Selfie - With A Little Yelp From My Friends - Review : "Everybody Needs a Lunch Buddy"

"My relationship with my phone is pretty serious, I eat, sleep and breathe it."

Selfie's third episode begins with Eliza greeting Henry with the familiar "How were you", to which she then tries her best to pay attention to Henry's response, as Henry says keeping eye contact is vital, it lets them know your paying attention or at least trying too... But making silly faces as Eliza did isn't helping the case. But like anyone who ends up lost in their own thoughts, Eliza blurts out the first things she thinks off when Henry asks her something, hella #embarrasing.

If ever anyone asks to hold onto your phone, lick it furiously, the salvia may be just what you need to stop them from taking it. Wish I had told this to some of my friends during school who used to get their phones confiscated, kids listen up, this is your hall pass (so to speak)!

For a seemingly popular marketing business, well thats what I assume they are, I mean Henry rebranded a drug that caused #satanic hallucinations and made them better, you'd think they'd have smarter employees. None of them will be getting that hallowed 'Employee of the Month' plaque anytime soon.

Interesting fact about Eliza, we learn she digests better standing up but hunches over conveniently a trash can eating her sandwich #antisocial behavior alert. just because you have "perfectly symmetrical features and hair like Ariel" doesn't mean people won't give you a #zero.

#Huns guys, this is the new hungry #LOL. Henry tells Eliza that no matter your differences with someone, it doesn't mean that you can't interact or get along with them, bringing us to todays episode lesson - Befriend: Joan. Joan not only gave Eliza a 0 but is also annoyed at Eliza for blatantly eating her lunch from the fridge. One thing that always is a constant in this show is Eliza's constant beauty and Henry's always charming personality which Karen Gillan and John Cho bring #effortlessly to the screen.

We learn Joan is Facebook free, a Twitter Quitter and Insta-Invisible but she's all up on Yelp, thanks to the help of Charmonique, I'm really liking the slowly developing friendship between Eliza and her. So Eliza makes her way to 'Miss Mandy's Friday Nights Straight Up Now Tone Me Cardio Class' - seriously how does this business survive with a such a long name, maybe we'll shorten it to #MMFNSUNTMCC, nope even that's a mouthful.

On the other hand, Henry #literally bumps into Larry with "hot tea", how then confides into Henry. I must say Henry would be quite the good psychologist/ therapist or counsellor. Later Eliza's at the Cardio Place where she pretends to be a usual customer, "Holy crap, bitch slap me all over my whole entire face." Like anyone trying to befriend someone she recites a bunch of #mumbo jumbo that the person their trying to impress likes, to which Joan responds to well, surprisingly. However this memorised game plan may cause Eliza some #problems since they'll #probs be heading into deeper #convos. Cue the girls working out to "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul, this is the second time I've heard this song since MTV's Faking It, maybe its a #comeback.

Henry's boss, Sam Saperstein, tells us Henry and Larry used to be #microwaveburriobuddies and that Henry should be a #bestie and support Larry during his divorce #dontnotbetheirforhim. For a boss, he sure is one to burst people's personal bubbles, telling Henry "he smells good".

Eliza's determined attitude saw her running after Joan, I think Channing Tatum would be proud of our Eliza, thus far as for a self obsessed media mogul she's not been on her phone much this episode.

Larry sleeps over at Henry's house and has an emotional outburst but the usually antisocial Henry gives him some good advice all romantic type movies have taught us "Make a Romantic Gesture" or #Flashmob! Eliza phones Henry telling her of her progress on her assignment, she was invited over for a Pizza Party at Joan with her husband. Eliza blurts out some useful stats for the Pizza Store, a common feature Siri must have taught her, I wonder if Eliza watched the movie Her. But like all secrets and lies then come undone as easily as unfriending someone on Facebook. Eliza steps into Stalker territory, she tells Joan her husband is allergic to oregano, something Joan hasn't yet divulged with her.

Joan starts interrogating her to discover Eliza's a Yelp Stalker, someone call Beth Davis from CBS' Stalker, even though Eliza was just trying to get to know her. Eliza admitting her wanting to "know" Joan is some great character development, she's slowly in three episodes become more in touch with her human side and put down that fancy, bejeweled iPhone. For someone perceived to be antisocial by the series title "Selfie" Eliza is definitely coming out for shell in the most fun and quirky way, which Karen Gillan does a great job at.

As per any office, the receptionist is usually the one to know all the gossip and Charmonique definitely does. She's onto Henry and Larry's flashmob and warns that Nancy, Larry's ex wife #hates flash mobs! Eliza like always confides in her trusted rebrander, "it was going so well" but like anyone trying to hard, they mess things up along the way. Henry in turn confides in her, "The Great Henry, The Great" about him being no better than her at office friendships and that he pretended to be friends with Larry. It's definitely clear Eliza and Henry are becoming trusting friends regardless of their polar personalities.

Henry's sweet side comes out at the end of this episode. Since Eliza eats alone over a trash can he buys her one in his office to eat over which she #likes. Even if it might be so that she'd eat with him or it's just being concerned about her need digestion and how important it is to eat standing up. However Eliza confides the real and tear bringing truth, as a child growing up no one ever wanted to sit with her a lunch, something I feel everyone has gone through at some stage in their lives. Like all habitats, people grow found of them and in Eliza's case. Henry then joins her over the trash can, probably the most touching scene I've seen in the show so far.
"When a friendship is real you can feel it and no disrespect to Channing Tatum but it probably doesn't need to be rated on a scale from 1 to 10 although if I were going to.. maybe we didn't such at friendships after all"
