Stalker - Phobia - Review: "The only fear is fear itself"

One of the highlights of Stalker is definitely its use of music. As far as I remember, every episode has had a song at the end that fit the episode very well. Wednesday's episode was no exception.

This week we saw a stalker who uses his victim's phobias to harass them. The first victim is Kristin, who is afraid of the darkness. She finds all her lights turned off after she comes out of the bathroom, and she becomes terrified as a man is filming her and escapes through the window. Kristin later tells Beth and Jack that she had been on an internet dating website. Her date from the same night, Zack, had actually seen her attacker but was overpowered and put in the trunk of his own car. After a second victim that has a phobia for snakes is attacked, the TAU cross references her dating website with Kristin's, and find a man named Chris Powell. It appears he raped a woman a few years before, and Jack and Beth pay her a visit. She moved to a high apartment building because her rapist is afraid of heights. In the meantime a third victim is abducted who is scared of drowning (honestly, who wouldn't be?) and the clock is ticking. After Beth and Jack arrest Chris, Jack goes to the rooftop to get him to confess where the third victim is. Janice and Ben are able to save her in time.

Elsewhere in the hour, Jack and Janice have "drinks" and Beth's friend Tracy tells her she's seeing someone. As it later turns out, that someone is actually Perry a.k.a. Beth's stalker. Sleeping with Tracy appears to be part of his big long-term plan, of which the endgame is to kill Beth. And by the way, Beth Davis is not really Beth Davis. Perry finds out that she didn't exist until 12 years ago and that there are no birth records of her. I'm guessing she changed her name after the whole stalking incident she has been through herself.

This episode was quite a creepy one but I enjoyed it. I find it interesting to discover what people's phobias are as everybody is afraid of something. I am also interested to see where the story with Beth's stalker is going and how that will unfold.

I am not sure about Jack and Janice's affair though. It was good to not see Jack as the creepy stalker but I am not sure if getting him with Janice is going to change him. After all, he says he is afraid to make the same mistakes again. I am glad that there was somewhat of a bonding moment between Jack and Beth as I did not really like her hate towards him over the past couple of episodes. Apparently Ben still has a grudge against Jack but at this point I don't really get why.

What did you think of this week's episode? Did you find it creepy? How do you think the story with Beth's stalker will unfold? And what are you feelings towards a Jack/Janice pairing? Sound off with your opinions in the comments below.

Here is a promo for next week's episode. It's very low quality so if someone has a better video, feel free to post the link in the comments.
