One thing you got right, Liv does not Love Jake. All in Jake's mind to mess with Fitz...Mellie get help? For what? This is the real Mellie I've watched for 3 seasons. She's cold, mean, selfish, and always protects her position as First Lady. Mellie crazy, but Fitz is the bad guy, right? Her son was a soldier. Put down the crack pipe Mellie.
Mellie is clearly mentally ill and grieving the loss of her son. That's why she needs help. It's clear that she's not handling this well and I'm worried.
Frustrating episode. Fitz was a complete jerk and the fact that he disregarded Jake's evidence was ridiculous and unrealistic. Also, I'm surprised that Rowan was so easily able to convince Olivia that it was Jake. I wouldn't be surprised if Fitz tries to use Olivia to get a confession out of Jake.
Leave it to Mellie to twist the death of her son into a political agenda as if his death makes him a martyr she must be back to being the media hoe, she always was, I'm so proud of Quinn she is wearing her white hat I'm loving her, and I believe Abby is sick of playing in the White Housr I'm glad to see she and Olivia reconnecting, she'll be back where she belongs at OPA, Huck has his own troubles I hope it works out, and he gets to see his son, I'm glad Quinn was there for him, Jake kept twisting the knife in Fitz, he knows Jake didn't kill his son that was all about Liv!!!
I think we hit the unrealistic road bump about a season ago.
That said, the idea of Rowan's character is he's a master manipulator because he knows everyone's weakness. Fitz is desperately in love with Olivia and not the brightest bulb in the box so Rowan could easily convince him Jake is the cause of all his woes. Olivia has always been unable to resist her father and he also hit her at her weak point. I'd say the story is consistent with everyone falling in line with Rowan's manipulations.
Rowan is just a more extreme version of Olivia. Both ultimately believe in the ends justifying the means however Rowan takes that pragmatic belief to a different level. In my opinion he's the character who's most honest with himself about what he is,
Spare me. Mellie has always been evil and cold. "Jerry's death gave us four more years in the WHite house" WHOOPEE! Some freaking Mother. Fitz is an Angel from God compared to that cold Fish Mellie! lol.
What is Jake's evidence that he has against Rowan. Did we see that evidence and I forgot. As far as I know Jake's evidence is his word against Rowan and at the time Jake was still Command so that is also going against him.
Fitz actually believes Jake did it because of Tom's confession. Jake is all about Liv, Fitz was all about his son. Loved Fitz this episode and Mellie, there are no words for this heifer. She is one terrible mother, terrible wife, and crazy FLOTUS.
I do agree with your point he is seriously a masterful manipulator, who doesn't hide who he is, and his daughter is I'm afraid somewhat a chip off the old block, but she does try to a certain degree try's for the greater good, you certainly nailed Rowan's psyche:)
I actually don't believe that Fitz believes Jake yet. I think he really does believe Jake ordered the hit on his son. His aggression probably has something to do with Olivia, but I think most of it comes from the love of his son.
AWESOME episode. I sorta liked the cray mellie that was until she turned something other than cray when she called their son a matyr. I get it thou. Trying to make sense of it all. LOVED the Fitz/Liv scenes. They never fail, let's be honest SCANDAL never fails!! Fitz beating the crap out of Jake was awesome! Surprised thou Fitz didn't take into consideration Jakes evidence and that Olivia so easily believed Rowan. CANT WAIT TILL NEXT EPISODE.
He had files, he was holding when he was waiting at the White House, I don't think Fitz bothered to look at them, I don't know what happened to the evidence Rowan probably took it, but he did have something!
This is not going to be a popular opinion here, but am I the only one that thinks the writing for this show is getting worse?
The writing for Mellie and Abby so far ghis season has been pretty bad, and the plot points lack the urgency of last season.
By the end of the episode I didn't care whether Jake died or not or if he was really guilty. The entire "twist" seemed to abrupt and artificial just for the sake of shock factor, which in all honesty was lacking.
I'm hoping the writers clean it up going forward though now that this arc is almost over.
What? The writing has been awful for a long time. Most of us ignore it and just try to muddle through an episode. You won't get any argument from most people. Scandal writing doesn't make sense at all. How is Rowan allowed to get away with everything every week...As long as the ratings are good...the writing won't change. They write to shock fans, not for good story telling.
I still can't believe the cold bloodied way he killed James and the reporter, Jake is no angel that's for sure, I agree Fitz probably doesn't really believe him at this point, Toms confession was rather believe able!! I can't wait for the next episode!!!
Mellie showed her true colors again. She is all about staying in the White House as First Lady. Who really thought she was mourning the child she ignored all his short life? It was only guilt and now she feels better and can go back to be herself. Notice how quickly she forgot about Karen again (as long as Karen does nothing to embarrass the White House) and Baby Teddy does not even exist for her. I loved the look of horror on Fitz's face as Mellie was talking.
I don't want to hear anyone ever say that Mellie truly loves Fitz. It has always been about him being President and her dream of being the power behind the throne as First Lady which Olivia ruined by becoming Fitz's lover and confidante.
Why is Jake taunting Fitz's about Olivia if he really wants to take down Rowan? Jake has some serious mental issues like Huck. There is some deep seated hatred and jealously of Fitz that we still don't know the full picture. He should be focusing on the issue of getting rid of Rowan by telling Fitz about the evidence instead he is making it about Olivia. Hmm
Rowan is just pure evil. He has poor Olivia so screwed up. The worst father ever.
I think Abby and Olivia will be closer friends now especially once Abby's abusive husband shows up.
yeah Fitz the angel that occasional murders old ladies, slut shames his daughter, and is verbally abusive to his wife whenever he isn't being emotionally distant or cheating on her. have never understood people's blind devotion to that character.
This was a great episode. The Key was both an object and a metaphor for Jake, the key to taking down Rowan. Mellie's monologue was fascinating absolutely fascinating which enraged Fitz. Abby and Liv are hopefully on the path to healing their relationship.
That's not right, at all. Mellie's justification of the death of her son as being for "the greater good" (perceived as to remain in the White House) was her way of ultimately copping out. Because what was eating the most at her, was how sudden and random her son's death had been. So, when she learned that he was murdered, she directed her grief into
The writers consistently try to make her unlikeable so that they can keep getting Fitz and Olivia together but a lot of time they go overboard to the point where it doesn't make sense.
Last season when Olivia broke up Mellie and the BP and then turned around and slept with the POTUS was the most confusing bit in the show. In the scheme to make Mellie look like a whore it makes Olivia look like a hypocrite.
This season the "smelly Mellie" theme is again used to make Mellie look bad, when it is completely out of character for her to sulk for months. They just want her to look less attractive to give the POTUS another excuse to sleep with Olivia.
Also killing Jake off helps bring us to that point.
Throughout the series I've always felt bad for Mellie and the writers do her character a disservice season after season.
I agree. I loved that Abby and Liv are finally getting back to being friends but the best part of the episode was once again, Mellie! Next week's episode should be interesting and I have high expectations as Abby confronts Fitz.
Yes. Tom is a trusted Agent of Fitz, so I do believe his word holds more weight than Jake. So Fitz does believe Jake killed Jerry and since Jake is a cold blooded killer, who wouldn't believe it. Rowan set it up pretty.
Fitz has bigger than Mellie. Mellie only loves herself. Her kids are political tools and baby Teddy might not know his mama name, he does know his daddy name because Fitz plays with him and feeds him. Mellie is annoyed by her own children.
I disagree about the writers trying to make her unlikeable. If they wanted her to be unlikable, they would have made her a lot more one-dimensional. Instead, the complexity of her character has made her one of the best-written characters on the show. Despite everything she's done, they've written her in a way that makes viewers empathise with her. I'm pretty sure this is deliberate. She didn't start out as a regular on the show, but I think they liked her character so much that they made her a regular.
I agree the writing for Mellie has been exceptional and Bellamy Young delivers week after week, it's going to be a hard choice in trying to decide if she or Viola Davis should get that Emmy!!!!
It is a sad day on Scandal when Quinn is looking like the smartest person on the show. She'll probably be the one to figure out Rowan is the guilty one like Harrison did. But, Quinn won't go down like Harrison....she's a killer also.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Someone needs to get Mellie some help and Fitz continues to be the worst in many ways because he doesn't see it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Jake and ship him with Liv but I don't think she loves him although he might have been telling Fitz that to piss him off.
And Huck needs to stop.
Love fitz punching jake finally
ReplyDeleteLoved Fitz beating the crap out of Jake! LOL! Fun times! Okay, episode. Last week was a lot better. Jake is such a POS. Rowan is a mastermind.
ReplyDeleteOne thing you got right, Liv does not Love Jake. All in Jake's mind to mess with Fitz...Mellie get help? For what? This is the real Mellie I've watched for 3 seasons. ReplyDeleteMellie is one cold heifer!
ReplyDeleteFitz beat down of Jake was lovely! Jake is not innocent. He didn't kill Fitz son, but he killed others. So screw him.
AWESOME episode. I sorta liked the cray mellie that was until she turned something other than cray when she called their son a matyr. I get it thou. Trying to make sense of it all. Fitz is the worst character on Scandal. And that's saying something.
ReplyDeleteI think the writing for Mellie has been excellent and that Bellamy Young delivers it as it counts.

ReplyDeleteThe episode was okay. I was just glad to finally see Mellie take a shower.

ReplyDeleteHe always wants what Fitz have
ReplyDeleteTeam Quinn
ReplyDeleteme too. And if you can betray a buddy , what can't you kill his son?
ReplyDeleteSo true. And Fitz have to get divorce and find another love interest. But can he go away from Olivia?
ReplyDeleteBlind devotion?
ReplyDeleteTeam Fitz forever. An emmy to Tony Golwyn
ReplyDeleteAlright,Alright!!!!!! I'm so team Quinn!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree the writing for Mellie has been exceptional and Bellamy Young delivers week after week, it's going to be a hard choice in trying to decide if she or Viola Davis should get that Emmy!!!!
ReplyDeleteYES, Thank You...so many comments and NOBODY had mentioned her taking a Shower, LOL...and hopefully shaving her bush off, lol...☺...
ReplyDeleteCyrus found that about Rowan and Olivia offscreen?
ReplyDeleteIt is a sad day on Scandal when Quinn is looking like the smartest person on the show. She'll probably be the one to figure out Rowan is the guilty one like Harrison did. But, Quinn won't go down like Harrison....she's a killer also.
ReplyDeleteMellie is crazy.
ReplyDeleteFitz is dumb.
Olivia need to make plans, before confront people like her dad.
Jake is a sociopath, but is the only one that knows the truth now.
Hawk needs therapy.
The case of the week was lost in the middle of the crazy plot, what about that key? Quinn find, but no one pays attention.
