This episode seems to be more Caitlin centric I love it! I just hope her connection with Firestorm doesn't prevent her from becoming her comic book persona.
I mean the scene at the abandoned Ferris airport. It was a nice moment between them, they are so different but still broken in a similliar way. I'm interested what kind of friend-relationship they will have.
You not wanting it doesn't mean it wasn't hinted. There was a moment between them where he mentioned that she never smiles. That got a lot of people on places like Twitter and Tumblr talking. Most interpreted it as a hint of possible romantic stuff for them in the future.

Not just shippers, though. People I know who don't ship anything said things like "Oh boy. They're clearly setting up a love triangle here." I'm not a shipper myself and I picked up on the subtext as well.
That's your take. I'm talking about the subtext. The way the scene was directed can be interpreted as setting up them having some romantic feelings for each other. Remember, this is the CW. They keep like to hint at many different romantic options to see which ones the fans are most passionate about. I would prefer no love triangles or romance at all, actually. But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Barry/Caitlin got a few moments between them so that the show-runners can see how fans react to it.
As long as people have their shipper goggles on, two characters breathing the same air is literally all it takes for them to go "OMG, THEY'RE SO OTP!!!!!!!!!!!!!". No wonder so many shows get bogged down with shipping, triangles and romance-related drama.
Trust me. I've heard this same stuff you're saying about Oliver/Felicity from Arrow, Jeff and Annie from Community, and many other pairings. "Oh, the shippers are just seeing things. There's nothing romantic there." I'm good at picking up the subtext for tv shows and their romantic implications. That's why Jeff/Annie and Oliver/Felicity have both turned into will they/won't they tropes. In the case of this show, nothing is guaranteed, but if the fans seem to want Barry and Caitlin together, the writers will consider it despite it not being canon. Same situation as Olicity (a pairing I really dislike). The writers for Arrow didn't plan for their relationship to be romantic, but the fans started tweeting about how they noticed chemistry there, so the writers started to take notice as well.
I don't see the necessity of a Barry/Caitlin pairing, tbh. Olicity on Arrow rose out of necessity since Amell and Cassidy never clicked on that level and the viewers took notice. Also, it's only me or Barry/Caitlin together are like a Reverse Olicity?
Here Grant Gustin and Candice Patton work well together as Barry and Iris so i don't see the point.
The only way i would want that relationship to happen is if she becomes a villain/anti-heroe and Barry struggles with take her down... That would be interesting.
Like it or not, romantic arcs serve well and are needed for a character to develop... A character like Oliver needs a lighter character like Felicity in order to bring his humanity back. So for a character like Barry, who is very moral and loyal, it would be interesting to put him on that position.
Also, someone here told me that in this universe, Ronnie Raymond is Caitlin's fiancé... Was that true?
I love Arrow and Community... Did you see a patern there? Amell and Cassidy have the chemistry of a duck and a stick of wood... And as said by Abed, "Jeff and Britta's sexual tension with lack of chemistry" was a pain to watch too. Logan and Veronica? That was another one...
Most of the times writers change the direction of their endgames(like Community, Arrow and VMars, just to name three) because the main one doesn't work and it doesn't resonate with the audience.
Olicity came out of necessity... Same with Jeff and Annie and a lot more.
I think Barry and Iris worked well together... Overall the whole cast works well together! We'll have to wait and see...
I just noticed you don't smile often....to her smiling at the end of the episode was a HINT. Besides Danielle confirmed and people that have read the episode script confirmed this is where Barry/Caitlin grow close and begin to develop
Uggh how is it more interesting. I find a Killer Frost/Firestorm romance much more interesting. People are seeing things when there's nothing. Why can't Caitlin and Barry just be friends?
Because what would Iris and Barry really bring to the table? She's the good girl with no real exciting future. Caitlin becomes evil while Barry becomes a hero. That angst writes itself. When it comes to shipping, chemistry is in the eye of the beholder.
Why label it right away like shippers? Can't 2 actors just have good on screen chemistry and why can't we just notice that without labeling it like shipping stuff? My observation was more about, my interest about how the group chemistry will work here. I assume Barry will be a bit protective towards Caitlin. Yes the dead fiancee thing was there to be dropped but the scene gave a deeper insight in her character as well as in Barry's, he is someone who cares how people around him feel.
People might not be wrong Alex. I read Flash season zero comics which happens between first and second episode on the show. In that there is a scene where Barry is saying maybe you can find some muscle buffing therapy for me and Caitlin responds I like that you are on the skinnier side. Then fumbles it doesn't matter what she likes. When I read that I thought shippers may be right there could be a possible romance between the two. I hope not. Barry/Iris has sufficient chemistry needed for leads even though Iris is as cookie cutter as it comes.
Believe it or not, not all relationships are about bringing "light" for someone else. Barry already is light. I do not think SnowFlash is like Olicity, that much, its a new kind of dynamic. And IMO Better.
People can break up, they are not married, they can divorce too. This show really does not need another superhero it should be about THE FLASH. I love Firestorm, but Im worried because its too early and it sort of set Caitlin"s character. I dislike that they made the dead fiance Firestorm, this grief was a big part of this character lol.
He revealed that he could walk??? I didn't see that coming, or is this a flashback?? i'm confused. and awwww Robbie, I miss you being on my screen. I've been waiting for this episode.
It's a mix. Some are most likely a flashback to before the particle accelerator explosion, that would be the ones with Ronnie/Robbie, Caitlin smiling and Wells walking.
I said Reverse Olicity... Was a nod to... Well, never mind.
I ment on paper, Barry is a lot like Felicity while Caitlin seems to be like Oliver... The heroe is the geeky and joyful person and the partner is the grieving and tormented character. The heroe makes her smile and the partner starts to open up to him.
On paper, they're like Oliver and Felicity. I think they're gonna bring Ronnie Raymond and try to save their relationship now that he has anther person inside of him and superpowers.
True, I actually didn't see much hints in the Pilot. But, the digital comics tying in with the show (set after the Pilot and before Ep2 I think) has hints of it, so I think there's a chance. Also, this is CW, and everyone tends to get paired up with basically everyone eventually. :P
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Robbie and Danielle look good together. I'm really curious how it's going to develop, especially with a hint of Baitlin/Carry in the Pilot ep.
ReplyDeleteThere was no hint of Barry/Caitlin in the pilot. Caitlin is my favorite character and I don't want her to get involved in any love triangle.
ReplyDeleteThis episode seems to be more Caitlin centric I love it! I just hope her connection with Firestorm doesn't prevent her from becoming her comic book persona.
ReplyDeleteShould not be a problem at all. Killer Frost and Firestorm have always been connected, in both the classic and the current new 52 continuity
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will because there was no hint if there was a hint of any love interest for Barry it was Barry and Iris.
ReplyDeleteI mean the scene at the abandoned Ferris airport. It was a nice moment between them, they are so different but still broken in a similliar way. I'm interested what kind of friend-relationship they will have.
ReplyDeleteThis. There was not hint whatsoever of Caitlin and Barry.

ReplyDeleteShippers. Sigh.

ReplyDeleteThe reason he asked that was so we could find out about her dead fiance.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks it's really creepy for someone to have romantic feelings for a sister-like figure he grew up?
ReplyDeleteI disagree but we'll see :)

ReplyDeleteI'm all for Barry the hero falling for Caitlin the future Killer Frost. That is a much more interesting story than Iris and Barry.
ReplyDeleteUggh how is it more interesting. I find a Killer Frost/Firestorm romance much more interesting. People are seeing things when there's nothing. Why can't Caitlin and Barry just be friends?
ReplyDeleteThe awkward moment Firestorm looks like Green Arrow.
