Hey all,
It seems as if the fans in our first poll yesterday may have mis-understood the wording of some of the rules. When I say "battle", I don't mean "annihilate". That is what happened with Person of Interest yesterday, as number two seed Outlander staggeringly beat the CBS show by more than 2,000 votes. After 90 minutes, POI was down 550 votes; after just under 12 hours, it was losing by 1,500 votes. I've not seen anything like this during my time at SpoilerTV. That stat alone should illustrate how many fans Outlander has on this site. I can safely say that it is a clear contender to win this competition. Our other poll saw House progess over The Borgias.
Today marks the beginning of the third round. First up are two sophomore shows - Agents of SHIELD and The Blacklist. We then have two shows in their seventh year this television season - Castle and The Mentalist. Two very interesting battles today to kick off the next round.
Reminder of the rules:
1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will progress into the next round.
2) Vote for your favourite, spread the word with your friends & fans.

Just The Blacklist for me today.
ReplyDeleteWhile I enjoy The Blacklist, it doesn't even compare to the awesomeness that is Agents of SHIELD. As for the second poll, I went with Castle by default.

ReplyDeleteThe first poll was tough but i went with Agents of Shield. Don't really care about the other two shows, i only watch them to pass the time but i went with The Mentalist which is a little more enjoyable.

ReplyDeleteAw, poor Mentalist. Doesn't stand a chance against the almighty Castle. What bad lack to be paired with it so early in the competition. You have my vote, Lisbon! Hope at least they manage to put up a fight before their inevitable demise in the competition.

This one should be interesting. I'm abstaining. I've grown to like AoS as much as I do The Blacklist. I don't watch Castle or The Mentalist.

The Mentalist is an easy choice for me, but the first poll... I'm currently looking for a way to decide that doesn't involve tossing a coin.

ReplyDeleteThis is the toughest one so far. The Blacklist and Agents of SHIELD, are both top 15 current shows for me. But AoS blew me away, in the second half of the season.

ReplyDeleteTough one for me, i'll go with Castle(really well constructed procedural and one of the fewest shows to end the will they/won't they and still be a great show) and The Blacklist, i love AOS but never really felt the characters(aside of course from coulson, and ward-hydra side).

ReplyDeleteJust because a show isn't airing, doesn't mean all of its fans go and live under a rock for months until it comes back. Mentalist has a large fanbase on the site. It's not unfair at all.

ReplyDeleteI'm very angry at what they've done to Castle (and no I won't go into the absurd soapy amnesia ridiculousness) but it's like they've forgotten that the name of the show is Castle and not jerky significant other can't be loyal to bumbling oaf. But even with that, I guess the pre-Caskett seasons are better than the Mentalist.

Although it doesn't really matter who wins seeing as it'll go against BatB next so that'll very likely be the end of the road for them. It'll be interesting to see that BatB vs Outlander final though... I'm still weeping for poor Person of Interest.
ReplyDeleteAnd I kinda urge the people who gave up on AoS in the middle of S1 to give it another chance. It's gotten really good ever since a certain event, it's like a completely different show now. Well, not completely different, but definitely better.
AoS, especially since it's currently in top form. I hear The Blacklist is good though.

ReplyDeleteBlacklist was really, really good at the beginning of S1. After the mid-season finale it just started feeling a bit average. Too much focus on the profiling made it feel like a Criminal Minds spinoff.

ReplyDeleteYeah, some episodes after the mid-season finale were just straight up filler and your typical COTW. If it wasn't for James Spader, I would have probably dropped this show. Like everyone says, he IS the show.

ReplyDeleteI never said anyone was fixing the voting, but I am just losing faith in how people are voting it, that's all. I was floored when Arrow was knocked out and I was floored again when POI was eliminated, especially by Outlander.

So you're having the same mindset as I am with us both being shocked by the results. The only difference is I'm just using different words in saying I'm losing faith in this competition. No harm in that, really. I'll still check out to vote and see who wins, but all I'm saying is…this year is very shocking for me.

ReplyDeleteAnd that's also another opinion when it comes to these polls, and I also totally respect that. Just to me, the shock value comes from the, imo, superior shows that have already been eliminated.
