I have so much appreciation of the show's planning of Alicia delving into politics. It was hinted since season 2 when Alicia did an interview coached by Eli and I remember the interviewer said Alicia should consider politics since she's more liked than Peter (paraphrasing).

That montage at the end sums up everything I love about TGW. They build storylines from the ground up, they don't forget about the past, they always bring new elements to the mix. It's just awesome.
