  1. If soundtrack also means score, Outlander has a beautiful score, so amazing, still waiting for the soundtrack to be announced which Bear McCreary said is possibly in the making on Twitter :)

Once Upon a A Time has a nice score with memorable tunes for each character. Also I really like Game of Thrones title sequence score.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Definitely Lost, followed by Person of Interest, Supernatural and Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Lost for sure. The music alone is enough to make me emotional! Also went with Game of Thrones and Doctor Who

    ReplyDelete
  4. Person of Interest and Game of Thrones share the same composer in the form of Ramin Djawadi. I think Djawadi's work on Person of Interest is better though.

Castle's Robert Duncan is right up there. Sean Bean's Legends is surprisingly good in the soundtrack department, as is Reckless. Honorable mentions to Boston Legal and House MD. Scandal's is always really good, as is How To Get Away With Murder if the pilot is any indication. The Blacklist has upped its game this season.

But my favorite series soundtrack would have to go to Netflix's House of Cards. Jeff Beal did an awesome job in season 1, and season 2 was even better.

    Background music: GoT

  16. From the poll: Game of Thrones, Person of Interest, LOST.

Other: Battlestar Galactica had the best soundtrack I've ever heard for a TV show. Blake Neely's work on Arrow (and The Mentalist, although this one is more subtle) is also quite impressive. Fringe's soundtrack was beautiful as well.
In another category, Jeremy Zuckerman's score for The Legend of Korra is also very good.

  18. Some shows have just score, some just soundtrack and some both, so for me putting all of them in one bag doesn't make any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  19. OTH, TVD and The OC

    ReplyDelete
  20. Battlestar Galactica. Just perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I may have stopped watching Supernatural, but it's soundtrack kicks everything out of the curb.
I also voted Lost and Other (Fringe)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Supernatural, The Blacklist and Hell on Wheels.

    ReplyDelete
  23. How is Game of Thrones anywhere near the top of this list? Person of Interest has the same composer and they use the music much, much better. I swear on all that is holy if I have to hear ONE MORE rendition of Rains of Castamere there will be fire and blood..

*Ahem*, anyway, Lost, POI, and Other: Suits.

  24. If we're talking intro's, scores or themes - Friday Night Lights, Lost, Teen Wolf, Suits, The Soprano's, Buffy, and the one episode I've seen, Outlander.
If we're talking songs from the shows that made it to a soundtrack or should be on a soundtrack, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, The OC, The Blacklist, Criminal Minds and Transparent.

  27. I'm going to include both score and used music in my consideration. My favorite is LOST, which has the best OST I've ever heard. Fringe's is great as well and Person of Interest's, too. :) Supernatural has its music moments, but in this case more in the "used music" department

    ReplyDelete
  28. I picked other, Grey's anatomy, Scandal, and House, I love the music from these shows, opening song I'll always love Bones opening music& for a creepy theme it's gonna be Criminal minds, sooo creepy:)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I like one of these but my honorable mention is Forever

    ReplyDelete
  30. If you mean opening sequence than Charmed, if you mean songs that are used in the show than Grey's.

Past shows: 666 Park Avenue, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Stargate Universe.

As someone else said, Bear McReary FTW! :)

  36. Current shows: GOT and TW
    Old shows: Buffy and charmed

  37. Hard for me to vote on this one, since what I consider a great soundtrack is one that I don't notice. Its there, but it doesn't distract from watching the show.

For theme music, GoT & Doctor Who are the only ones I can hear in my head when I think about the shows.

  38. I totally agree with Outlander ! Such an amazing score ! I really hope an album of it comes out !
Also Castle has some really good scores ! Robert Duncan is really great ! As every fan might remember, one of the most well known score : "I just want you" ! That one was my favorite of his !

  39. I currently have scores from Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, and Arrow on my iPod. "Americana" (feat. Dean's Family Dedication Theme) from Supernatural, "Unhappy Endings" from Once, and "I Can't Lose You Twice" from Arrow are all in my top 25 most listened to tracks. I can't listen to "Americana" without tearing up! Long story short: These shows have the best scores I've heard in Television!

  40. Chuck had great music

    ReplyDelete
  41. I voted for House, the songs they chose to play always related so well to the scene. And there were some great songs on this show.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lost, Person of interest and of course Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Doctor Who, GoT, Supernatural!
No second thoughts about it! :P

    ReplyDelete
  44. In order of preference: 24, Arrow, Person of Interest, LOST. Breaking Bad's is also enjoyable.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love this piece

    ReplyDelete
  46. Revenge, OUAT and Scandal had great scores in S1. Lost and GoT for me.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The Mentalist, Arrow, Once, Outlander

    ReplyDelete
  48. Outlander, Fringe and Battlestar Galactica

    ReplyDelete
  49. Game of Thrones is so majestic--wins for me, but Person of Interest is very dramatic--like the show, and Dexter was so whimsical, so much in tune with the offbeat nature of the show. All three are very appropos for their shows. Others nominated are very nice, but don't have the kick for me that these three have. I even made the Dexter theme my phone ringtone.

  50. The opening title sequence to Black Sails resonates with me but I haven't paid too much attention to the in-show music.

I find Game of Thrones, as iconic as it is, to be a little limited. That 4 note motive surfaces in the most obvious ways and it's a little jarring when you hear it during a scene. It starts to feel like that's all there is to the soundtrack. Of course, all I think when I hear it now is "Dinklage, Peter Dinklage, Peter Dinklage....."

Of course, Breaking Bad is worth mentioning. Perhaps the shortest main title music from this list, but the Ballad of Heisenberg kind of puts it over the top for me. Not to mention the use of songs throughout the show is masterful. Crystal Blue Persuasion, Lydia the Tattoed Lady, and Baby Blue. And who can forget Fallacies by Twaughthammer?

Sherlock's music is interesting - I like it a lot. Sherlock also has an interesting approach to conveying email/text messages on screen as well.

  51. I voted Doctor Who and Lost but consider a poll about ost which doesn't include Battlestar Galactica or Hannibal has being a fail from the start...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Soundtrack I'm guessing = score so I'd say from the list Supernatural and Person of Interest.

Off the list I have a lot. I love Once Upon A Time, Fringe, The Mentalist, Vampire Diaries, and Dominion's score. I'm probably forgetting some I really like, but those are the ones I listen to on youtube sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Desperate Housewives FTW!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. GoT & Lost from the list. Outlander & Sons of Anarchy too.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Game of thrones, hands down. Its epicness is unparalleled. The way the different motifs relate with different Houses, characters and feelings make it a masterpiece. I could hear it all day long (and as a matter of fact sometimes I do hehe).

As far as other originally scored soundtracks, Djawadi also writes the Strain one. Last episode was spot on on the music side. Agents of SHIELD also has an amazing original score, and last episode's obelisk scene at the end was awesome.

Since there's Breaking Bad in the options I'm gonna go down memory lane and recommend everyone to check out Fringe's, Dollhouse's and American Horrors' s soundtracks (not necessarily originally written pieces, though the original ones were epic and memorable, and still a part of my playlists).

  56. supernatural, person of interest, the blacklist, teen wolf, bones

  57. Guys SPN soundtrack is just the score music nothing more no rock bands( I wish) I want too hear music from the show not a Score then it be a killer soundtrack. I love True blood because they have songs on there and the walking dead soundtrack is great.

    ReplyDelete
  58. From the ones I've seen, POI and Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  59. You can vote for more than one soundtrack, and the plural of "series" is also "series", so I don't see why not...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Game of Thrones has a beautiful score, and the folks at Supernatural have an amazing talent for picking the absolute perfect song for any given moment. Those are two of my favorites! As I'm scrolling through comments, I agree that Outlander has a beautiful score as well. It's often understated, but it's incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Grey's Anatomy, hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The singular "soundtrack" at the end is the reason why I suggested "has" as more appropriate. I realize that series can be plural and singular.

    ReplyDelete
  63. You know, I was thinking only in terms of main themes, but if we go with whole musical soundtracks throughout the series, I would say "Bones," since they choose very poignant and apropos musical pieces for different aspects of each episode. I really love their choices and often buy the songs used. And I always did like their Crystal Method main theme too, kind of funky. I've used that one too, as my phone ringtone.

Breaking Bad does/did have an interesting main theme as well, although I don't like it quite as well as the others. Very much enjoyed the show, however! ;o)

  64. Okay, thanks :-)

  65. Score: Xena: the warrior princess, Doctor Who
Choice of songs: La femme Nikita is still the best

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yes - Outlander is amazing. The opening title makes me want to run barefoot through some heather.

    ReplyDelete
  67. If you have Pandora, I have heard the opener on the Celtic station and 1 or 2 by the same composer.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Other: Chuck. It's score was great, and it's use of music is the best I've seen.

    ReplyDelete
  69. On this list: Michael Giacchino's Lost, Ramin Djawadi's Person of Interest and Bear McCreary's The Walking Dead.
Mark Isham's Once Upon A Time has a beautiful score too with memorables themes. Blake Neely's Arrow and Resurrection has it's moments. Mark Snow's The X-Files is the ultimate atmospheric TV scores. I really love Jon Ehrlich and Jason Derlatka's score for the underrated and forgetten Invasion. Recently Max Richter got me with the beautifully written Leftovers score.

  70. Castle definetly, but also NCIS. And have you seen the NCIS: New Orleans intro? THAT is what I call amazing!
