Ratings Breakdown:
The San Francisco 49ers at the Denver Broncos on “Sunday Night Football” led NBC to another overnight Sunday victory, with an estimated 14.9 rating/24 share in households from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET (peaking in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour at a 17.0/25). Last Sunday, an 11.3/18 in the overnights for the New York Giants at the Philadelphia Eagles translated into 18.09 million viewers and a 6.6 rating/18 share among adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data). So, you can expect in the vicinity of about 24 million viewers for this match-up.
Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game “Football Night in America” at a 1.6/ 3 at 7 p.m. (#4), a 4.4/ 7 at 7:30 p.m. (#3) and a 9.6/16 at 8 p.m. (#1). As a reminder, results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
Fox also received a boost care of football with a primetime overrun at an estimated 16.6/28 in the overnights in the 7 p.m. half-hour, followed by post-game “The OT” at a dominant 9.1/15 at 7:30 p.m. Next was the annual “Treehouse of Horror” edition of granddaddy “The Simpsons”at a 5.2/ 8 at 8 p.m. (#3), which was 11 percent above the 4.7/ 7 one week earlier (and that translated into a 3.3/ 9 among adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data).
At 8:30 p.m., Fox’s relocated “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” slipped to a fourth-place 3.3/ 5, which was 36 percent below “The Simpsons,” followed by young adult-magnet “Family Guy” at a 3.1/ 5 (#4) at 9 p.m. Regardless of the considerable slippage, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” was still 22 percent above the 2.7/ 4 it scored in the overnights one year earlier in the Tuesday 8:30 p.m. half-hour (on 10/22/13).
Recently introduced “Mulaney,” which just had its episode order slashed from 16 to 13 half-hours, closed the night for Fox with a subpar 1.6/ 2 (#4), which was 48 percent below lead-in “Family Guy.”
Over at CBS, the network was flat from one week earlier with its older-skewing line-up of “60 Minutes” (#2: 8.3/13), episode five of politically-themed drama “Madam Secretary” (#2: 8.3/12), critically acclaimed “The Good Wife” (#2: 7.6/11) and veteran “CSI” (#2: 5.6/ 9), which will be taking a break in midseason for upcoming spin-off “CSI: Cyber.” Although this overnight average only translated into a 1.3/ 4 for the night last week among adults 18-49, the average total viewer base should be in the vicinity of a very respectable 10-million. And opposite “Sunday Night Football” on NBC consider this a definite positive.
Last, and very least, was ABC’s line-up of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 3.1/ 5), “Once Upon a Time” (#4: 4.7/ 7), sophomore “Resurrection” #3: 3.4/ 5), which dipped to a series-low, and tired “Revenge” (#3: 3.8/ 6). Given the recent track record for “Once Upon a Time,” expect in the vicinity of a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49. But the 9-11 p.m. block on ABC will lose considerable steam.

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

ReplyDeleteOUAT still doing good. Every episode this season has been above its season high last year so that's good. Resurrection is not out just yet but it has a lot of bad things going for it. The show is going really slow story wise, the competition is hurting it especially Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire and I don't think anybody that watches OUAT watches Red anymore. As long as it can stay above a 1.3 it should be fine I hope. I really hope Revenge beats Red though that would be funny.

ReplyDeleteThe week before that it got a 3.4 but and ended up getting a 1.3 and last week just as we thought it rose with 3.7 it ended up getting a 1.2 and not to mention a series's low in viewers. I don't know it might've dropped again

When I saw OUAT in honourable mentions I thought it had dropped again, steady and well above cancellation level is a win in my book :)
ReplyDeleteHook being a tool was a major downer in the episode though, but everything else was amazing so it made up for it!
Considering it has only 24 episodes at the end of this season the show is essentially a freshman show, so I don't think ABC will cut it some slack if it underperforms

ReplyDeleteits a pity cause it's premise seemed so interesting, but what ticked viewers of is how slow paced it is. Nowadays people are just so impatient and prefer fast paced shows. If this was the 80s then it probably wouldn't drop as much. Because around that time most shows were slow paced

ReplyDeleteOUAT was excrushingtly boring IMO, so maybe I'd start with it to get it out of the way. Revenge was pretty good though. I haven't watched Resurrection yet and I dropped TWD on season 2, so can't help you there
