Torchwood, and I'll hesitantly vote for Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteBroadchurch, Utopia and Black Mirror
ReplyDeleteThe game is on...
ReplyDeleteCall the Midwife, Sherlock and Downton Abbey
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Skins & Peaky Blinders
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed MI5/Spooks. I also love Strike Back which is coproduced by Cinemax and BSkyB
ReplyDeleteBeing Human, Doctor Who, Black Mirror.
ReplyDeleteHonorable mentions to The Fades, In The Flesh, Sherlock, Utopia, Line of Duty
There's so many of them. From the list I like Black Mirror, In the flesh, Call the Midwife (Skins and Misfits started well, but were dragged too long). I would add The Fades, Five Daughters, Plebs, WPC 56, My Mad Fat Diary, Privates and Appropriate Adult.
ReplyDeleteEasily Misfits for me.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who, Sherlock, Torchwood, Death in paradise, Misfid, Victius <3
ReplyDeleteMad Dogs
ReplyDeleteSherlock & Broadchurch
ReplyDeleteThe Fall, Luther and Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteI would've voted for Silk and Last Tango In Halifax if they were options
I don't watch many shows, so for me is just Sherlock!!!! I looooove this show!!!
ReplyDeleteSherlock and Broadchurch. If it hadn't been for the 4 year cutoff I would have thrown votes at Doctor Who and Torchwood too.
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Merlin and Doctor Who, by a country mile ahead of the rest. Distant mention to Being Human (UK).
ReplyDeleteSilent Witness
ReplyDeleteWent with Sherlock, Doctor Who and was going to say Life on Mars until I realised it's been longer than 4 years!
ReplyDeleteThe Musketeers , Sherlock and Ripper Street .
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Doctor Who and I really like Miranda :)
ReplyDeleteLoved The Smoke...hoping for series 2..??..soon??
ReplyDeleteMrs Brown's Boys is hilarious. I love it.
ReplyDeleteBlack Mirror and Utopia. I'm beyond pissed that Channel 4 cancelled it this week.
ReplyDeleteIf I can only pick 3 it will be Torchwood, Merlin & Musketeers, but also love Dr Who, Sherlock & Being Human until Turner left then it went downhill FAST.
ReplyDeleteSherlock, MI-5...
ReplyDeleteI should like Downton Abby. I should. I tried. But for some reason I don't. Am I the only one who can't stand Lady Mary?
Too hard to pick only 3 :( lol. I went for In the Flesh, Being Human and Musketeers in the end, but Merlin, Misfits, Luther, Who & Black Mirror are all fantastic too! I would also have added The Fades, Mad Dogs, The Wrong Mans and This is England.
ReplyDeleteLuther, Merlin and Sherlock. I haven't cared for Dr. Who since David Tennant left. Idris Elba is an outstanding actor. Arthur and Merlin were funny and heartbreaking and Benedict Cumberbatch is amazingly fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe inbetweeners
ReplyDeleteI can't stand that show at all. I tried. I watched more than I should have of a show I didn't like. Just trying to figure out why it's talked about so much. I can never get that time back.
ReplyDeleteIt ended 4 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI tried watching it and couldn't get through first 3 episodes.
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Ripper Street and Merlin but the ending for Merlin sucked.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch any, but there's an Irish show called Love/Hate that I like.
ReplyDeleteGreat British Bakeoff! That thing is amazeballs!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valley
ReplyDeleteH50
ReplyDeleteSherlock
ReplyDeleteThanks I know :P It last aired 18-10-2014 sadly enough. Only british show I liked.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Friday Night Dinner with Simon from TI?
ReplyDeleteRipper Street and The Musketeers are my favorites. I just started watching Dr. Who this season because of Capaldi. Since, he is the only doctor that I've seen, I can't call it a favorite series.
ReplyDeleteMr Selfridge and In The Flesh are probably my favourite. Downton Abbey is close there.
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed The Musketeers, The Fall, Broadchurch, Skins (first four and last season) and Ripper Street.
I'm sure I'm missing some.
Sherlock , Torchwood and Broadchurch. If I could vote for a fourth it would be Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteI love so many UK series it's a bit hard for me to narrow it to just one, or even a handful!
ReplyDeleteI'll break into categories I guess....
Crime Drama:
- Happy Valley
- The Fall
- Vera
- Line of Duty
Drama:
- Call the Midwife
- Downton Abbey
- Utopia
- Honorable Woman
One Off Series:
- The Shadow Line
- May Day
- Southcliffe
- Dancing on the Edge
Comedy:
- Spy
- Yonderland
- A Young Doctor's Notebook
- Twenty Twelve
Overall, Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey might be on top. Both shows can be watch over and over again and I seem to enjoy the episodes more every viewing.
Best Crime Drama I have seen in a decade I think!
ReplyDeleteSecret Diary of a Call Girl and Misfits
ReplyDeleteDownton Abbey, The Fall and Call the Midwife. Especially DA!
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Ripper Street and MI5
ReplyDeleteI just watched that a few weekends ago and my word - what an exquisite show. Catherine Cawood is one of the most believable fictional police officers I've ever seen. It was nice to see a police drama where the cops aren't made to be fools at every turn, and it wasn't as angsty as Luther or The Fall (though I love those as well). Everything about it was just pitch perfect.
ReplyDeleteTorchwood, without a doubt my favourite sci-fi mystery show. I even loved the generally loathed fourth season.
ReplyDeleteKind of holding on to hope for a fifth one. Barrowman and Myles would be in...
Skins UK, Sherlock and other The Inbetweeners UK
ReplyDeleteBroadchurch:It's so mysterious..I'm watching it on the Internet and it's great.
ReplyDeleteMisfits:Season 1 and 2 were amazing. After that writers tried to replace Nathan for Rudy and I liked the character too although I never forgot Nathan. But when all the original characters were gone it lost its sense.
The Muskeeters:It's very funny and an interesting vision of the muskeeters.
I also wanted to vote for Torchwood because it was a good sci- fi tv show.
Never heard of it. Is it fun?
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Merlin (don't know why I love the show, but i do), Torchwood (Children of Earth is one of the best things I've ever seen), Broadchurch, The Fall, The Musketeers, Luther.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see Spooks and Ripper Street.
Downton and Misfits was good at first for me, but I lost interest after a while.
i only watched Downton and Black Mirror.
ReplyDeleteThat was really hard but i went with Doctor Who, Sherlock and Luther. Honourable mention to Broadchurch, Utopia and Torchwood.
ReplyDelete3 picks is too few! OMG I didn't see sherlock! Ack. I picked Torchwood, Misfits, and Being Human (If I'd seen it in the list I would have picked Sherlock instead of Misfits.) If I had more than a 4 year timespan the list would include (in no order): Doctor Who, Mi-5 and Luthor
ReplyDeleteFirst season is great, I've watched it in one evening. Second and third are ok at least IMO.
ReplyDeleteUmmmmmm ......
ReplyDeleteWhere
Is
Orphan Black ?!?
: 0
Orphan Black is a BBC America show and a Canadian production - not British.
ReplyDeleteSorry - then I don't have one except The Musketeers
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that it's not on any UK channels ?
I rather enjoyed The Fall. It had Gillian Anderson AND Archie Panjabi in one show.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure honestly, I live in the US. I do know some of the other BBC America shows have aired on BBC. Maybe OB does too...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure someone from across the pond can answer though.
I love Ripper Street so much, even the title sequence is awesome.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree on Merlin, I keep thinking there should be a next season where Arthur comes back in today's England and meets up with everyone else.
ReplyDeleteYay Ripper Street!
ReplyDeletePrimeval is really good, I loved the idea of dinosaurs popping up everywhere.
ReplyDeleteRipper Street is awesome and they just filmed series 3, hopefully it will be available soon.
ReplyDeleteLuther. It was perfect from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteMisfits was great until Simon and Alisha left. The first season of Skins was excellent but then the show only got worse and worse. Season 4 deserves a special mention for having some of the worst episodes I have ever watched of any tv show.
My current favorite is The Fall, Gillian Anderson is simply amazing! I loved Being Human few years ago and never watched the US version.
ReplyDeleteFoyles War. Hands down.
ReplyDeleteMerlin, Sherlock and Doctor Who. If I'd been able to choose from 2009 I'd have voted for Trinity and Demons!
ReplyDeleteI second that!! : )
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Broadchurch and Being Human. Also Misfits and Torchwood
ReplyDeleteLikewise, the series has had an awesome run though!
ReplyDeleteDW, "Sherlock", and "Merlin". "Line of Duty", "Broadchurch", and "The Fall" were excellent as well. The most recent "Torchwood" was a huge letdown after the awesome "Children of Earth".
ReplyDeleteLove "Strike Back".
ReplyDeleteThere's no way I could sit through "Downton Abby". I just don't get the appeal.
ReplyDelete"The Shadow Line" was great.
ReplyDeleteI'd be in, too. That makes 3 of us.
ReplyDelete"Children of Earth" rocked.
ReplyDeleteUtopia, Luther and The Fall.
ReplyDeleteSherlock very great show and Doctor Who 2 reason why British shows are Awesome.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who, Sherlock, Merlin.
ReplyDeleteThe hour
ReplyDeleteLoved The Hour, but hated how it ended on a cliffhanger and was cancelled!
ReplyDeleteDownton Abbey (although I thought season 4 was just "ok"), Broadchurch, and The Paradise.
ReplyDeleteAnd shouldn't Orphan Black be on this, or was it exclusively from BBC America????
'sherlock', 'whitechapel' (cuz 'wire in the blood' is a bit older), torchwood, and my very fav 'foyle's war' :)
ReplyDeleteWire in the Blood would be tops of my list as well.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Crime Dramas ever!
Cancellation was a shame but I read in an interview with the creator that Freddie would have lived.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Sherlock is so far ahead.(It is what I voted for together with Merlin and Downtown Abbey) I would have bet on Dr.Who. Considering that Merlin finished almost 2 years ago they are doing really well in 4th place.
ReplyDeleteSherlock, Downton Abbey and Merlin =D
ReplyDeleteMr. Selfridge
ReplyDeleteYou don't even include Doc Martin in the list?! Do you know how many worldwide fans it has? Geez!
ReplyDelete@Amore HL Maybe the person who submitted the poll does not watch the show.
ReplyDeleteand you can always use "Other - Leave Comment"
Merlin, DCI Banks (Other) and spooks
ReplyDeleteGee, I never thought of that! Oh wait, I did.
ReplyDeleteThen why make the first comment then?
ReplyDeleteBecause (1) I thought it was a point worth making, and (2) somehow, voting for "other" is not quite the same thing. Still, this is your poll apparently, so I see no need to bother your with my views further. Thanks for the interest,
