The problem with this show has literally been that there's nothing new. 'I'm hurt, compel me to forget the things that hurt me' has been done SO MANY TIMES. Why do the writers always find cop-out solutions instead of dealing with character struggles? It ends up becoming the plot of the entire season. They can't remember, so they spend the rest of the season getting their memories back, and then they have to deal with the problem anyway. Yawn.
For me, it is also especially infuriating as there are two female showrunners who should be able to show their lead female character as strong, but instead they chose these weak way out. The struggle of Elena coming to grips with the loss would be so much more compelling, and it appears that this is going to lead to another trip down the road of, oh, I used to love Stefan but while I was supposedly in love with him, I fell head over heels for his brother. Ugh. Two female showrunners and the best they can do is give us a weak-minded female lead who is also basically a sexually wanton between two brothers. As a woman, and of course only speaking for myself, it's insulting.
Unf**kingbelievable. They really should've just dropped it. Alaric I am very disappointed in you. He's your best friend! But you're kinda still the "Gaurdian". It really is between a rock and a hard place, me personally, nooo, i wouldn't have done it.
On another note. Caroline is so cute. I'm sooo ready for my Steroline reunion!! And they better not..I swear to god, if they cut off my scenes with them, to the point where i get 2 tiny scenes, i'm going to scream!! I want at least 4 scenes!! And they better be hella awkward, then tense, then apologetic, then a make up hug or something. Don't screw with me writers! Not today!
Bonnie and Damon's story better be worth it because I just want to drop this show and only watch The Originals. TVD just sux. I don't watch watch Elena doing this again. And I don't want to watch a season of Jeremy playing video games on a couch.
I don't like the storyline either but I can deal with it if it will make Elena stop whining for awhile. This show always makes that character go overboard with the "oh, woe is me" crap.
I will, however, be extremely pissed if TVD tries to tell us later on that Alaric somehow can't undo what he did. If Klaus can make Stefan remember his relationships with him and Rebekah from an entire century earlier, there's no reason Alaric can't also reverse any compulsion placed on Elena.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
And Elena will wait to be compelled just as Damon returns......for dramatic effect

ReplyDeleteThis is also what ruined S4.

I can't stand this storyline. I do not want to see seasons of Elena not remembering Damon. Alaric should tell her to grow up and deal with it.
