Potentially good news for fans of Fox’s Red Band Society. The network has ordered four more scripts of the Wednesday night Glee-meets-The Fault in Our Stars drama series.
The move keeps the production’s momentum underway should the network want to fully commit to more episodes. In renewal/cancellation terms, such a decision typically means the network hasn’t made up its mind yet on a show’s fate (previously, Fox ordered six more episodes of new Monday night drama Gotham).

Wow. I'm actually a bit shocked considering everyone has this pegged for cancellation.
ReplyDeleteodd, I would have thought they wanted to kill the show quickly now. BUT it's just a script order
ReplyDeletejust a script order, not a full season pickup yet.
ReplyDeleteIt's stupid because FOX doesn't have a place for the show in mid season .
ReplyDeleteAnd the wait for the first cancellation goes on...
ReplyDeletenot really, just means paying the writers for a few additional scripts. Not too pricy
ReplyDeleteI know the show is going to get cancelled anyway but shows the sad state FOX is in right now. Great show though :)
ReplyDeleteMore scripts? What does FOX have against trees? No more scripts. Save a tree - kill a show. :P
ReplyDeleteManhattan Love Story will be pulled before November Sweeps. It registered a puny 0.7 in the 18-49 demo last night, which hit a series low despite its lead-in, Selfie went up a tenth.
ReplyDeleteMakes no sense to me in the slightest why they ordered more scripts for MLS.
ReplyDeletethey should write on re-used paper from now on. Best they start with writing on un-used Red Band Society scripts
ReplyDeleteI like it.
ReplyDeleteLOL Fox
ReplyDeleteI am more than happy. I know it's going to get cancel at the end but im enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteNot to defend the show but ABC owns the show. That was mainly the only reason.
ReplyDeletePeople underestimate FOX. They've changed a lot and are much more patient than they used to be. If they continue it could benefit their reputation, considering there are people who refuse to watch them because of stuff they canceled a decade ago haha
ReplyDelete"Glee-meets-The Fault in Our Stars" Really? Really?
ReplyDeleteWOW. This has 'great news' written all over it for Gotham and Sleepy Hollow.
ReplyDeleteYou know...there's a fine line between airing Firefly completely out of order and canning it because of your own scheduling mistakes and keeping a show around that really performs terribly.
ReplyDeleteI'm still bitter about Firefly and I'm glad that FOX tries to reinvent itself (the only reason I tip my hat to Kevin Riley) but keeping that show around really doesen't benefit their rep at all. Not after the Glee 2-season renewal
By now though there's been several CEO changes and the executives in charge have most likely been recycled a couple times as well. So FOX in 2014 is a completely different network than millennial FOX. Same with ABC and NBC. Which is why I find it silly that people can't or won't just let these things go. Their goals and motivations change every few years so I never hold grudges against networks, the only thing that leads to is missing out on great shows.
ReplyDeleteYay! I know season 2 is basically impossible with the show's ratings the way they are but I'm all up for more episodes!
ReplyDeleteWhile everything is crumbling on FOX, this show has been steady. I know the ratings are not great, but I could see them pairing this with Glee at some point, though I know it will inevitably be cancelled.
ReplyDeleteSeriously FOX?
ReplyDeleteIm happy because this show is really good but then again Im really surprised because RBS has low ratings
ReplyDeletePoor FOX...
ReplyDeleteJust put the kids out of their misery, it'll be better for everyone.
I'm guessing that FOX is going to try pairing it with Glee eventually. They're probably hoping that people will return for the final season and that they'll be into RBS. I doubt it'll actually work though.
I totally did not see this coming. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe show is ok...but given everything else they have on the go....I thought this was a goner for sure.
FOX is a sad place now.
