Noooooo, I knew this was gonna happen but damn such a quality show and a lot better than some of the channel's recent drama series that got renewed. Damn it.
ReplyDeleteOh that's sad.
ReplyDeleteNever gave it a shot anyway but still, it looked enjoyable.
Nooo :(
ReplyDeleteAnd the Swedish/Danish original show is loosing its male lead, which worries me.
SHIT!!! F**K THIS SHIT!!! ARRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is very upsetting news. :(
I really thought FX would have stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! What?!? Why?!? The second season was so good, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad i never caught up..
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I only watched the first 2 episodes. They were fine, but I had no interest in watching the rest of the show.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised in the least..
ReplyDeleteAs a HUGE fan of the original Danish/ Swedish series Bron | Broen, I truly tried to get into the US version, but a few episodes into Season 2 I quit watching. It simply does not compare to the quality of the original.
Meanwhile, Under the Dome gets renewed for its third season, because of course it is...
ReplyDeleteYou can blame Americans for that.
ReplyDeleteMe too...
ReplyDeleteI think the relationship between Saga and Martin is the center of the show. It might be interesting to see how Saga deals with losing her first and only real friend.
I heard their is a possibility Kim Bodnia could return in future seasons, but who knows. If they write him out for Season 3 he may never come back.
No surprise, ratings were almost bad (0.3 / 0.4).
ReplyDeleteI liked The Bridge but I'm not all surprised. In fact, I called this awhile back. FX would have gotten better ratings airing the the test pattern or the yule log.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Eng.Fr. version of The Tunnel. Stephen Dillane and Clémence Poésy were fantastic.
ReplyDeleteVery disappointed by FX's decision. Even though I disliked the ending of the season, I really enjoyed the show. On top of that, I feel sorry for all of the people who worked on the show. When I visited the set, they were very, very nice and inviting. It was clear they were proud of their work and enjoyed showing it off. I really hope they're able to move past this cancellation quickly and find work elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI have heard bad things about Bron/Broen season 2, but I really liked the first season. The British version was well done and great if you wanted to see fewer changes from the original version, but the writers of the American version had very little interest in the serial killer story line in season 1 and always had more interest in expanding the show beyond the plot of the original version. The American version did a good job with most of the stuff they did that was different than the original version, but a horrible job with the serial killer story line in season 1.
ReplyDeleteIm glad i did continue this show. Because it`s one of the best shows this year. The second season was The Wire-esque.
ReplyDeleteWell, i have seen everything of the danish/swedish series. I am also of danish-decent, but norwegian. The Bridge season 2 was superior to even season 1 of Bron/Broen. The way it took into the drug trade between US and Mexico was glorious. I think you`re just so fan you didn't give the american one a chance when it actually had something original to tell.
ReplyDeleteThe American version of the Bridge should have done what the Tunnel did with the Saga/Sonya/Elise character. They changed the two scenes that the American audiences hated that the American version did not change from the original (Sonya stopping the ambulance from leaving the Bridge, Sonya questioning the widow of the woman killed) and made the character of Elise a little less abrasive at first.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, it was good, but not that good. I would seriously doubt it was one of the best shows of 2014.
ReplyDeleteHelin is great as Saga in season 1 and the performance is high praised, but as the guy who has to act opposite of her, Bodnia is equally as compelling as her.
ReplyDeleteNot all Americans
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad. :(
ReplyDeletenot a surprise as it was struggling in the ratings, but I am very disappointed as this was a great show that I was hoping to get a closing arc so we could see what happens to these very interesting characters.... going to miss this show
ReplyDeleteNot surprised. The second season had no direction whatsoever and the finale was blah! Fortunately season 1 (the only good season) was so stand alone-ish that I'll pretend that the series only had one season and blank out that horrible second season from my mind.
ReplyDeleteI am cursed to wander the earth to find a favorite show that does not get cancelled prematurely by shortsighted suits . Such a sad year for me- The Killing, Longmire, and The Bridge all gone.
ReplyDeleteYou did not think Eleanor's portrayal was superb in the second season ?
ReplyDeleteThere are rumors that it is looking for other networks so hopefully it will find one. I really think this show being on Netflix would really help it.
ReplyDeleteSeason one got me into this show and I thought that season two was awesome but damn, I should've saw this coming, considering that many people were saying that this past season was not as good as the first, etc. Sigh. Well, at least there is banshee, justified, strike back, and some other shows on my list.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually surprised that tyrant was renewed for a second season.
Lol. I only watched the first two eps then gave up on it after that, to be honest. But then I was reading a Review on here about the 7th or 8th episode and it sounded so intriguing that I had to binge watch to catch up to the final, Lol. It was not that bad. Definitely not bad enough to get cancelled, but there are tons of factors that go into that decision.
ReplyDeleteI agree Bron Season 2 was a drop overall from Season 1..but I still preferred it to Season 2 of the US series.
ReplyDeleteI just could not get into Season 2 of The Bridge (US)... It was a completely different story so I really looked at it as a unique entity.
The acting was still solid, but sadly I just found it boring and never could get into it.
I think just like Season 2 was a test for the US series, Season 2 of The Tunnel will be a test for the Anglo-French version.
ReplyDeleteAll the first seasons excelled because of the original source material being so good.
Although the material was a bit of a problem for US season 2, I think I had more of an issue with Diane Kruger's portrayal of her character. I don't know if it was a script problem or an acting choice but I swear that for the vast majority of S2 her Asperger's had all but disappeared.
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I saw enough to comment on that honestly...
ReplyDeletePersonally though, she never really captured the character as well as Sofia Helin portrayed Saga Noren or Clemency Posey portrayed Elise. I always thought the cast around Diane Kruger was the strength of the show. She was the weak link to me.
The thing that bothered me most was the direction the show took the characters as well as the story. It just left me wanting on most levels.
Kruger didn't bother me in season one. It was that awful drug tunnel story with Annabeth Gish as Charlotte Millwright that I couldn't stand. That nonsense stopped every S1 episode dead in its tracks.
ReplyDeleteKruger never bothered me enough to make stop watching honestly - The story did that.
ReplyDeleteI agree.. the drug story just bored me to tears.
In the first season even if I did not enjoy it, I could deal with it since it was in the background... When it was moved from B-plot to both A-plot and B-plot it was too much for me.
If I was in charge of programming at WGN, I would seriously be considering picking up either The Bridge or Longmire, it might be worth it for PR purposes alone.
ReplyDeleteI dont care what you think Daniel Walsh. I still think that`s it`s one of the better shows of 2014. Let me have a own opinion without you being a douche. I still like True Detective, Rectify, Transparent, upcoming Oliver Kitteridge and some other shows better. But stil easliy in my top 15.
ReplyDeleteOh, man! This was one of my favorite shows, although I could have done without the elevated level of blood-letting this season. It's so sad that Americans prefer repetitive procedurals to intelligent drama with three dimensional characters and thespians who seem to BE those characters as opposed to just acting like them.
ReplyDeleteOh well. At least it ended with things more or less wrapped up.
ReplyDeletecan we swear in this comments section? Can I call FX various unpleasant names? what if I do it in Greek, can I say nasty things about FX in greek?
ReplyDeleteSo tired of the networks cancellations... I mean the Tyrant and not the Bridge? Really FX? really?
#$%#$%$%^$% you FX... just %$@#$#@$ you...
I am a fan of the original and I enjoyed the US version as well.
ReplyDeletethe truth is, this is a show that fits the NEtflix format of releasing all episodes at once.
ReplyDeleteit is a tough show to watch every week.
I also noticed that her Asperger's wasn't very apparent in season 2, which bothered me because I really liked they way she was portrayed in season 1. I definitely think it was intentionally held back more because the writers were probably trying to make her more broadly appealing, which is a shame.
ReplyDelete#NotAllAmericans.
ReplyDeleteWoah, woah, woah, Tyrant got renewed? I barely know what Tyrant IS. How did it pull off better ratings than The Bridge?
ReplyDeletenoooooo! But I knew it. Now please God protect Perception!!! Would cry forever if it gets cancelled
ReplyDeleteI think tyrant had slightly better ratings, nothing impressive though..
ReplyDeleteIts good you dont know what Tyrant is. Trust me! :D
She lost the handle she had on her character. She went "full retard" with the Jack Dobbs arc and suddenly became a normal person afterwards.
ReplyDeleteAnyone that watched season 2 isn't really surprised. Atleast the ending tied everything up.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Fry needs a spinoff!
Also, can anyone tell me what was the point of Charlotte Millwright?
Longmire would be a great fit.
ReplyDeleteShe started out pretty hot but kinda pooped at the end.
ReplyDeleteFranka did a great job.
Very disappointing. Such a smart, well made series.
ReplyDeleteI was just joking about not knowing what it is. I really haven't seen much advertisement for it, though.
ReplyDeleteNice way to end the month to find out one of my favorite summer shows is cancelled. I had to hear it from mom, but I had to make sure it was really cancelled before I blew my top. Grr. This makes me so mad. I was starting to think FX had something worthy of watching. This was the only show I watched on that network. Better than most of the junk I find on tv these days.
