THE FLASH zoomed out of the gates last night - Tuesday night’s series debut of THE FLASH was The CW’s most watched (4.54M) and highest-rated A18-49 (1.8/6) series premiere in more than five years, since THE Vampire Diaries bowed in 2009.

THE FLASH is The CW’s third most watched and highest rated series premiere ever in A18-49, behind only THE Vampire Diaries and 90210.

THE FLASH was The CW’s most watched telecast, of any CW show, since the series premiere of TVD on 9/10/09.

In the Tuesday 8-9pm hour, THE FLASH was second in A18-34, behind only NBC, and beat ABC and Fox in total viewers. For the night (8-10pm) The CW outrated both ABC and Fox in A18-34 and A18-49.

THE FLASH was The CW’s most watched show in its time period in more than seven years (GILMORE GIRLS series finale on 5/15/07) and highest rated in A18-49 in more than six years (90210 on 9/2/08). THE FLASH ties the network’s best ever rating in the time period in M18-34 (1.8/7, GILMORE GIRLS on 5/15/07).

Last night was The CW’s most watched night (3.66M) in more than four years (5/12/10), and its highest rated night in A18-49 (1.5/5) in more than four years also (9/9/10). It was the best A18-34 night (1.3/5) for the network since 10/11/12.

This was The CW’s most watched (3.66M) Tuesday night in more than six years (90210 premiere on 9/2/08) and highest-rated in A18-49 (1.5/5) since 9/9/09. It’s the network’s best Tuesday night ever in M18-49 (1.7/6) and ties the net’s best Tuesday ever in M18-34 (1.6/6).

  1. Damn, CW is gonna do whatever they can to get more super hero shows, they have struck a gold mine.

  3. They better keep the quality though. Arrow works because it is good and Flash is working because it's produced by the same people. They start loosing their grip, quality is bound to go down, and so are ratings.

  4. I can practically hear the champagne corks popping in the CW brass offices already.

  5. They deserve a pat on the back (and that long, gloating press release), I'm so happy for the Flash, hope Arrow premieres strong too, I can't wait to watch both shows. What I love the most about The Flash is that it's an unapologetic superhero show that isn't trying to be dark, gritty, "realistic" and Nolan-like. It's a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to see his Rogues in action and uncover some of the mysteries they hinted at.

Any chance arrow season 3 can have the same kind of rating today

  10. congratulations Flash! May not have been a fan of the episode but holy sh*t do the ratings deliver!
This may just be the spark to revive the network. As a longtime CW fan I have to thank this show

I hope the Arrow/Flash producers see the opportunity they have now! Bend their universes and have villains/heroes crossover with their abilities changing. From Arrows gritty realism to Flashs superpower driven world. i would kill for Deathstroke to appear on the Flash and moving like a kung-fu fighter, or Merlyn to pull some archery magic they couldn't show on Arrow. The Flash/Arrow could work perfectly, as the one is fantasy and the other isn't depsite both being in the same universe. You catch my drift? Go over-the top with the Flash even with already introduced villains and adjust the characters powers to each show.

I also hope that the promo departement takes a page out of that! Keep the Arrow promos that air during the Flash epic and superhero driven, no drama music or kissy-squishy-stuff. Keep The Originals promos gothic-y and get rid of the sunlight aspect in the promos.

THIS could be the life the network needed!

  11. Pedowitz already said they're in talks to add at least "one more superheroe". Apparently they will use the same system that was used on Arrow for The Flash: a Guest Appearence with the possibility of a show.

I read it on an interview from today, after The Flash premiered... the link was on tumblr.

  13. I hope so and why not? I keep my fingers crossed, Arrrow is already an awesome show whereas Flash has to prove itself ... Both shows got a lot promotion this summer!

  15. great news... I just hope that the writers can keep the quality high and the momentum going as the show has a lot of promise

  16. I want someone to do a Suicide Squad show, but since WB is developing a movie for them, I doubt I will get my wish.

  17. That's the things the network seems to frequently forget...the success isn't simply because it's a super hero show. Success is because of the quality of the product.

  18. I'd bet money that a huge part of the reason for this is the word of mouth the leaked pilot generated.

  19. I don't think so. Arrow season 2 only had a 0.7-0.9 rating for most of the season. so unless everyone who watched Flash decided to watch Arrow (unlikely), then I don't see that happenning.

  20. And because of the quality of Arrow, lots of people watched the pilot because it was an arrow spin-off. If they start creating too many shows like this the quality of every show is gonna be affected imo.

  21. just like ncis does

  22. It is a different atmosphere and tone, Arrow style and story fits great in the dark, gritty and realistic that's why it is good. Flash wouldn't be that convincing imo.

  23. could be a potentially great idea. expect Merlyn xD i just cant see archery magic no plz xD
if done the right way they could link storyline to this appereances and crossovers too dont you think?

  24. Well he is the DCUs most skilled archer and has pulled some CRAAAAZY arrow moves like arrows that went "Wanted" style into different directions. I could see him more comic-y on The Flash in a more Hawkeye fashion

    ReplyDelete
  25. congratulations to THE FLASH , it's really a good show and I think it's better than Arrow IMO

    ReplyDelete
  26. I also think superhero shows are heavily sampled as pilots.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Actually Arrow delivered over 1s ratings on 9 episodes over S2, and only 2 of them featured Barry, so it easily score over 1s for its premiere

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thw CW now is all about genre shows... and Jane The Virgin and Hart of Dixie as something of vairiaty in the mix, but mostly genre stuff

    ReplyDelete
  29. Congrats to The Flash. I think that leaked pilot actually helped bag more audience for the show.
