Okay, since the cats out of the bag...Fox is developing a TV show based on Peter David's X-Factor.

That Fox are currently in deep development on a live-action X-Men TV show. And are starting to get interest in that as well. Which is how it leaked to us.
No details whatsoever. And right now, no way of getting any. Hopefully, as a result of this article, someone like Deadline will do the heavy lifting.

ReplyDeleteHECK YES. I have dreamed of an X-Men series (live action) for years. Since I saw X2 probably. lol
ReplyDeletesound like a way to complete with DC and marvel thanks to their success in TV especially Dc with Arrow, and marel with AOS..........don't know if tv has the budget for x-men?
ReplyDeleteFOX can hardly get anything right about the X-Men in movie theatres so doing the franchise on a weekly basis with a smaller budget just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteI might try this. I'm not the biggest super hero genre fan, but I always found that I enjoyed the first couple of X-men films and I use to read some of the comics when I was 12.

ReplyDeleteDepends on the X-Men they use I guess. Fox sci-fi series have always had pretty good effects: Almost Human, Fringe, Sleepy Hollow and Terra Nova.

How should they do it? Get the more TV-willing actors to return, so here`s my dream line-up:
James Marsden as Cyclops (he hasn't done too much lately)
Famke Jansen as Jean Grey (Hemlock Cove wraps with its third season so she could jump right into that)
Halle Berry as Storm (she did Extant)
Taylor Kitsch as Gambit
Anna Paquin as Rogue (True Blood is over and she might want a job these days)
Daniel Cudmore as Collossus
Ben Foster as Angel
and Kelsey Grammer as Beast
with Aaron Stanford (Pyro), Rebecca Romjin (Mystique), Brian Cox (Stryker), Kelly Hu (Lady Deathstrike), Vinnie Jones (Juggernaut), Dania Ramirez (Psylocke), Eric Dane (Multiple Man), Ray Park (Toad), Liev Schreiber (Sabertooth) and Jason Flemying (Azazel) recurring as villains
I'm not sure about Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart but both have done TV multiple times, so I could totally imagine both recurring or starring
Hugh Jackman is DEDICATED to the role, I doubt he'd do it on a regular basis but if a three episode appearance would be part of his promotional contract for the next X flick I could see that happen

I enjoyed the first two movies, hated First Class. Tolerated Origins. Liked Wolverine and loved DoFP
ReplyDeletePersonally I could see this turn out to be good if they stick with the original cast, most of them have done TV multiple times (minus Jackman) so I could certainly see that work

ReplyDeleteIf Bryan Singer is not involved I think It has a good chance. I liked the first 2 Xmen films plus First Class and DoFP, I could careless for the Origins movies and Last Stand. I am hopeful it will push through and it will come out decent.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea but I would rather it be new Mutants simply because I doubt they could get the actors from the movies and I wouldn't want to see them recasted.

ReplyDeleteAlthough, Maddox was part of the crew back when I read in the 90s. That line up was Havok, Polaris, Multiple Man, Wild Child, Valerie Cooper, Strong Guy and Shard briefly.
I also wouldn't be opposed to an X Force TV Show either, more so than New Mutants.
Of we're going New Mutant I'd prefer the Old School members.

- I wouldn't mind if it's close to the 90's cartoon, which I've grown up with.
But please, recast Rogue, I never bought Anna (nothing against her) playing that character.
X Factor makes a lot of sense can do it without it getting messed up with the films which already are completely messed up continuity wise.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so man, It's a expensive cast, some of this names never would go to TV to make a X-Men series, sorry. Fox will make the same thing they did with Gotham, they probably will choose B-team of the mutants with simple powers to not waste to much money.
ReplyDeleteI'm not that familiar with X-Factor, but I'd be happy to check it out. I'm all for X-Men on tv, even if it's not the X-Men I'm familiar with, I'm sure it could be awesome if done right.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I was thinking. The Last Stand was okay actionwise but storywise, it could be so much more. I'm still bugged they didn't make a real fiery phoenix aura around Jean Grey like in the comics. I cherish the moment at the Alkali Lake at the end of X2 when they revealed there was some bird in the water.

ReplyDeleteSo, after some research, I understand that it has nothing to do with the original X-Men team, because it says Peter David, who didn't do the ogriginal X-factor, or have madrox, so it will probably be based on something called X-factor investigations, or possibly the second X-factor-team..who was led by Valerie Cooper, and featured quicksilver and havoc..
ReplyDeletePAD's X-Factor didn't have Madrox? He was the PoV character in almost every issue of Volume 3.
ReplyDeleteIf it's based on X-Factor you will get none of those demands met. PAD's cast of mutants are probably the most television-ready heroes at Marvel though, so they're superior choices.

ReplyDeleteFor the core X-Factor members the tv show would have to show the following powers:
ReplyDeleteMultiple Man -- Multiple versions of the same actor onscreen at once.
Wolfsbane -- Transformation into an anthropomorphic wolf, or a regular wolf.
Siryn -- Super-powered scream. Flight.
M -- Super strength, invulnerability, telepathy, flight.
Strong Guy -- He's pretty big... and strong.
Layla Miller -- She knows stuff.
It seems like the flight would probably be the hardest to portray. Everything else should be doable.
Ah ok. That was my in between time. Read until 2001 and stopped, picked up the end of Morrison's Uncanny run, stopped when Wheden took over. Picked up New Warriors with Jubilee/Wondra, stopped and only started reading comics again in 2013.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend reading the Madrox mini-series that launched the volume proper. It's five or so issues of really great pulp noir that takes place when mutant town still existed, and would make a pretty good pilot for a tv show.
