Might we see Ronnie/Firestorm in the present day soon?
You meet Ronnie Raymond tomorrow [in "Fastest Man Alive"] and then in December, you meet Firestorm. It'll take a minute before Firestorm turns back into Ronnie because when they find him in December, my character is really going through some stuff. He's schizophrenic, doesn't know what's happening, he's confused and dangerous to the people around him. You may not see Ronnie Raymond for a little while, but you'll see Firestorm.
Victor Garber is playing the other half of Firestorm.
It's the best! It's so awesome! I worked with Victor Garber on a TV movie a couple years ago and he was awesome. He's so freakin' talented and it doesn't hurt that my fiancee [actress Italia Ricci] is the biggest Titanic fan I've ever met. She's more excited about me working with Victor Garber than anything else. I gotta start watching Alias and start working on my Victor Garber impression. Sometimes Firestorm is Ronnie and sometimes he's Martin Stein, but physically it's going to be my body. I'm just excited to work opposite him because, I mean, he's Victor Garber. The fact that I get to share a character with this guy is going to be really fun.

i'm torn with this character, on the one hand i'm ecstatic that robbie amell is officially in the DC universe but i'm sad that he's catlin's ex-fiance because i want barry and caitlin together so badly, SO BADLY, and man Firestorm sounds crazy powerful, even maybe unstoppable
ReplyDeleteLol Caitlin and Barry not a chance.... 😆 Im an old fan of WestAllen cannon since the comics....
ReplyDeleteI really love this can't wait to see more of this amazing show
ReplyDeletebarry and caitlin WILL happen
ReplyDeleteLet's just have more Raimi's Spider-Man-inspired DC-ness, and less on the relationship stuff.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Firestorm on this show and uggh at all the shippers lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's a CW show. That's like walking into a bar and saying "Ugh alcohol".
ReplyDeleteShipping in general annoys me. Especially unfound shipping. Especially when people dislike a character because it "wrecks" their ship.
ReplyDeleteI never said you had to like it, I just said that it's a little weird watching a network that has pretty much cornered the market on shipping, and where every single show on it has a strong shipping foundation to it.
ReplyDeleteThe CW is a network that thrives on bringing in the VERY active and vocal shippers to boost their numbers and popularity. You don't have to like it, but it's a little silly to walk into a bar, knowing they serve alcohol, and expressing you have a problem with alcohol.
I don't watch Arrow and the flash for shipping and that's not the focus of the show at all. The primary reason to go to a bar is to drink alcohol so that is completely different.
ReplyDeleteI also never said that was the focus of the show, I said that was the focus of the network. Nobody needs to focus on anything if they don't want to.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't watch them for the shipping, that's no problem at all. BUT the most vocal and active members of the fandom are shippers. It would be absolutely idiotic for the network to ignore them.
They're present, they're always going to be present. Complaining about them is a pointless waste of time. The people who are shippers won't care enough about your opinion for it to mean anything, and the people who aren't shippers don't contribute anywhere near the same amount of enthusiasm for the non-shipping stuff.
It's just a little silly to complain about shipping from a network that uses it as a business model. That's the comparison to the bar.
I am not sure Robbie Amell has the acting chops to do such a complicated schizophrenic character. I hope I am proven wrong. Why do they cast really talented and experienced actors as villains but relatively new guys for heroes? Is it because Barry is really young and should not be over shadowed? I am really excited to see how they will bring forth firestorm on screen.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Firestorm and how they handle the two-for-one deal, since I doubt Victor Garber will be a floating head with a bubble speak like in the comics. I haven't seen him in anything, so I'll give him a chance, his character sounds very interesting.
ReplyDeleteyeah I'm a little worried about Robbie. I've never seen the tv show he was on but apparently he wasn't that good. I'll give him a chance though.
ReplyDeleteHe was the weakest link in The Tomorrow People. But then again he was a high school student there with a connection with another Tomorrow Person. Destiny and all that typical CW stuff. He was there as a fleeting character in Revenge too. Firestorm is a very different character. Very mature so maybe he will shine in this one. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteI actually remember him on Revenge lol. He played one of Charlotte's boyfriends right? I'm Canadian and there's this Canadian show from a few years back called Life with Derek and he played one of the main character's boyfriends for a season and he appeared in quite a few episodes. I don't remember him being bad but I was pretty young when I watched the show.
ReplyDeleteCan't blame him for Revenge. Anything revolving Charlotte and Declan was utterly forgettable in that series. Robbie was not horrible in The Tomorrow People. He was strictly average. He was this next prodigy and savior (like Emma from OUaT) yet there were more dynamic characters than him. Ronnie Raymond is really different from Steven Jameson. We'll see how he performs here.
ReplyDeleteBut I dont think will be this case, producers always refer to Iris a the Flash/Barry love interest not possible love interest. So I think they have it that way, hey but as in any CW show anything might happen and maybe the passion of the Caitlin/Barry shippers make them collide at one point.
ReplyDeleteBut doesn't Caitlin become a villain (in the comics at least)? While they may put her with someone Barry or Ronnie (again) it probably won't last.
ReplyDeleteFlash doesn't even need romance like Arrow does. It's because Arrow is so dark that it kind of demands shipping.
