The CW Is Eyeing A 3rd Superhero Show

10 Oct 2014

Even at this early stage, executives at DC, The CW, and Warner Bros. (the studio that produces the show), are eyeing a third character who could possibly lead another show. “There are discussions going on,” said Mark Pedowitz, the president of The CW, in a recent telephone interview, “but I can’t tell you what they are.”

  1. No surprise here, specially after the flash and Arrow premieres ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Batman Beyond. Make it happen.

    ReplyDelete
  3. How about some Top Cow properties. Witchblade? The Darkness? Make it happen C dub.

    ReplyDelete
  4. There are so many choices! Of course WW and Green Lantern are front runners in my book but again no one is asking me. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Batgirl would be awesome, maybe even a Batgirl/Nightwing show

    ReplyDelete
  6. That would be a dream come true.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not sure if that's such a good move for the CW, too many Superhero shows runs the risk of getting over-saturated and having the viewer get burnt out.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It sounded like it would be another Arrow spin-off so I think they'll stick to the DCverse. It'd be nice if they chose one of the female characters this time though to center the spin-off around.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree, especially if it's more DC. I want The CW to survive but considering they have about only 10 hours of available time slots I don't really like the idea of them having so many superhero shows.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Does this mean we're finally getting that Wonder Woman show they've been developing for 4 years?

Hmm. Personally I'm hoping it's based around a female superhero (to change things up a bit).

Zatanna if she's not covered by Constantine perhaps. It could introduce DC's more magical side.
The Question (with Renee rather then Charles) could be interesting too.

I could see it being Booster Gold though. Greg, Marc and Andrew tried selling a Booster Gold show to Syfy and they've since gone quiet on it (so they've probably passed on it). They'll probably shop it to The CW instead.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I don't mind another superhero show at all. They need a strong female show. Birds of Prey or Justice League. It's what is popular right now and the CW proves they can do it right.

    ReplyDelete
  13. No.CW tried it twice,failed & said they weren't gonna try a third time

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yep over-saturation is exactly what killed Star Trek on tv, and it's still hasn't been revived yet and considering The CW is the channel that does the DC shows if those die if could potentially stay dead for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Really? I thought they were still working on it to try and get it right. Guess not?

Oh well, there are so much amazing (more unknown) superheroes out there they can use, I'm sure it'll be great.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was thinking Deadman, but NBC might be doing that supernatural-part of DC Comics with also the Justice League: Dark-movie if it ever ends up being something real. They`re also going to bring in Dr. Fate at some point.

I believe Guggenheim said the Atom would suit up, but not on Arrow. So i believe The CW and Guggenheim wants The Atom to be a possible spinofff. I woud personally want to see some female characters, but not Bird of Prey.

But i would rather have a Firestorm-show than The Atom (sorry, i dont like Brand Routh that much).

    ReplyDelete
  17. If they did that they probably would have to use someone other than Brandon Routh.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why? It's not like he has anything else going on right now

    ReplyDelete
  19. Some people may not be able to accept him in that role since he's already played one of the most popular and recognizable superheroes, so it could potentially hurt ratings success.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would love a women superhero show like Birds of Prey Witchblade Black Widow

    ReplyDelete
  21. I bet you believe in comic book movie fatigue too? There is no such thing as over saturation if the shows are good. People getting burnt out? That's a joke. People don't get burnt out by TV. We are in the age of binge watching.

    Tuesday-Flash
    Wednesday- Arrow
    Thursday- New show

People would not be burnt out by that or think "this is over saturating"

    ReplyDelete
  22. There is a whole big difference between Star Trek and Comic Book shows. If you can't see it, I don't know what to tell you.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Either that OR Nightwing...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lets not forget TNT's Teen Titans

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'd watch that...

    ReplyDelete
  26. should be connected to their current show universe. I'd dig a Darkness/Witchblade spin-off for Constantine though

My money's on Aquaman or The Atom (since they already introduced Routh)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nightwing(or Robin) could b on TNT's Teen Titans

    ReplyDelete
  28. They're different shows and genres. Plus Enterprise wasn't that great of a show to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  29. it's still a Batman related show, not sure DC would go along with this :/

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm all for a Batman Beyond, Nightwing or Batgirl show!

However if the CW wants to take a bit of a risk, I think Batwoman might be an interesting choice here...

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's Terry... it's different...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Okay, i'm gonna give two hipotesis:

    1) Green Lantern: Once Amell said that when he knew The Flash was being developed he would answear "Flash" when asked about wich hero he would like to see on Arrow, as a hint to the press.
They're dropping a lot of hints towards Green Lantern on Arrow, Flash's pilot, twitter, etc and Amell has being saying he would love to have Green Lantern next on the show.

    2) Stargirl: It's an unkown character to the masses, wich they can change a lot of the lore(Like Arrow... Flash doesn't need that 'cause his world is one of the biggers)... A female lead show would be welcome and they could go for The New 52's Justice League of America(Green Arrow, Stargirl, Vibe, Catwoman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, etc) with diferent members: Arrow, Flash, Stargirl, Firestorm, Black Canary, Arsenal, The Atom and Vibe.

I believe it's or Green Lantern or a Female Superheroe Show, in wich case they can't use Catwoman(Gotham has the rights), Barbara Gordon(Two version of Gotham on TV? Don't think so...), Wonder Woman(a failed show, a show that never passed the script stage for two years and an upcoming movie), Supergirl(CBS is doing that, and it will crash really hard if Supes is not showed or mentioned)... Stargirl seems like a likeable show.

For a Birds of Prey show they would have to take Katie Cassidy out of Arrow and possibly Felicity, since with FOX having the right of Gotham and it's characters, she became the TV version of Oracle.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Witchblade huh?... I think that might be a good one to try out...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ya because Reign's 0.4 18-49/1m viewers is really what the network needs or wants. Did you see The Flash ratings for the premier and the encore presentation?

    1.9 18-49 & 4.79m viewers
    Encore: 0.6 & 2.09m viewers.

An encore presentation of the Flash's premier a night later almost doubled Reign's season premier demo and doubled its overall viewers.

You think having Reign at those numbers instead of another comic book show that will get them 1.0+ and 2.50m+ viewers is better for the network?

    ReplyDelete
  35. The problem is we already have a very Batman version of Green Arrow... They need a show with a different tone(Like Arrow with Flash).

I would love a Batman Beyond show, neverless... Maybe on cable.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We need a superheroine show for a change, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So in other words, they smell money. So they'll just throw whatever and hope it sticks.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think you're making an unbased assumption claiming it "should" be connected to the universe they're banking on now.

In fact if they want to branch out, and not have the network look overly saturated by the "Justice League" universe then trying to diversify in the DC properties they're using might be what they're aiming for.
(Look at them picking iZombie for example)

As for your suggestions, I'm not banking on Aquaman. The type of undewater filming it would require too look decent would make it quite expensive. And even though personally I have nothing against Aquaman I believe overall he doesn't get much respect from fans (isn't he considered a little too campy by most?).

    ReplyDelete
  39. Unless Teen Titans uses Tim... which means Dick's up for grabs... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Love it! But I don't want them to oversaturate though, which is what happened with teen dramas and why The CW fell apart in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The comics are great, I've been rereading it...recently rewatched the original TNT version, which is very much meh, I'd love to see a cooler interpretation of it. Plus I think it could draw a similar audience to Arrow with all the characters being closer to 30 than 20 haha.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh god please not Aquaman. lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. I repeat... It's Terry... it's different... It's just not your usual Batman. And that's exactly what made Batman Beyond great! I'd looooooooove a live action BB.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The original show had some interesting things going for it. But I agree, overall it's quite faulty.

I'd easily follow a new version. However I don't think I'd like it too be too much teenyfied.
I think more of a SPN tone of the early years could be rather fitting.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I kind of think them gaining a reputation for action, sci-fi and fantasy will be more beneficial in the long run than teen dramas. :) Would be a mistake to let them completely overtake the lineup but, so far the genre ones seem to get the most buzz and attention so I think it's more likely that they can make that work for them as opposed to being home of Gossip Girl and a bunch of clones.

    ReplyDelete
  46. A female superhero would be nice.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pérola Cardozo Alves9 October 2014 at 23:56

Specilly if one of the writers on the site is right and CW may be owned just by WB, I think they would like Supers the best for their line up.
I'd love Birds of Prey, would be so fun, but, know won't happen. So, just maybe, can we get some original one?

    ReplyDelete
  48. You don't have to tell me, i know the difference quite well... But the tone of the show should be quite the same.

They need shows that could stand on it's own... It's going to be a show that for first sight the viewer knows it's different from Arrow and Flash. Just the treatment of colour on The Flash makes it be streets away of Arrow.

That's why i'm quite positive it's gonna be Green Lantern or Stargirl.

    ReplyDelete
  49. jump to minute 6 to see why it should be "oh god please"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTe76qJAEuk

    ReplyDelete
  50. and would still have to feature Bruce Wayne and the Batman brand. Thus connecting it to the DC cinematic universe wich DC is extremely protective of

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mmkay. Crossing my fingers for a live-action Super Friends series with the Wonder Twins, Samurai, Black Vulcan, & Apache Chief.

    ReplyDelete
  52. They didn't mind handing out a young!Bruce to Gotham... I can see how there might give the same leeway to handing an old!Bruce to Batman Beyond...

    ReplyDelete
  53. I also think the superhero shows, while not Breaking Bad, are better received and not as bad for the network's image. Shows like Gossip Girl and 90210 are pretty widely considered trash about rich white teenage girls and their superficial problems, which is how The CW got its reputation as a teenybopper channel. Comic book shows, at least in this day and age, have a wider appeal and are more respected than that. Also, they skew male, which is critical. Three or so years ago, The CW was considered a network strictly for girls in their teens or 20's. Moving away from that can only be good for them.

    ReplyDelete
  54. good point, still I remain sceptical of the possibility. It would be awesome though.

Would be forcing the CW to blow in a sh*tload of money though

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's not that... To the eye of the casual viewer, Batman is a superheroe with no powers, an expert on marcial arts, with a lot of gadgets, who lives on a tanked and dark city.

That's Arrow too... Green Arrow is like a more friendly version of Batman and Arrow is more in the tone of Batman than Green Arrow.

They need something that stands out at first sight: a female superheroe like Stargirl or a show like Green Lantern who is miles away.

I still would go for a female heroe... Stargirl is a good choice: No casual viewer knows her and they can toy a lot with her origin and lore. Also, Geoff Johns created her.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think people who are "casual viewers" not being able to place her, might not be good for Stargirl's odds.

    ReplyDelete
  57. ... and a real monkey dyed blue as Gleek?
    PETA would flip! XD

    ReplyDelete
  58. You don't think the slightly futuristic setting and the fact that the show will be set mostly in a high school won't differentiate it enough in tone from the Flash and Arrow? If that's the case then sir I respectfully disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Aquaman is freaking awesome!!!!! Why is he always treated badly by people...

He isn't the Super Friends character who rides sea-horses and always smiles... He's an awesome warrior, dammit!

    ReplyDelete
  60. It wouldn't anger them as much as my insistence that someone reboot Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It should be a female lead, set in the Arrow/Flash universe. Stargirl would be an interesting choice.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well I've never read his comics, I'm basing my objections on the Smallville approach to Aquaman, and that absolutely HORRID thing they called a pilot a few years ago, ugh, I will never forget how much I disliked that pilot. Until they can afford amazing CGI to compete with the best of what's already on TV, I'm gonna say it's a bad idea.

    ReplyDelete
  63. In other words, they see what's selling and being the marketable business that they are, they're producing what we're buying. It's economics 101. All networks are trying to get in on it now.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Zatanna, Nightwing or Suicide Squad would be my pick, but I heard TNT wants to do Nightwing.

    ReplyDelete
  65. My money is on Cyborg he was great on Smallville and the VFX were awesome and i would love to see is character on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Awesome. Very good news :D

    ReplyDelete
  67. It's working so well for them, I'm not surprised. It's a smart move.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I liked the old Birds of Prey show that the WB had.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I really wish this superhero fad will die already
    hate hate hate superheroes

    ReplyDelete
  70. they don't even need CGI, they need a martial arts experienced actor to pull the stunts.

As for Mercy Reef, it was far from terrible. Certainly better than some other pilots out there. But I'm glad it didn't come to pass, I liked Justin Hartleys portrayal of Oliver Queen (loyal to the character)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Lol! For the record it was unintentional.

I mean I did see it after I posted it, but meeeeh... His name is Dick, I really can't change that...

    ReplyDelete
  72. The thing is it's such an open genre. I feel like there's a superhero themed show that everyone can like just because they can be very different.

I hope whatever they come up with next you can enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  73. not directly, what killed Star Trek was the fact that Paramount decided to air Voyager and Enterprise on UPN. Wich skewed a COMPLETELY different audience. Airing it on the wrong network killed it. And let us not forget that the last Star Trek show they released was a prequel wich ultimately drove many fans away. Then the style of the show changed drastically from the rest and finally the shows plots began to feel forced.

Quality and wrong scheduling killed the show. There's A HUGE market for Star Trek, the only reason they're not doing another series is because they currently have a well going cinematic franchise on their hands. They're probably holding back TV projects for the time being.

I would expect a new tv show to be anounced the time Star Trek 3 starts its promo campaign

    ReplyDelete
  74. well it's not about Reign directly here but I get what CGS point is. 3 superhero themed shows are a bit too much, not that I wouldn't want another.

Remember: theCW has 3 days that are attracting solid ratings these days due to lower competition. Tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays are currently strong rating hits. having a superhero themed show on each of these days is going to push the network into a certain niché it might never escape (although it's a better niché than the one it's currently in)

I'm not a superhero TV-only fan. I'm highly invested in Supernatural and Originals. Shows that would probably be killed on that network then

    ReplyDelete
  75. Way way back in the day, TBS used to show this and the Monkees' TV show really early in the morning (5-6 AM) when I'd be up getting ready for school. Damn, I'm getting old.

    ReplyDelete
  76. We are different. I love superheroes.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Suicide Squad that way they could create a universe of three shows.

    ReplyDelete
  78. maybe Firestorm spinoff from Arrow, loving it Teen Titans in the works as well for tv.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oddly enough there is an NBC Wonder Woman pilot, but it's shit.

    ReplyDelete
  80. well I liked Smallville back when it was about Clark in smallville but in later seasons when they started introducing the superhero crap I hated it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. As long as it's another Arrow/The Flash spin-off I'm game. I don't think they will choose a female heroine though as it would go up against CBS' Supergirl next year. Also, the more known the character the higher chances for that 1.9 to repeat itself.

    ReplyDelete
  82. So If they do Marvel that changes it?

    ReplyDelete
  83. They can't do Marvel even if they wanted to. Disney owns Marvel and ABC is a Disney owned Station, that means any Marvel tv stuff that's made will be on ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Okay, i think i got it: What about a show from the point of view of supevillain Snowflame? U know, that weird character, from the super weirdos New Guardians, who gets strong by doin' cocaine... xD

    ReplyDelete
  85. Not surprise since Arrow and The Flash are doing so well..A a superheroine show would be great

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hahahaha, I'm not gonna try and dissect this one and give myself a headache thinking who it could be. I'll just wait til it's announced.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Well if superheroes is working for them, then bring it!

    ReplyDelete
  88. LOL, how can someone hate superheroes? Not being a fan of the genre is one thing, but "hate?"

    ReplyDelete
  89. Christopher DeBono10 October 2014 at 05:46

DC's finally started using his name as a pun so it actually fits :P
    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/10/02/its-time-for-dc-comics-to-make-all-the-jokes-everyone-else-has-been-making-for-ever/

    ReplyDelete
  90. I like that idea. I think that would cover the main three types of heroes in the comic universe. Ordinary Humans, Meta-Humans and Magic. The question is who? It'd be great if they could involve Zatanna but I don't think she'd be a big enough name to pull the numbers on her own. Unless she's in Arrow or Flash for a while and people love her first.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I've always liked Roy's comic story arcs but obviously, Arrow not being about Roy, I never expect them to delve into them all. If they could introduce Jason Todd/Red Hood in Arrow and Starfire in Flash and make them well liked characters I could see a Red Hood and the Outlaws show working. I don't think Roy would be able to bring in viewers on his own but maybe with a Batman character and some alien superpowers it could be interesting enough.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Exactly. Aliens MAY be a bit too much still for that shared universe, but bringing in a character that revolves around magic would be pretty cool. I think Zatanna could work, or maybe using BOTH Zatanna and her father.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I think your best bit is if TNT picks up the Titans pilot as a series, and connects the universe with Arrow's.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm going with another Arrow spin-off. The Suicide Squad or Birds of Preys here we come.

If not then I'm going to go with the supposedly 'dead' Wonder Woman series or the Supergirl series that isn't suppose to be coming to the CW actually coming to pass after all.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Even though they said that CBS would be taking on Supergirl, CBS and the CW are basically the same network. So it's likely they'll move Supergirl to the CW. Something like this happened before with the SMG show where she played her twin. I'm hoping for a Superman series. Sure, Smallville was nice but we didn't get to see Superman until the last 10 minutes of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Supergirl is in development over at CBS

    ReplyDelete
  97. Glad I'm not the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  98. With all the Ferris Air references in both Flash and the Arrow. I'm wondering if it isn't a Green Lantern show. It's not like good shows haven't sprung from failed movies before.......anyone remember a certain vampire slayer?

Or if they want to keep spinning of from the Flash/Arrow verse I guess a Suicide Squad or some incarnation of Birds of Prey if they want to go female-centric is also a possibility.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Not everyone likes people with overexposed body parts trying to save the world.

    ReplyDelete
  100. That's not a bad idea at all, use Tim Drake for Titans and then D....uh, Nightwing is free and swinging.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Great analysis. But you can't take both ladies away from Arrow...think of the poor shippers. What would they fight about then?

    ReplyDelete
  102. I cant see them doing Batman Beyond, especially while Batman's still in upcoming movies but yeah it'd be awesome to see one of the Bat family members done like Terry McGinnis (Batman Beyond), Damien Wayne (Robin), Dick Grayson (Nightwing), some others to throw in there could be things like

Green Lantern, we've already seen numerous references to Ferris Aircraft

Teen Titans/Young Justice would also be good with people like Robin, Superboy, Wondergirl, Kid Flash, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy with cameos from other shows

My last option would have to be someone unique like Aquaman or Blue Beetle

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well, I wish reality TV and "case of the week" cop/doctor/lawyer procedurals would die already, but that's not happening any time soon, or, likely, ever. And even if every single superhero show currently in development gets made, there are still going to be 5 times as many shows of the types I mentioned. Soooo... you're just going to have to tough it out.

    ReplyDelete
  104. HA!!! Now that made my day... Thank you for sharing... :D

    ReplyDelete
  105. I don't like any kind of procedurlas as well, but they don't make so many movies about cop/doctor/lawyers at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I hope it has a female lead even though not many super heroes come to mind immediately

If not, if he's trying to swerve us, Birds Of Prey or SUICIDE SQUAD!

    ReplyDelete
  107. You have pointed directly at DC, basically saying if they choose anyone else it would be different. That sounds more fanboy gripe. Anyway CW and DC are Warner Bros so they would go DC anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Thx! Birds of Prey for me is not going to happen since Felicity is one of the 3 main characters of the main show and is the character that shows the human side of Oliver(wich is very important for him as a character...). Katie Cassidy maybe could spin off to a Black Canary show but i can't see it stand on it's own...

A Stargirl show with The Atom(i really loved Arrow's Atom, wich is kind of a mix of Palmer and Kord)... that could be interesting and will have it's own identity, being a departure from both Arrow and Flash but still could be crossover(Also she was created by Geoff Johns, who is very involved on both Arrow and Flash). They'll have to change her staff's origin, but it's just a side character for the casual reader that it shouldn't be a problem.

Green Lantern is a huge posibility, but i'm worried about the budget... while on earth it shouldn't be a big problem but what about when meeting with the other Lanterns? Can they pull that on network tv and seem credible? Even the movie sucked at that and had millons behind... but after seeing Flash i'm quite optimistic.

Still i still want the Stargirl/Atom show...

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hold on. Do you remember the niche it was during Ostroff's run as president? The 18-34 Female Network. It's what put the network on the downslide and prompted them to bring Pedowitz in and change it to what it is and stabilize it some.

As for other shows getting killed. A third comic book show is not going to kill the Originals and it certainly isn't going to kill Supernatural. Supernatural is going as long as Ackles and Padalecki want it to go.

All a third CB show will do is kill the lowest rated program M-Thu and it may not even kill it. Might just bump it to Friday night.

    ReplyDelete
  110. "What's selling" is debatable. The "give us a superhero, any superhero" mentality doesn't exactly give hope of a quality product. The problem with the "monkey see, monkey do" economic approach is that it usually backfires. It's been backfiring on the television industry for a while now.

    ReplyDelete
  111. So you're saying that the success of of the comic and superhero genre of TV is debatable?
As a fan of Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, The Walking Dead, Agents of Shield, and soon to be Agent Carter and hopefully, Constantine, I disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  112. The inevitability of a success of a show just because it has a comic book is debatable. AOS is gonna have to be dragged kicking and screaming to syndication and Agent Carter for that reason already is in trouble. I am not opposed to new comic book adaptations. But "get us a comic show, any comic" should worry fans of comic book adaptations. It's a sign that the network isn't gonna be focused on quality if they don't even have a show in mind. AOS was made with the hope that being Marvel would make it a smash hit. That worked for 1 episode. They should learn from AOS and have genuine vision in their adaptions, and not the hope for easy money with no thought.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thats great and it was expected given The Flash premier

    ReplyDelete
  114. geez. it's called sarcasm lighten up

why is it so hard for you to believe not everyone enjoys pretty much any version of a story about masked vigilante going around fighting crime for his idea of the greater good.

    ReplyDelete
  115. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Since they didn't give Ted Kord to Arrow may be a Blue Beetle show.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Only they will need CGI, and for what this show will require in CGI to be passable, they'll need good expensive CGI, which I doubt they can afford... and most likely they will also need underwater filming, which is expensive, period.

    ReplyDelete
  118. being experienced enough with CGI: building virtual sets isn't that hard, underwater shots can easily be done with a classic fluid solution wich is even creatable for amateurs like me.

Wouldn't need more than The Flash does tbh

    ReplyDelete
  119. Doctor Fate or Blue Beetle :)

    ReplyDelete
  120. Doctor Fate would be awesome :)

  121. TNT is developing Teen Titans with Nightwing as the leader of the team.

  122. Being experienced enough with filming and production I would disagree.

I'm not saying there aren't cheap and cheaper ways to do it, I'm just saying to do it justice it would need the expensive stuff.
And for a character that people will come in skeptical because their default is to make fun of Aquaman you'd have to be able to sell it.

  123. The beauty of Aquaman would be the fact that there wouldn't be a requirement for millions of set pieces. A green/violet room for the Atlantis scenes à Once Upon a Time and exteriors are basically it.

And remember: martial arts make ever hero cooler. Seen the video I posted? That fighting style would force every nay sayer to rethink their opinion.

I saw some fume in the Flashs season premiere (the tornado and particle effects were fantastic!). Seriously there wouldn't be a demand for higher CGI than on the Flash

If anything CGI would pose the least issues on that project. The casting is what would bother me the most.

  124. Yes, because the CGI on OUaT -a show which does have money BTW- is sooooo good...

Pilots are not a good indicator of what the actual final look for the show is going to be BTW. They have more time and more money when they make pilots.
When you go into a production your time and money gets cut approximately in half, you might not pay attention but the quality of the CG tends to suffer a bit from that.

As for comparing effects: Land & air effects have their difficulties but there's room for error.
Water is more... it's more complicated. You have interaction between a new environment which has physical substance, different gravitation variables. There are ripple affects, waves, levitation, floating of people, their hair, their clothes, things you need to take into consideration and you need to be able to make that look real and to refine he things that are "eh".

Full on animation for a Aquaman is a much better option if you ask me.

  125. I never said everyone has to enjoy it. Read my words carefully. I said I don't understand how someone can "hate" superheroes. I reserve my hate for killers and rapists.

  126. well that's simple. it's pretty easy to hate something when it annoys you. superheroes are plenty annoying to me

  127. Hate is a very strong word. As I said, I reserve that word for extreme things. Not silly, trivial things.

  128. Maybe resurrect Aquaman? Which then starred Justin Hartley on the titular title and eventually playing Arrow on Smallville.

Don't even go to the Green Lantern road. The movie was a disaster.

I missed "Birds of Prey" from the old The WB.

  129. That's fine with me.

    CBS - Cop Network
CW - The DC Network, coming this 2015. LOL
    ABC - Shondaland Network
    NBC - The Karaoke Network
