her giving up. After all, she is doing it by choice.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Ohh yeah, I've given up on House (after House and Cuddy got together), Scandal (Fitz and Olivia are disgusting), Supernatural (after they killed Jo and Ellen), Doctor Who (after eleven 'died'), Bones, Grey's Anatomy, and White Collar.

    ReplyDelete
  114. But won't Sara's killer be revealed in episode 09?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yes, that's why I don't think I need to explain the character to you. Sometimes is just like that: we understand, we just don't like. And when we don't like there's nothing we can do to change that. It's just like Team Arrow for me. I understand why people love Diggle and Felicity as Oliver's Team, I just can't love them. I prefer when Laurel and Roy are there too.
And that's ok, it's a tv show after all.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Maybe? Maybe Oliver is the only one to know who did it, maybe we will know, but them won't (just like Slade and Brother Blood, last season). Anyway, I don't think they will caught or kill the killer yet, so justice isn't done yet.

    ReplyDelete
  117. But if I recall it still cashed pretty well at the box office. I usually watch all the Xmen movies but that one wasn't compelled at all.
The new trilogy is quite good, really enjoy it. Can't wait for the 3rd part.

    ReplyDelete
  118. You watched till Cuddy and House got together. I left way before that. House was another show which made me passionate like Arrow. It was hard to let it go but I was becoming more annoyed by it as days go by.

I am still watching Grey's, Bones I binge watch during summer hiatus. I am sad I gave up on White Collar. It was one of my favorite shows. I lost interest when Neal's dubious father came back. May be I should binge watch it again. I gave up on Revenge too last season. I am thinking about giving up The Blacklist. It's going nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  119. On the bright side I started watching The 100! Holy crap this show is so intense and it's really awesome. I can't believe I shut down my TV after the Arrow when this glorious show was airing!

    ReplyDelete
  120. You just started watching The 100!!! What were you doing the past year. You have failed your TV. The 100 is too good for CW. It deserves some other network where people will appreciate great TV. Where have you reached? Did you start season 2. The latest episode was such a game changer.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I'd rather have a Laurel who suits up, trains and gets her ass handed to her and learns and grows from that then a almost Smallville length of time to finally suit up. Not to mention that's just more interesting character development and feels more realistic to the character to me.

    ReplyDelete
  122. My head canon was she would train with Wild Cat and go out on small jobs with him at first and help Team Arrow as a DA in their missions at the same time. I expected Wild Cat to give her life lessons every episode something like Gibbs would do to a probie in earlier NCIS seasons. When the big bad comes up in the finale the suited up Laurel along with Wild Cat will help the team.

My prediction failed.... *wailing like a baby*. Let's see if I can get on board with it.

  123. SHUT UPPPP I DIDN'T KNOW OF ITS PERFECTION OKAY. :p I literally started on Friday and am all caught up... Okay, so I don't know about the fandom but I hated Bellamy but I love him now, loved Finn but I hate him now, Clarke is awesome but I don't love her, don't like her mother, LOVE Kane, Raven is growing on me too, Octavia is badass... Damn this show.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I was watching the show with open mouth last episode. What they did with Finn.. I disliked Finn from the beginning. He was so boring and self righteous. But I cried for him last episode. How can he come back from something like this. I love Clarke. She is so bad ass. How cool was her fight with Anya. So rustic and brutal. Love Kane, Raven, Bellamy and Octavia. Monty is my puppy. Jasper annoys me. Jaha is unnecessary. Abby is a hypocrite, Lincoln is just eye candy.

Mountain men are creepy but they are stuck there too. With the effect we saw radiation had on Maya I can see why they would use these kids and grounders for their blood. But the fact that they create reapers so that they could protect themselves from grounders is just...... I have ordered the books. I can't wait to read them. I heard they are different from the show but Finn does go dark in the books too.

Watch it live and ask everyone else to watch it live too. That show could use some ratings boost. I want atleast one more season.

    ReplyDelete
  125. OH I'M WAY AHEAD OF YOU!!! I made my family and at least 12 other friends watch it over the weekend. They all LOVE IT.

Ugh I hate Abby so much. Jaha and her can die and I won't miss them tbqh. Also, I hope the kids find the adults soon because i think it'll be an interesting dynamic to see how the kids will take the change of power.

I wonder how the grounders will deal with the mountain men... Will they infiltrate from within? Or will the mountain men go outside (in protective gear)? Something's bound to give.

I like season 2 a lot more than season 1. It seems to have more direction. However, I must say, I'm not really attached to the characters on thsi show as I am with Arrow. Part of me hopes I'll get attached, part of me doesn't because that's just another rabbit hole to go down and I don't have the energy for that lol.

This show better get renewed tbqh

    ReplyDelete
  126. Season 1 start was a bit shaky with the kids acting like kids and the terrible Finn/Clarke romance then Raven triangle. The ark scenes were the most compelling in season 1. That episode where 300 died on that ark. So good. But the show very soon switched to battle mode. Season 2 is simply awesome. Also a show with this many adults on CW. That itself is an anomaly.

I hope when the children reunite with the adults Abby is proven wrong again and again. She breaks rules when she likes but plays superior when someone else does the same. I love Paige Turco though. Lindsay Morgan who plays Raven is so beautiful.

You can't get attached to any characters on The 100. At any time anyone among them can die except for Clarke. They have so many different threads going on character development happening, Arrow could take a page out of their book.

I hope the ratings get better every episode.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I do believe every show, as a rule, can benefit from having its star step away for an episode(s). That way the show can really have the time to show us how the rest of the characters click without them; and Arrow REALLY needs that; the show suffers because almost every character's development is way to linked to Ollie.

F/L, honestly, its the lack of interaction that makes me want a friendship, there's literally carte blanche with them. Eigth episodes in, and we haven't got them bonding over Sara, why?? Total missed opportunity, I am kinda over Felicity's development being linked to her romantic interests.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I keep having the impression that the met just hurts the Arrow watching experience; I mostly just watch the show, no BTS stuff mostly. I have literally now idea how they have made a "big deal out of it" can you explain?

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'm really looking forward to this crossover, I love both teams, and I really can't wait to see them altogether in one room.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Yeah, I can't think of one time it's ever been successfully done. You have an example?

    1. There's no chance that he doesn't get back; therefore, there are no stakes to him being gone and no tension created by it. We aren't asking "is he dead" "will he return" We're asking "how long" before it happens. That's not dramatic tension that's patience.

    2. I don't want Oliver to need saving. I want him to overcome. But for that to happen we have to be with him.

    3. I like the team, I want them to have screen time. But there is a reason they are supporting cast. It's Oliver's show (and this show more than most is the lead's show). The writing and the plotting aren't as good when Oliver isn't the focus.

    4. This isn't a complexly written mystery show. The most obvious, overused story is pretty much what always happens. So, the "how" of it all doesn't interest me, because there is a 1 in 35 chance that it won't be something we've all seen 34 times.

  131. I think this "wake up call" will be what the producers and Amell have been talking about, that being a hero isn't just about a costume and a mask. In Laurel's case, some training from Ted Grant will not be enough. I could even see Laurel seeking training in other routes, and possibly from Nyssa(if she's alive, that is….I have a feeling we'll see a Ra's/Nyssa confrontation in "The Climb").

  132. Buffy: Anne and Bargaining
Supernatural: I know what you did last Summer
    ATLA: Zuko Alone
A lot of Grey's Anatomy episodes.

    Like, a lot of things!

1- Death is not the only stake, and even so, it might not be about any stakes: sacrifice and fallout care two very compelling threads. Don't put tension on the if, but in the how.

2- So Oliver can safe everyone, but he can't be saved once? (if that's what's going to even happen)

3- Then Oliver is a crutch; and I really want this writers to actually be daring. We let them pass with a lot of crap.

4- Well, expect better!? If you don't have even a bit of faith in the show, IDK.

  133. A big character moment for Oliver? Does this mean we'll finally get some forward movement for the "who killed Sara" plotline? Gotta be honest, this whole "introduce a character who could have done it, only to clear them of the murder by the end of the episode" thing is getting pretty old.

  134. What? Anne was 90% Buffy! As was I Know What You Did Last Summer. A Supernatural episode without the boys? That was Bitten. I don't even know what ATLA is sorry. And Grey's Anatomy is a huge ensemble cast. I'm talking about an episode without the leads--no leads, just the scooby gang all on their own trying to track down the lead.

    1. Death, dismemberment, killing someone we care about (when they are all in Starling? And we just lost Sara?), taking Oliver a darker path when his whole arc this season is about finding the light? None of these things are going to happen. Focusing on the how is like asking me to focus on the procedural mystery of "who killed Sara." (this is also the answer to 4). There isn't a mystery investigation. It's one clue and an interrogation. Pretty straightforward. I've learned to hope writers can focus on what they can do, not what they ought to be able to do. If they haven't done it in 3 seasons, adjust your expectations and hope they know what they do well

    2. He can, but 3 episodes of him needing to be saved will drastically change team dynamics. Do you want that or do you want Oliver to be BAMF? I mean look how up in arms people got at the idea that Cupid could best him

    3. See above. Writers should do what they can. As a viewer I'm not going to get anywhere hoping they will rise to my expectations.

  135. So Grant is singing in an upcoming episode...with "someone" else? Super happy about this one. Thanks for all the videos (they were better than the article).

  137. As every vigilante knows, it doesn't end when you find the killer.

  138. The name is more about secret identity than any thing else. Really this whole idea of earning the name is something Arrow and probably Smallville (Clark becoming Superman in last episode) came up with. It's not something the original comic book writers had in mind.

  139. I think it's because Oliver is the main guy just like Clark was the main guy on Smallville and he was called different names before becoming Superman. In both cases though just as in the comic the names are coined by someone else. In Dinah/Laurel's case she gives herself that name.

  140. We're going to find who killed Sara during episode 3.09.

  141. I dont watch arrow anymore so I hope I enjoy the flash episode. I have read that there is going to be a huge Oliver related reveal during the flash and I hope they don't make it all about Oliver during this event. I enjoy the felicity episode, not bc of her, but bc of captain cold so maybe it will be ok, even awesome. I'll watch the arrow episode but only if it is a requirement after the flash episode.

  142. This was great. I really enjoyed most of the questions b/c a lot of them i wanted to know myself. So i'm glad we got some clarification on it. David is too funny and Emily is too cute. I've said this before, but i'll say it again, love Grant in that red shirt, i really do.
