Happy Damon is back and scene with his brother was sweet but I'm kind of tired of Bonnie always putting everyone first instead of her own happiness she like Elijah on The Originals always putting everyone needs before their own
I don't think we are done with her.. She didn't die right away, maybe Kai comes up with another plan.. we still kinda lack the big bad for the season because I simply hope it's not Tripp Fell.. Maybe they'll find another way and Bonnie needs Kai's help and he will come back too..
they had all the cryptic crap from Bonnie's Grams... saying she made she Bonnie would be ok.. and all that crap... so is she dead or will Damon find away to save her...
What have they done with Bonnie? Why do they do her? Damon and Stefan ♥♥♥ I love the scene. Liv Tyler and quite charming scene, I did not expect. WANTS THE NEXT STAGE
I am in total agreement with you. More importantly, how could they yet again sacrifice Bonnie....I am in complete disbelief that the writing team could be this dumb.
I prefer to think of it as inexcusably lazy. They've done this way too many times and they have to know that. I think I have an idea of the long game TVD is playing here but they could have easily found a way to accomplish it without Bonnie choosing to fall on her sword yet again. Lazy bullsh*t.
OMG, Bonnie is this person! It would be SO STUPID if she was the one who left Damon in there, come on, she is the hero, it would be ridiculous to change!
And once again Bonnie Sacrificed her self. come on writers, let her freaking be happy for once. You could see how much she cares for Damon tho. Also that hug at the end!!!! i cried. best moment of tvd since forever. Stefan got his Bro back. *tears* Glad Damon's back but bummed that Bonnie is still stuck with Kai.
I loved the Damon and Stephan reunion scene, it was really touching and heart warming.
Holy leaping lizards (**Annie Musical Devotee here**), I can't believe that Bonnie was left behind. I can't believe that Julie and gang thought that it was alright to sacrifice her, yet again for the friendship cause. Note though, Kai is one seriously derranged kid! He needs to get a hobby. Like seriously.
Bonnie and Damon were really the light of the show, and Julie and gang busted them up, all for the sake of saving the gang back in Mystic Falls. This is getting to be like an Archie comic book, where Bonnie has become the Betty of the gang.
On another note, James P. below referred to the sacrificial mammy (**which I love**), Bonnie sacrifices herself for all of her friends on the show, and yet no one deems themselves worthy enough to do it for her. I hope that this is addressed in the upcoming episodes, given how much this character has done to ensure the happiness of those around her. I am hoping that Damon is the one to try to get her out of the alternate realm, so that we the viewers get some really good scenes.
This show if it continues down this route of constantly sacrificing the Afro-American person (one of the only people of overt colour on the show) for the sake of all the other characters. potentially runs the risk of becoming problematic. The race based politics should definitely be looked at on the show, given that one of the most powerful characters on the show, regardless of how much power they wield, is in constant jeopardy due to the friendships they hold. It saddens me that the show does not try to elevate itself, given the diversity of viewers they have.
I just love the writing this season. In the past TVD went wrong when they introduced too many storylines plot twists ect. It detracted from character development and got over complicated. It feels like this season they're getting back to their roots and not trying to out-do themselves with the next 'big bad' or pulling heaps of stunts for shock value.
So favourite parts of this episode would have to be the Stefan/Damon moment at the end and the Damon/Bonnie/Kai stuff. I knew she was going to sacrifice herself! Love her but damn... she's a martyr :( Damon will bring her back though...
Also really liked the fact that Tyler remained human. Would have been a pretty repetitive story otherwise. The Stefan/Caroline bantering was good but Stefan just pissed me off tonight and I was glad Alaric put him in his place. You could relate to him at the end of the episode when he was grieving but man he's being an asshole to Caroline. Now that Damon's back hopefully he'll try to fix things
bonnie, bonnie, bonnie wow i guess you don't hate damon anymore cool don't worry damon will bring you back no matter what and reunion rocked but i'm still pissed at stefan about his situation with caroline what a douche, alaric's new girl is definitely kai's sister: bad past, can't be compelled she's definitely a witch they can't be compelled so that would make sense
WTH cant freaking witches do spells to cure people? That was so idiotic Liv. So predictable DAMED I knew that Bonnie was going to stay, can they really dont do the anything else that the sacrifice card with her?. This is BS. - I need Damon to go to the freaking Gimini coven and make them turn off that prison and bring Bonnie back!. Of course that will bring Kai too but hey he is looking like the bad guy this season tho who knows they said it they were building the story slowly.
A near "Awesome" episode! 1) Bonnie and Damon - outstanding as always. 2) Alaric telling Stefan off about Damon - if "Ric" can hold on to Damon so should Stefan. 3) Bonnie killing Mala(Kai) - "Dark Killer Bonnie"..........YES! Sometimes "Jules" gets it right. "MODUS!" 4) Damon/Stefan "brotherly reunion" - Nice! 5) Bonnie being shot with a crossbow - DAMMIT, no fair.........Bonnie didn't see it coming! 6) Bonnie sacrificing herself, AGAIN............NOOOOOOO - and then "Jules" goes and get's it wrong! BECAUSE DIARIES ARE 4 READING...................MOST DAYS, I will remain Nobody!!!
I kept hoping that they wouldn't have Bonnie making YET another sacrifice for someone (especially Damon). It's so redundant. For once, I'd like to see someone (other than grams) value Bonnie enough to make a sacrifice for her. Let's hope we're not seeing the last of Kat,
Agree 100%. I don't remember this being an issue in the first 2 seasons, but it's definitely a glaring problem now (that isn't just limited to Bonnie). I know that people have written Plec about this, but generally she hasn't been very receptive.
Tyler is another character who tends to get the short end of the stick, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that he didn't turn into a werewolf. The sacrifice that Liv made for him was particularly touching. I really like those two together.
Agreed, what a great episode though! the emotions!
I'm really liking tyler and liv now; Liv is an excellent addition to the group; and I know this probably isn't a popular opinion, but I really like Ivy. The actress is great, and I feel bad for Ivy! She was just a nice girl with a normal future, and shit just happened to her, and no one cares about what she's going through; poor girl.
I have never seen any sexual tension between Caroline & Stefan. I don't think Paul & Candice have any romantic chemistry at all - which really hinders the ship because it's just not there and Stefan has never been interested in Caroline romantically anyway.
Had Caroline/Enzo left Stefan alone, Ivy wouldn't have become a vampire or died at Enzo's hand so Stefan was right about that.
You're an anti Steroline shipper, we've been through this. You don't have to say it all the time. You clearly don't like it. I do, as do others. So how about we leave it at that.
And no he wasn't "rightat about that" If Stefan didn't ignore her calls or sent false information to Alaric in the first place, Enzo wouldn't have tracked Stefan down to get answers. AND Caroline had no clue where the hell Stefan was, Enzo dragged her along in HOPES that Stefan would "change his mind" or w/e in continuing the search for Damon. That's Stefan IN THE WRONG. Nothing to do with Caroline. She got caught in the middle and Ivy most definitely is NOT her fault.
Anyone else cry like a child when Stefan/Damon huggued...ugh...calling all you Winchesters. It was S4 hug all over. If you didn't tear up over brother love ( assuming you watch spn as well) well you my friend are w/o a soul.
As far as getting someone with fatal injuries are concerned, Liv can only do so much. I seem to recall witches need certain herbs to perform any sort of healing spells. There's not even enough time to find ingredients so it's rather unfortunate that the poor dude died trying to cling to life in the hands of two supernaturals.
I actually kinda like the "domino effect" that these three characters caused that led to the events of this episode.
I mean, it's really seems like one whole pattern of dominoes just waiting to collapse: 1. Enzo/Caroline visit Stefan, Ivy tagged along. 2. Stefan made Caroline cry. 3. Enzo saw Caroline cry. 4. Enzo had Ivy drink his blood and snapped her neck. 5. Stefan compelled boss to bury her. 6. Ivy wakes up, killed boss. 7. Ivy gets angry at Stefan, he snaps her neck. 8. Stefan brings Ivy to Caroline to mentor her. 9. Ivy ditched Caroline, goes on to kill poor bystander. 10. Bystander frantically stops Tyler's car, Tyler hits him with his car. 11. Tyler's car rammed through the corn maze, hitting everyone in sight like bowling pins. 12. Bystander dies, Ivy gets caught by Tripp.

Because its true. Bonnie (the onky black character in the main cast) is only a plot device that exists to serve every other characters while also playing the magical negro and black best friend tropes
I rarely cry in movies or TV shows, but I have to admit that I almost got a little teary eyed over their reunion! it made me briefly forget about my annoyance with the writers for having Bonnie make yet another sacrifice. Anyway, in that one scene, you could really feel the depth of sadness that Stefan had been experiencing for the past months (great acting on Weasley's part), and how much he had been keeping it to himself. I don't think that Caroline, Enzo or Alaric really understood what Stefan had been going through...and in a way, they were thinking more their own feelings than Stefan's. After his encounter with Alaric, I think it finally dawned on Stefan that he was truly alone without Damon. Anyway, I'm just glad he got his brother back! ,
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVED IT. By the way, I don´t think Bonnie is dead, I think that that place is protected or something because Kai said he had tried to kill himself but he couldn´t, so it must be protected, therefor, Bonnie is not dead, she can´t be.
I saw this coming. Writers want to turn Bonnie in the martir of tvd. She's always sacrificing for the others!I'm sure she's not dead because Kai resurrected when Bonnie killed him so I guess that's a rule of that purgatory:no one can die.I hope Damon will rescue her. I don't like Ivy. She's very annoying. Now that Tripp has caught her,Stefan will have to tell Caroline the truth about what he did to Enzo. She's going to get angry... I loved Stefan and Damon reunion! It was so emotive. I almost cried!
Sorry it's just that i'm tired of the show and i don't understand what people like about it anymore.... Beside maybe Defan and Bamon , everything suck....
I really doubt it's because Kat Graham is black. Bonnie's a;lways been a major player in the sense of her power has always been important, but yeah she has always been shafted plot-wise. But again you have no evidence that it's because she's black.
That's not my problem. Is just feels unnecessary in this case. If it does feel necessary to her, okay, but back these accusations up with evidence of some racist undertones. When did I ever name call?
@Ore @wanderer13 Bonnie didn't sacrifice herself bc she wanted to, She did it bc she was injured and wouldn't be able to escape with Damon in time bc the Eclipse was upon them already.
That damon and stefan scene was easily the most touching and emotional moment between those brothers through all the seasons. But I think we will have the usual disagreements between the brothers about how to handle situations. Stefan is diplomatic and Damon is radical. I just hope it doesn't ruin their dynamic and relationship.
Completely off topic. I want to see damon and alaric crossing over to the big easy to help Klaus with his mikael situation. Klaus/Alaric/Damon would be a awesome team. I still don't get why nobody seems to acknowledge that Mikael is alive. If klaus dies so does damon, stefan and everybody else. Doesn't klaus keep them in the loop?
I'm so proud of tvd for pulling this season together. What a fantastic episode with a lot of powerful scenes. -damon and Bonnie - the "not exactly" was a perfect scene to show how far they have come. Damons need to fight for bonnie and protect her was so obvious in the last couple of episodes, that there bickering masked how much they do care about eachother. It made it all the more sad when damon couldn't save bonnie and bring her with him (I watched several times, I don't see any way damon could have done more, he was swept away too fast), and sad for damon that he thought he left her dead. When the time is right, I know he will move heavan and earth to bring her back. Amazing what Bonnie did-I too am sick of Bonnie sacrificing herself, but in this case didn't bother me as much, she made an impulsive decision to save her friend (she can't be saved so at least save him) it wasn't a planned marter move, good for her and I hope she's ok.
That last scene - wow. One of the best in the series for so many reasons, mostly because it was a long time coming. Timing was perfect - Stefan reached his all time low. 2 friends told him to walk away and never look back, the fear in his eyes showed me so clearly he finally feared being alone. Standing in his families crypt, surrounded by family members all dead, showed such an all time mixed up low - perfect time for Damon to return. Stefan's tears, shock and huge emotional hug represented Stefans happiness that he was no longer alone, and hasn't lost Damon. With time apart, along with many years of good progression in their relationship, Stefan finally appreciates Damon for all he is, and realizes he needs him in his life like Damon needs him. It's time they reached their peak, now going forward I hope Stefan's resentment of Damon is in the past. Damon in turn will feel love and acceptance like he never has before from the one person he needs it from the most - I expect their will be some Defan bumps along the way, but that bond will never go away. Way to go TVD, what a good way to begin!
I have a question. Nina Dobrev's attack on her character -- this seemingly 'new' post-Damon Elena -- is bordering on Katherine. In terms of the way her head tilts, and even how she speaks, how she enunciates certain words or how her voice sometimes is a bit on the low register. Did something happen on the show, is Katarina's spirit somehow back?
I haven't been watching for quite a while now. And this is just an observation based on this episode.
No, she's the new happy Elena, she wants to live more fulfilling life without previous romance baggage, but I too noticed the Katherine body language, but I don't think Nina paid attention that she's channeling another character lol.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
what the hell
ReplyDeleteThe Stefan/Damon reunion was sweet
ReplyDeleteWhy does bonnie have to keep sacrificing herself for these white people. Now bamon is split up :(
ReplyDeleteSO MANY FEELS! My emotions are all over the place!! I don't even know where to start...but iI'll figure it out...Be back soon with my comment.
ReplyDeleteTHIS WAS GREAT! LAST SCENE WAS SO EMOTIONAL! LOVED IT
ReplyDeleteThe only good part of the ep was Stefan and Damon, and Damon with Bonnie. I hope that's not the end of Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteHappy Damon is back and scene with his brother was sweet but I'm kind of tired of Bonnie always putting everyone first instead of her own happiness she like Elijah on The Originals always putting everyone needs before their own
ReplyDeleteif it is..... then I'm freaking done with this show
ReplyDeleteShe's in the friggin' promotional photos for 8. Relax. Damon's gonna wanna get her out.
ReplyDeleteOk given that bonnie is still alive given the 6x07 promo pics, why do the writers always feel the need write bonnie as the sacrificial mammy.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we are done with her.. She didn't die right away, maybe Kai comes up with another plan.. we still kinda lack the big bad for the season because I simply hope it's not Tripp Fell.. Maybe they'll find another way and Bonnie needs Kai's help and he will come back too..

ReplyDeleteRemember that Damon knows who created that "hell" and can easily go to the Gemini Coven to get Bonnie out.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to TVD to ruin a good thing. They shouldn't have split Bonnie and Damon up.
ReplyDeleteI am in total agreement with you. More importantly, how could they yet again sacrifice Bonnie....I am in complete disbelief that the writing team could be this dumb.
ReplyDeleteI love your line "sacrificial mammy" very Stuart Hall!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to think of it as inexcusably lazy. They've done this way too many times and they have to know that. I think I have an idea of the long game TVD is playing here but they could have easily found a way to accomplish it without Bonnie choosing to fall on her sword yet again. Lazy bullsh*t.
ReplyDeleteWhile I loved the Stefan/Damon hug, I'm really annoyed that Bonnie sacrificed herself (again).
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I'm all for character consistency but this is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Bonnie is this person! It would be SO STUPID if she was the one who left Damon in there, come on, she is the hero, it would be ridiculous to change!
ReplyDeleteAnd once again Bonnie Sacrificed her self. come on writers, let her freaking be happy for once. You could see how much she cares for Damon tho. ReplyDeleteThis episode suck ! I had the impression of watching " Urgences " sometimes LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd i 'm really tired of Bonnie who play the hero !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kai is the Big Bad of the season not Fell
ReplyDeleteI'm upset that Tyler didn't turn back into a werewolf.
ReplyDeleteI knew Bonnie would sacrifice herself, but I really wanted the Bonnie/Damon subplot to last a bit longer before Damon went back.
I don't care about Jo. I wish we had seen Luke instead of him and Stefan meeting off-screen.
I loved the Damon and Stephan reunion scene, it was really touching and heart warming.
ReplyDeleteHoly leaping lizards (**Annie Musical Devotee here**), I can't believe that Bonnie was left behind.

I am with you on wanting the Bonnie and Damon togetherness to continue.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I will have to disagree on Tyler. I am happy that Tyler is not a werewolf again, as he was seriously boring as one in the past.
i hope we are a few episodes free of bonnie before the producers foolishly bring her back. she was annoying.
ReplyDeleteI just love the writing this season. In the past TVD went wrong when they introduced too many storylines plot twists ect. It detracted from character development and got over complicated. #3LL YEAH.........................maybe! Nobody 4 NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why "Elinie" would be and unstoppable team. "Big Easy" road trip for Bonnie now...............make it happen, Jules! Nobody 4 LATER!!!

I kept hoping that they wouldn't have Bonnie making YET another sacrifice for someone (especially Damon). It's so redundant. For once, I'd like to see someone (other than grams) value Bonnie enough to make a sacrifice for her. Let's hope we're not seeing the last of Kat,

ReplyDeleteI have a question.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been watching for quite a while now. And this is just an observation based on this episode.
No, she's the new happy Elena, she wants to live more fulfilling life without previous romance baggage, but I too noticed the Katherine body language, but I don't think Nina paid attention that she's channeling another character lol.
