The 100 - The 48 - Season 2 Premiere Advance Preview: "Home"

Home.

One online dictionary defines the word as "any place of residence or refuge"

While I concur with that definition, I can't help wondering whether the remaining members of The 100 can call Earth a home, or, for that matter, the remaining survivors on board the doomed Ark which hit the ground in the closing moments of The 100's fantastic 2 part first season finale.

That's another debate on its own, but it's an interesting premise to begin with.

Myself, Daniel, and Pablo covered The CW's hit post-apocalyptic drama for SpoilerTV earlier this year for its freshman season. The CW generously provided us with a first look at several of the season's episodes, and we're pleased to announce that they've done the same for this season, so before we delve any further into the events of the second season premiere, we think a big thank you to The CW is very much in order!

Titled, rather cryptically I might add, "The 48," the premiere was written by creator and executive producer Jason Rothenberg, and directed by Dean White. In short, the premiere is full of action, contains plenty of answers, and will leave you hanging out for more.

If you watched this sneak peek of the premiere, you've already seen the first three minutes of the episode. If you guessed the white rooms were in the bowels of the infamous Mt. Weather, you'd be correct. Put simply, despite being on a first name basis with the President of the underground community, played by Raymond J. Barry, the whole thing feels uneasy to Clarke. Enough said on that subject, but the President confirms why his lot are holed up inside the mountain, why the Grounders are somewhat mutated, and why the people of the Ark haven't suffered any effects from the remaining radiation.

One of the biggest questions hanging over the heads of the fans during the summer was the welfare of the two main men, Bellamy and Finn. Raina revealed in late August that actor Bob Morley had been filming, and him and Thomas McDonnell are listed as series regulars. I'm leaving it up to the premiere to reveal to you whether pair survived the weapon of mass destruction set off by Jasper last season, but interestingly, Raven and a guy by the name of Murphy make it through. There's a powerful scene between the latter pair which was one of the best scenes in the episode.

The season 1 finale saw Octavia do a runner with Lincoln. Their predicament isn't ideal to say the least, and will take some weeks to resolve, but we do get to see where the inspiration for Lincoln's name originates. The duo don't see a lot of screen time in the premiere, which is instead allocated to the survivors from the Ark's crash-landing, and Mt. Weather. Led by Kane, the adults are quick to assert their authority over the juveniles they come across, while Jaha's fate hangs in the balance.

Coming back to the word 'Home'. From what I've seen of the upcoming season, it's clear that nowhere is safe for any of the colonies we met in the first season. As we begin to crack open the secrets to a rapidly changing world, everyone will be put to the test, and only the best will survive. Buckle up for some seriously weird, exciting stuff, because 'The 48' really is the just tip of the iceberg on what looks to be an excellent upcoming season.

Thanks for checking out my preview for the second season premiere of The 100! Myself, Daniel, Pablo, and the rest of the SpoilerTV team are really looking forward to covering the series for you. Be sure to check in immediately after the premiere on October 22, 9|8c, for our exclusive roundtable discussion and analysis of the episode.

Lastly, 'Home' is also the title of a beautiful piece of music by Dotan, which features in the closing stages of the premiere. It's well worth a listen! We'd love to hear your thoughts and theories in the comments below, and if you have a question, we may even be able to answer it! 4. Great preview jimmy! I also liked the premiere a lot, it was quite strong and it seems to be setting up really interesting dynamics.
I may add that Clarke is becoming one of my favorite characters, which is remarkable since she one of the characters I liked the least during the show's pilot; how far the show has come from that moment :)

  17. I'm not surprised that the adults will try to assert their authority on the 100 or at least what's left of them. I just hope Bellamy and especially Clarke won't stand for that. Otherwise i'll be very disappointed. Will i be disappointed.

    Bad english, sorry :/
