Roger Howarth (General Hospital) has landed a recurring role on CW’s superhero series The Flash, based on the DC comic.

Howarth will play Mason Bridge, an award-winning reporter from the Central City Picture News. He’s assigned to shepherd new employee Iris West, but their relationship becomes complicated when Bridge begins to investigate Barry’s mentor, Dr. Wells.

  1. Iris is becoming a reporter already? Good and good that he's investigating Dr. Wells, though I doubt it'll contribute to his longevity on the show, given Wells' track record.

  2. Finally they're giving more to do to Iris, indirectly. I like her character but unlike Laurel(her Arrow counterpart), the latter had a better and more organic storyline, being a lawyer.

I was preocupied about the press releases with the "Iris is still trying to keep her relationship with Eddie a secret". This way she will have a role: investigating both Flash and Wells.

  3. Hmm I thought the show just started I think Iris is progressing a long rather nicely. It's only been two eps, she's had good introduction imo.

  4. That's my point, i like they moving her this fast and will ditch her "secret love" storyline after a couple of episodes.

  5. I am confused by Iris' age. I thought she was a post-graduate psychology student. But is she actually just started college? Doesn't that make Barry's and Detective Smarmy's interest in her a bit creepy? She is what 19 or 20?

  6. She's post so she's like 25.

  7. her and Barry are the same age. She's in post graduate school.

  8. In 2 episodes there has been no real progression though. Iris is just the love interest. At least now she's getting a storyline.

  9. Love Roger!!!

  10. Thanks for your response Graydon. So can I ask why she was desperately looking for an elective course to do in ep. 2? I would have thought that a post-graduate course would be purely all of the units you need for your chosen post-grad degree. I am not American so I am not familiar with the US system. Thanks in advance.

  12. I'm not American either. I'm Canadian. But honestly I don't know much I'm only a Honours BA student myself. But since she wrote a dissertation she's most likely at least a masters. Regarding the elective at least in some Canadian and US universities like U of T or Portland State I know it's required beyond that I can't say

  13. Thanks Graydon!

  14. I believe that grad programs require electives as well. I'm not in grad school though so I can't say for sure.

  15. I am so glad Iris is already becoming a reporter. Now if they drop the secrecy from her affair it would be awesome.

well obviously Iris being a reporter means she is that much closer to The Flash identify......I think Barry need a voice filter? or should he tell the world who he is?
