We’ve met Sleepy Hollow‘s versions of historical figures like George Washington and Ben Franklin; now the Fox drama is about to remember the ladies.
Michelle Trachtenberg has been cast as founding mother Abigail Adams, TVLine has learned exclusively.
The Buffy the Vampire vet will play the First Lady — her husband was John Adams, America’s second president — in an upcoming episode.
In addition to being the second FLOTUS, Abigail was mother to future President John Quincy Adams and an early advocate of equal rights for women.
In typical Sleepy fashion, we’ll learn that Abigail had a secret life that involved Katrina Crane. (Ooh, maybe Mrs. Adams hung out with the Sisterhood of the Radiant Heart from time to time?)
Trachtenberg’s TV resume also includes stints on Gossip Girl, Weeds, Criminal Minds and NCIS. She recently played Marina Oswald in National Geographic Channel’s Killing Kennedy.

Dawn from Buffy is going to play one of my favorite women in history. Not sure I can do that. No disrespect to Trachtenberg, but Dawn scarred me for life.
ReplyDeleteInteresting casting I'll have to see her in the role
ReplyDeleteI always loved Dawn. But then again I didn't ever see the show until it was over and I had the DVDs at my disposal. And that ending when she suddenly has a sister is one my favorites of the series, for some reason. lol
ReplyDeletewatched her all the way back from the Buffy days...was an annoying nuisance on the show...she's grown so much its crazy..hope her acting abilities have grown as well...
ReplyDelete29 year old Michelle Trachtenberg will be amazing as First Lady, Abigail Adams.
ReplyDeleteI always loved Dawn too!
ReplyDeleteFun casting news! Love Michelle.

ReplyDeleteI swear i love there castin so much
ReplyDeleteShe scared me more in Gossip Girl. At least she was kind of cute in Buffy.. But I'm excited for this. She always brings something new to every character..
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think of her in that old movie 'Harriet the Spy' from when I was a kid :p. Either that or I think of her stalking Reid's girlfriend on "Criminal Minds". Talk about a drastic difference in characters!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've liked her in what I have seen with her, though, so I'm looking forward to seeing her on here. Especially intrigued about Abigail and Katrina's connection-given Ichabod knows so many historical male figures, it's a neat idea to have his wife knowing a historical female one. I'll be interested to see what that's all about, and if it connects to anything involving John Adams as well. I love the way this show plays with U.S. history.
I'm intrigued by the connections as well..never really watched criminal minds so I have no idea how much she's progressed...the story leads u into a lot of interesting paths so I'm assuming it will be worth it..
ReplyDeleteI hated Dawn. That character ruined Buffy for me. As long as this new character isn't annoying and whiney, she should be okay.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a casting who i was hoping to me more modern version so we can see her more!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
ReplyDeleteThis might be neat!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I really like her and unlike most people i didn't mind her character in Buffy..
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think it is a mixture of Dawn and Georgina (from Gossip Girl) that makes Michelle really unappealing to me! :-/
ReplyDeleteAbigail Adams is one of my favorite historic people and to have her portrayed by an actress, who, in my opinion, just isn't that talented makes me sad and having it done on one of my favorite shows makes me ever sadder. Hope she is only on one episode.
ReplyDeleteIt's an odd phenomenon: people that watched live could never stand Dawn whereas people that binged the series grew to like her.
ReplyDeleteI always liked her due to being a tiny whiny baby when watching Buffy, so I never really hated anyone on that show but looking at how there will always be one annoying character on every show I guess that was Dawns purpose
She will definitely be in more than one episode. If it was just one she would have been listed as a guest star.
ReplyDeleteI only saw her once or twice and didn't really care for her but i hope she is good in this?
ReplyDeleteI saw the headline and thought.. What??? You must be joking. = /
ReplyDeletePeople that hate Dawn deserve a stern disapproving look.
ReplyDeletehmmmm, interesting casting....... I will wait to see how she does.
ReplyDelete...... 'a secret tie to Katrina' - who DOESN'T ?!? I am begining to seriously wonder about her. I have said it before (eventually a Horseman?) - she has waaay too many secrets and lies, I trust her less and less with each one.
I hate Dawn Not only was she very annoying but her appearance hallmarked the decline of Buffy.
