there so much going on. I like that Fitz address how he felt bout Simmons leaving. Love everything Mockingbird. Ward's big brother might be as crazy as Ward... Best parts of the night seeing the teaser to Agent Carter and of course i had a nerdgasm when i saw the executive scene from The Avengers Age of Ultron. the scene was too funny.
Ward's storyline is really distracting. Either get it on its path or kill off the character. Their anger and hatred had a place and it's been done well in a few places but tonight's episode not so much. It made the other characters appear ugly.
No, Ward didn't lie. We saw flashbacks in "The Well" and pretty sure he couldn't fake those. His abusive fuckhead of a brother lied and they just tried to hand Grant over to one of his abusers, no big deal. I don't approve of his methods but I'm glad he broke out.
I sure don't at this point. He was my favorite character. Even with all they did with that character I held out hope that they were going to pursue redemption but now I find myself not liking any of them. Ward is acting like a pyschotic love sick puppy while the heroes seem to be enjoying poking the caged dog with sticks and playing with it. Quickly getting fed up with all of it.
i want to have hope and son of a bitch i want to sooo BADLY but those flashbacks were from his perspective we may never get and actual answer unless we travel back in time
Coulson is probably out of fucks to give. Ward has murdered, maimed, threatened and betrayed innocent people, people who trusted him to be on their side. The abuser became the abused and he's shown no realistic remorse or compassion for his crimes. Coulson isn't about coddling a nazi wannabe like some of the people watching the show are demanding, and frankly I can't blame him.
Awesome only in that one single episode could be /that/ awful. Really disappointed with this show, have been for a while, but this? This was 20 levels of fucked up.
But how can you expect Coulson to know what's the truth? He can't b/c Ward has lied so often and has betrayed them at every turn. I think Coulson's reaction makes sense given what he knows.
"Abusive Behaviour: A general term for various behaviours which may be aggressive, coercive or controlling, destructive, harassing, intimidating, isolating, or threatening, that a batterer or abuser may use to control a domestic partner, child or other victim."
So coercive..... lied to the entire team, had sex with one of them under false pretenses, threatened rape on another. And in what mental health textbook does it say that mentally ill individuals are exempt from abusive behaviour? If Ward is mentall ill, he's still failing to take responsibility for his behaviour. He doesn't deserve a damn cookie.
I voted 'Good' because this wasn't my favorite episode.
What I liked about the episode: 1. Fitz and Mack - I was unsure at first about the new characters but Mack is a character I'm really starting to like, especially how he works with Fitz and helps him out. Fitz needs someone like that right now and I don't think Simmons is going to be that person for a while. 2. Fitz and Simmons - these two have a LONG way to go before they have the same relationship that they had in Season One but I'm going to enjoy it every second because these two have some amazing chemistry! 3. Hunter and Morse - Hunter is another character I was unsure of at first but as the episodes have aired, I've gotten to really like his character. I especially like his character now that Bobbie Morse is in the mix; LOVE these two! Did Adrienne Palicki have to audition for the role with Nick Blood because their chemistry is off the charts! 4. Skye and Ward - I can't help myself. I've been a Skyeward fan since the first season and, while I'm unsure if a romantic relationship will ever pan out between the two of them, I still believe that Ward and Skye have some of their best scenes together. 5. Ward - going all evil at the end was kind of hot. lol And FINALLY, hopefully his storyline becomes more prominent in the following episodes now that he's escaped. Wonder where he's going to go. A part of me hopes that Coulson was a facilitator of his escape and that he didn't just blindly trust Christian with everything he told him about Ward. Even if I was betrayed by someone like Ward, I would still be cautious of what someone said about him and investigate further before trusting him. 6. It looks like S.H.I.E.L.D. finally has earned Talbot's trust. Hopefully it will become useful in the episodes to come.
What I didn't like: 1. Coulson - Coulson kind of pissed me off in this episode and it mostly has to do with him blindly trusting Christian, whom he's never met before this episode, over Ward. I mentioned it above but, even if I was betrayed by someone like Ward, I would still be cautious of what someone said about him and investigate further before trusting him. My hope is that Coulson realized his error and facilitated Ward's escape at the end so that he could do whatever he has to do. 2. Simmons' line at the end of the episode when Ward was being lead away seemed to come out of left field. I mean, I agree with her sentiment but it just felt like the wrong place and wrong time to say it.
I'm hoping in two weeks the show can get back on track. And who was the guy getting tattooed at the end? I wonder if he'll play into the next episode.
But he bought into Christian's lies b/c of Ward's actions. If Ward hadn't lied and betrayed them, then Coulson wouldn't have believed Christian.
Honestly, I'm not sure why Coulson is expected to know that Christian is the actual liar in this situation. Ward lied to Coulson for a long time so when Christian says he has been trying to counter Ward's lies all his life, of course Coulson believes him.
That's a little victim-blamey. Ward definitely lied and he deserves their distrust but accusing an abuse victim of lying? Handing the victim over to one of his abusers? Wrong in so many ways.
I liked Ward too and didn't want him to betray the team, but that is what he did last year. He betrayed them in the worst way and tried to kill several of them. I'm not sure why any of them should be feeling sorry for him right now. As far as they are concerned, he is a killer and a liar.
Oh god, yes. A lot of people watch TV to escape reality, and a good portion of the people I know who watch(ed) AOS did so to escape the reality of abuse. Kind of counterproductive, thanks to the writers.
I'm pretty sure he was thrown off by the fact that they were about to hand him off to one of his abusers and then Jemma threatened to kill him. And Fitz actually did try to kill him so I'm guessing he thinks apologies won't help.
I can understand, too, but what I don't understand is why they treat him like the worst kind of monster when he really, really isn't. At this point, they've proven themselves no better than Garrett; not worse, but definitely not better.
You are operating under the assumption that Coulson & Co. believe Ward was abused by his brother. They don't. I think it is clear (unless they switch it around on us next week) that Coulson believed Christian was being truthful, and that Ward was the liar.
In any event, I don't see myself as "victim blaming." What I am saying is this: if you lie to everyone and betray them, you should not be surprised if those same people don't believe you about something else. This is a "boy who cried wolf" situation. Ward's betrayal of them cast doubt on everything he's ever claimed or said. That is not victim blaming; that is the reality that springs from lying and betraying people, IMO. He lost their trust.
A lot of people feel betrayal is the worst thing you can do. Plus, he killed several people, incl. friends and allies. I liked Ward last year too, but I can't say I'm shocked that his team treats him like scum.
Pretty much sums up my feelings on the episode...and glad I'm not alone in being confused by the tattooed guy.
Christian oozes slime so I'm hoping Coulson expected Ward to escape and is playing an angle there... the way he always seems to be (kind of a Gary Stu that way, but whatevs)...
Re Simmons' line at the end...I actually thought it fit, maybe because I was wondering why she watched him daily and what she was feeling toward him. After all that watching from afar, he was going away and she wouldn't get another chance to make her feelings known.
In spite of the things that ticked me off (which primarily had to do with the Christian Ward plot), glad Ward's finally off the sidelines!
Woah, there were so many conflicts left and right in this episode.
Grant and Christian both seem to be insane and have different sides to what happened at the well. This Ward family is really something else.
Grant deluding himself into actually thinking he's still a part of the team made me want to vomit. ARE YOU SERIOUS, Grant?! And all the YES to Jemma getting in front of Skye as Grant passes by her and says "If I ever see you again, I'll kill you". There's the feisty Simmons I love!
Jemma basically agreeing that being with Fitz seems to make him worse was absolutely gut wrenching. FitzSimmons are so broken right now it's not even funny :( Really hope they can repair this in the future.
Grant going full on dark HYDRA mode at the end was scary as hell but I don't like that Coulson basically just tried to hand him over to his abusive brother. This is NOT what I wanted at all and the two brothers need to be as far away from each other as possible. All hell will break loose if they come face to face.
May being forced to work alongside a divorced couple was absolutely hilarious XD And May saying to Lance "You know I don't like you, right?" was gold. Woah at the reveal that she was MARRIED. I'm intrigued in learning more about May's past. It seems so interesting.
Mockingbird's first mission in her full on tactical suit was so badass, she looked beautiful. And that fight scene with her and Lance was out of this world. They still totally have chemistry going on between them and their bickering is awesome :)
What a AMAZING episode! Coulson said everything i wanted in Ward’s face. What a amazing moment! claps and claps! Simmons protecting Skye from Ward was the most epic moment on this season so far! and omg..i want more May, Bobbi and Hunter in missions together!! It was so badass!!
Ward is not a victim and it never was! The victims here are the team, Skye, Simmons, Fitz, Coulson and May. Ward is a traitor the did a lot of horribe things and almost killed Simmons and Fitz. I will never forget that!
Ward is out. YES! In the beginning when he was working out, first things he worked on was his Hands! lol, I knew then oh shit, its about to happen. And thank god it did. Can't have a tactical genius such as him in peak condition in lock up. Look forward to what he does out and about.
Lance Hunter hunter to me finally became a likeable character when Bobby around, for that I hope he doesn't just leave yet.
Mack gets it, what up Jemma why don't you yet, what do you really want.
Also that Hydra agent Marcus had a nice weapon, I liked that fight scene with the Rope Knife.
you know what screw it i saw the terror, the fear in ward's eyes when they mentioned him, ward's brother is definitely a bastard that needs to rot in hell and we all know that he's not going anywhere anytime soon he'll reveal himself
Yea what ever happened to using the Night Night Pistol. Am I too assume, they made them look like regular guns. I remember first few ep this season mainly first, where Sky was still using the a Night Night Pistol from the blue flash, however this episode it was all Orange aka regular.
What an amazing episode I totally understand why they placed the avengers clip after it people will surely tune in. Yes to no redemption ward I laugh at all the defending here lol! The guynis batshit crazy for thinking he is a part of the team he is absolutely crazy . Fitzmack!! I love these two fitz is at least happy and Simmons in awe as well as a little jealous I loved her warning to ward bet it will come in play later if ward dies it might be through Simmons. Fitzsimmons is way too awkward but they need time and fitz is worse when he's with Simmons but don't justify Simmons she should have at least told him why she left Overall awesome episode and Bobbi and lance were kickass and she mentioned barton!!
I posted elsewhere but I think Ward's escape was coordinated. Coulson was looking at his evaluation file and the cuffs were almost intentionally loose on his right hand.
I'm wondering if maybe Coulson has a secret plan/mission with Grant and that he wanted Grant to escape. But maybe I'm imagining things??
Really enjoyed the episode. Love May, Hunter and Bobbi on their mission together. Great chemistry between Hunter and Bobbi, it's so funny that they're fighting bad guys and at the same time they're bickering.
C'MON you cant say that. Coulson had every right to say what he did. and if any persom were in his position any would've told him the same thing. Yeah Ward was abused but that doesnt change the fact that he killed people that was trying to do something good, that he tried to killed his friends who trusted him. One good doesnt change 10 bads not, thats not how it works. Ward redemption is going to be an slow process and so far anything he gets it's because he deserves it. Next eposode we willl see if Ward has really changed.
I thought that file was significant. At first I wasn't sure if it was Grant's picture (cause I watch the show online). But it does make sense. And I'm also thinking that the agreement between Coulson and Christian was that Coulson is suppose to hand ver Grant to his brother, but now that he's escaped, the agreement Christian had at the UN won't be approved, giving Coulson's team more time to bring HYDRA down. This might be a plan, it's just a matter of is Coulson keeping it a secret about his plans with Grant, or does the rest of the team know?
Not sure if I'm making sense, or if I sound crazy...
Yes of course he should how dare Simmons be angry because he almost killed her and left her friend brain damaged and ruined their friendship forever how dare she!!
Let's be real; Jemma is angry and defensive not only because this man hurt her immensely, but also because he poses an ominous and foreboding threat to Skye's safety. She loves Skye and her shielding and threat was a sign of solidarity. Plus, do you really think Jemma is physically capable of being any kind of threat to Ward? And Fitz came close, but he, despite the pain and misery of the disability Ward inflicted on him, is too good a man to sink to Ward's depths. But it figures that Ward can't look beyond his own selfishness to extend a simple courtesy to a person he tried to murder.
Honestly...I am not sure if that's what happened. I don't think that Coulson trust the senator. I don't think that he trusts Ward either, but I have the feeling that there was more going on that what meets the eye. I really love how they keep the audience off-balance concerning Ward. It is simply hard to tell what he really is under all the training and conditioning. But I think his fear concerning his brother was genuine. I am not sure concerning his reason, though.
As a few others have said I wouldn't be surprised if Coulson and Ward have their own secret plan together and if that's the case then once again fandom overacted to plot points before seeing the full picture. It keeps happening and its getting ridiculous now.
But if its not a plan and Coulson did mean to hand Ward over, can you blame him really? Why would they trust Ward with anything after everything Ward has done to them? People don't believe abuse victims at the best of times (which is incredibly sad but true) let alone someone who has fucked them over again and again. It makes sense for the team to feel the way they do.
That final scene with Ward gave me chills. I am definetly enjoying the way they are handling his character. I for one think that both brothers are telling a bit of truth in their detailings of one another. I think Christian was right that Ward has something behind his eyes that makes him distant. However I think it might very well be the torture he suffered at the hands of his brother that caused it. I like that there is enough mystery around Ward to keep him interesting. Also loved Mockingbird and am curious to see how she develops througout. Who was that in the end getting the tats? I couldn't get a good enough look, but I'm thinking Skyes' father?
holy shit, this episode was good... i actually like that Coulson was a ruthless BAMF, it just shows us that he really changed (like Raina said it) also, i guess hard choices are coming for everyone
Yes, Ward was a victim - he was abused by his older brother and parents and then Garrett kidnapped him and proceeded to abuse him some more. But he was also a perpetrator. He's not one or the other.
I love Tim De Kay and it was great to see him as Christian Ward. I ended up confused by the end of the show as to which Ward brother is telling the truth. Both of them were convincing in their speech. Now considering our agent Ward was in jail before Garrett got him out, the senator maybe telling the truth. If that is the case Grant Ward is a whole lot of f**ked up character. If it's not our heroes just handed over a person to an abuser. Not that Grant Ward is any angel himself.
The lack of Skye's father after last episode was a bit disappointing. Fitzsimmons was heart breaking. Love mac and his relationship with Fitz. I like Bobbi Morse and I like HUnter but I am not much intersted in their history. It was fun last week but soon turned annoying this week.
One thing I loved this week was they made Hunter the distraction and two kick ass females came bursting through the window to defeat the villains. Usually it is the female characters who are used as distraction while male heroes get to fight. That was awesome.
Both Ward brothers were equally convincing in that scene. I was so confused after that. I get it why Coulson decided to hand Grant over to his brother. Shield does not owe Grant Ward anything. If giving him away saves lives of other Shield agents then so be it.
Listen, I hate Grant Ward as much as any other sane person would. BUT, in this instance, I'm more likely to believe him than Christian. Ward did say he'd never lie to Skye again, ever. ''But that could have been another lie'', you may say. True, but I have another argument. They mentionned ''The Well'' a few times. Well, how we know about the well is not because he told us, but because the Berserker Staff affected him, and we saw what he saw, right? That wasn't about lieing, that time. Then again, maybe he just believes that to be true, so that he can live with himself. So, yeah, both Wards MIGHT tell the truth, but somehow I have more reasons to believe Grant in that instance.
honestly its like Game of Thrones. you make moves to win the game, sometimes when you watch tv, you have to suspend all reality, the morals that may carry us in the real world only apply if they are purposefully established in the tv world
That's my theory too. Plus, he mentioned that Ward would likely be executed so I think that is why Simmons said what see did. She knew there was a chance they would cross paths again,
You, good sir/madame, win the internet for today. LOVE how Coulson laid it on the line for all SkyeWard shippers and self-righteous "Abuse victims are not responsible for any evil shit they proceed to do" people, who will no doubt carry on giving their bullshit excuses nonetheless.
Aw thanks friend :) Yeah, Coulson was delivering nothing but the truth, and if people are offended by that, that's fine; but it doesn't make it any less true.
I share your opinion. I hate all the Ward apologists bending over backwards to excuse his crimes because A, he's hot, B, they ship SkyeWard, or C, they're on a soapbox about how abuse victims should be absolved of any horrible thing they may proceed to do. That being said, the show *is* trying to set him up as a complex character whose actions are a result of his psyche being twisted by his horrible past. Soooo... I'm inclined to believe Grant's account of the events, not Christian's. If Christian is telling the truth, Grant is just your garden-variety psychopath which doesn't make for a very interesting character.
fun ep but i'm waiting on more pieces to come together. getting kind of numb to the heros on the run story. ready for them to start making up ground. like Bobbi on the team.
Well, maybe he truly believes that. Thus, maybe he also truly believe his brother forced him to hurt his other brother. Explaining the vision! Like I said, both versions are possibles!
I tend to believe Grant (for reasons I explained earlier, especcially the vision), but even if Christian's right, let's talk about that. So, yeah, that makes Grant a psychopath, like you said! Which is not an interesting character BUT, the way they made him up until now, he could make an interesting villain. Remember Angelus? He was an interesting villain, and that was in large part because of his relationship (as Angel) with the rest of the gang. Same thing with Ward, maybe? I mean, without the re-ensouling thing and the ''trying to destroy the world'' (althought, it is Marvel, so who knows? :p ).
(I compare both show because they are Whedon shows! You did watch Buffy, right? lol)
Anyway, even with Grant's version being the true one, he's still an a-hole. And I did like how the rest of the gang played him! Especcially Simmons ''Next time I see you I'm gonna kill you''. Even when she threatens she's kinda adorable, isn't she? :p lol But I am really interested to see where they go with Ward from now on, no matter if Grant or Christian (or, who knows, neither) told the truth.
Oh, and also, yeah, I don't like the Ward apologists either. They were there all summer, and I don't get it. I mean, even Fitz saw how much of a jerk he was at one point. Those people would have made poor S.H.I.E.L.D. agents; Ward would have shot them in the stomach and they'd still be like ''it's ok, I still believe you're a good guy deep down'' or something. It's ridiculous! ^_^
Yes, I loved Coulson calling Ward on his BS ("I'm still a part of this team", what the hell?!?!?!?! Someone needs a reality check) and Simmons threatening him. I especially loved how Ward tried to address Skye as he was being taken away, and Simmons stepped protectively in front of her and made her threat. Maybe it's my love for Skimmons but I thought that was such a great moment for these two, Simmons firmly shutting Ward down and not letting him get anywhere near Skye.
P.S. It's annoying to keep switching back and forth between "Ward" and "Grant", heh. But since we're talking about Christian Ward as well, it's just more comfortable to refer to both by their first names.
His reasoning seems to be "SHIELD screwed me over so I'm going to screw them over". We saw him kidnap a sixteen year old abuse victim and then physically and emotionally abuse him for over a decade. John There are no excuses for Garrett's behavior.
This show has really good fight scenes. They're so well coordinated. Props to the stunt doubles and the coordinator, because those fight scenes look cool.
May's mission with the divorced agents was funny. Those three probably are the best fighters on the team. I hope there's more missions like this in the future. Sad all those SHIELD agents died, esp. that brave female agent.
The Fitz-Simmons scenes are so sad. Fitz' storyline has so much emotion and soul-searching. The actor's doing a great job.
Both Ward brothers are psychos. Don't blame Coulson one bit for his angry interaction with Grant, or his deal with Christian.
Now that Ward's evilness isn't hidden anymore, and his creepiness is on the surface more, I don't see how anyone can still root for Ward and Skye as any kind of couple. Their scenes don't make me think they have any future together. I definitely get the sense is totally over him, but is just still drawn in because of his ever persistent manipulations (i.e., info. about her father, HYDRA intel, etc.).
Yeah and I don't care because we've seen Grant being abused all his life. Please don't make up stuff about Garrett - who we've seen is a psychopathic, kidnapping abuser, just to try to prove your point because it's not going to work.
I know it won't work, because it's BS. Listen, I understand everything you're saying, and I agree, except for when you act angry that Coulson's team doesn't believe Ward. There's a reason that they don't believe him, and it isn't their fault. Being angry that they don't believe him is wrong, they don't have the knowledge of Ward that we do. What we should do is hope that they somehow get the knowledge and make things right.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I am so pissed at Coulson right now you have no idea. And Grant, I love you, but you're really not a part of the team right now. And rude, Jemma.
ReplyDeleteChristian Ward is the worst and I love Fitz and Mack's friendship. Bobbi and Lance are amazing and awesome and hilarious.
Great episode!
want spoilers........did SHIELD name get cleared or they likely being blame for what happen
ReplyDeleteAll the Fitzsimmons feelings :(
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode, great moves by Bobbi freaking Morse, she kicked them good!
So...Jemma left because she feels she's responsible for what happened to Fitz and she believes he's better off without her.
ReplyDeletePlease excuse me while I go drink until I blackout.
what do you mean the worst you saw what happened with ward at the end
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping he didn't actually kill the gun and it was an ICER or something. But redemption isn't supposed to be easy so it'll take time.
ReplyDeletethere so much going on. I like that Fitz address how he felt bout Simmons leaving. Love everything Mockingbird. Ward's big brother might be as crazy as Ward...
ReplyDeleteBest parts of the night seeing the teaser to Agent Carter and of course i had a nerdgasm when i saw the executive scene from The Avengers Age of Ultron. the scene was too funny.
Coulson's verbal takedown of Ward was everything.
ReplyDeleteWard's storyline is really distracting. Either get it on its path or kill off the character. Their anger and hatred had a place and it's been done well in a few places but tonight's episode not so much. It made the other characters appear ugly.
ReplyDeleteThat was an awesome episode! And that Marvel clip had me salivating! Haha! I cannot wait until May 2015!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the scene where Bobbi and Lance shot that guy at the same time. That was hilarious.
Ward and Christian . . . . I don't know what to make of their stories. They are both crazy it seems.
I liked the Fitz/Simmons interaction. I guess things are going to be awkward btw them for awhile. I am enjoying Fitz and Mack. Their scenes are good!
so ward DIDN'T lie? i'm very confused and i just saw the epidoe
ReplyDeleteNo, Ward didn't lie. We saw flashbacks in "The Well" and pretty sure he couldn't fake those. His abusive fuckhead of a brother lied and they just tried to hand Grant over to one of his abusers, no big deal. I don't approve of his methods but I'm glad he broke out.
ReplyDeleteYeah, screw him for that. Trying to hand him over to his abuser? No thank you.
ReplyDeleteso basically you still have hope in ward?
ReplyDeleteI sure don't at this point.
ReplyDeletei want to have hope and son of a bitch i want to sooo BADLY but those flashbacks were from his perspective we may never get and actual answer unless we travel back in time
ReplyDeleteUnless . . . . we are to believe the FB was a lie. I was not sure. I think they want us to be skeptical of both Ward and Christian.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Those were his FBs, and if he's a really good liar, then he has come to believe his own lies. I just don't know w/Ward.
ReplyDeleteCoulson is probably out of fucks to give. Ward has murdered, maimed, threatened and betrayed innocent people, people who trusted him to be on their side. The abuser became the abused and he's shown no realistic remorse or compassion for his crimes. ReplyDeleteAwesome only in that one single episode could be /that/ awful. Really disappointed with this show, have been for a while, but this? This was 20 levels of fucked up.

ReplyDeleteBut how can you expect Coulson to know what's the truth? He can't b/c Ward has lied so often and has betrayed them at every turn. I think Coulson's reaction makes sense given what he knows.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that they managed to trigger every single abuse survivor I'm friends with on Twitter and Tumblr (there's a few) tonight so A+ there.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Ward probably isn't lying, but I can understand why his teammates no longer trust anything he says.
ReplyDeleteHe seemed to believe Grant about his abuse despite everything until he bought into Christian's lies.
ReplyDelete"Abusive Behaviour: A general term for various behaviours which may be aggressive, coercive or controlling, destructive, harassing, intimidating, isolating, or threatening, that a batterer or abuser may use to control a domestic partner, child or other victim."

I voted 'Good' because this wasn't my favorite episode.
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked about the episode:

I'm hoping in two weeks the show can get back on track. And who was the guy getting tattooed at the end? I wonder if he'll play into the next episode.
And that describes John Garrett to a T. Ward's fucked up, I'm willingly admitting that, but he's still not an abuser.
ReplyDeleteBut he bought into Christian's lies b/c of Ward's actions. If Ward hadn't lied and betrayed them, then Coulson wouldn't have believed Christian.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm not sure why Coulson is expected to know that Christian is the actual liar in this situation. Ward lied to Coulson for a long time so when Christian says he has been trying to counter Ward's lies all his life, of course Coulson believes him.
Ward put himself in this position.
And doesn't even try to apologize to Simmons when he does come in contact with her after throwing her off the plane. He's just a shit human being.
ReplyDeleteHe literally meets the qualifications. This is not debatable.
ReplyDeleteThat's a little victim-blamey. Ward definitely lied and he deserves their distrust but accusing an abuse victim of lying? Handing the victim over to one of his abusers? Wrong in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteWorse . . . he's a killer!
ReplyDeleteI liked Ward too and didn't want him to betray the team, but that is what he did last year.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure he was thrown off by the fact that they were about to hand him off to one of his abusers and then Jemma threatened to kill him. And Fitz actually did try to kill him so I'm guessing he thinks apologies won't help.
ReplyDeleteI can understand, too, but what I don't understand is why they treat him like the worst kind of monster when he really, really isn't.

ReplyDeleteIn any event, I don't see myself as "victim blaming." What I am saying is this: if you lie to everyone and betray them, you should not be surprised if those same people don't believe you about something else.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? He could have at least apologized to her . . . not that that would make up for what he did, but it would have been something.
ReplyDeletePretty much sums up my feelings on the episode...and glad I'm not alone in being confused by the tattooed guy.
ReplyDeleteChristian oozes slime so I'm hoping Coulson expected Ward to escape and is playing an angle there... the way he always seems to be (kind of a Gary Stu that way, but whatevs)...
ReplyDeleteGrant and Christian both seem to be insane and have different sides to what happened at the well.
Hes an awesome character is what he is. and now on the loose!
ReplyDeleteCoulson said everything i wanted in Ward’s face. What a amazing moment! Bless papa Coulson!
ReplyDeleteWhat a AMAZING episode! Coulson said everything i wanted in Ward’s face. What a amazing moment! claps and claps! Simmons protecting Skye from Ward was the most epic moment on this season so far! and omg..i want more May, Bobbi and Hunter in missions together!! It was so badass!!
ReplyDeleteWard is not a victim and it never was! The victims here are the team, Skye, Simmons, Fitz, Coulson and May. Ward is a traitor the did a lot of horribe things and almost killed Simmons and Fitz. I will never forget that!
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely gonna to cause more trouble, which should be entertaining so that is fine w/me.
ReplyDeleteWard is out. YES! In the beginning when he was working out, first things he worked on was his Hands! lol, I knew then oh shit, its about to happen. And thank god it did. Can't have a tactical genius such as him in peak condition in lock up. Look forward to what he does out and about.
ReplyDeleteLance Hunter hunter to me finally became a likeable character when Bobby around, for that I hope he doesn't just leave yet.
ReplyDeleteFBs?
ReplyDeleteYea what ever happened to using the Night Night Pistol. Am I too assume, they made them look like regular guns. I remember first few ep this season mainly first, where Sky was still using the a Night Night Pistol from the blue flash, however this episode it was all Orange aka regular.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing episode I totally understand why they placed the avengers clip after it people will surely tune in.
ReplyDeleteYes to no redemption ward I laugh at all the defending here lol!
The guynis batshit crazy for thinking he is a part of the team he is absolutely crazy .
Fitzmack!! I love these two fitz is at least happy and Simmons in awe as well as a little jealous
I loved her warning to ward bet it will come in play later if ward dies it might be through Simmons.
Fitzsimmons is way too awkward but they need time and fitz is worse when he's with Simmons but don't justify Simmons she should have at least told him why she left
Overall awesome episode and Bobbi and lance were kickass and she mentioned barton!!
I posted elsewhere but I think Ward's escape was coordinated. Coulson was looking at his evaluation file and the cuffs were almost intentionally loose on his right hand.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Ward will slap Simmons in the face.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if maybe Coulson has a secret plan/mission with Grant and that he wanted Grant to escape. But maybe I'm imagining things??
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed the episode. Love May, Hunter and Bobbi on their mission together. Great chemistry between Hunter and Bobbi, it's so funny that they're fighting bad guys and at the same time they're bickering.
Wonder what Ward will do now that he's escaped.
I think Coulson did expect Ward to escape. He did look through Ward's file before turning him over. There is a spin to this, I am sure of it :)
ReplyDeleteC'MON you cant say that.
ReplyDeleteNext eposode we willl see if Ward has really changed.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'm making sense, or if I sound crazy...
Yes of course he should how dare Simmons be angry because he almost killed her and left her friend brain damaged and ruined their friendship forever how dare she!!
ReplyDeleteLet's be real; Jemma is angry and defensive not only because this man hurt her immensely, but also because he poses an ominous and foreboding threat to Skye's safety.
ReplyDeletewhere the hell did Coulson get that strike team that was esorting ward out to US military custody.....
ReplyDeleteThat's the spirit!
ReplyDeleteHonestly...I am not sure if that's what happened. I don't think that Coulson trust the senator. I don't think that he trusts Ward either, but I have the feeling that there was more going on that what meets the eye.
ReplyDeleteI really love how they keep the audience off-balance concerning Ward. It is simply hard to tell what he really is under all the training and conditioning. But I think his fear concerning his brother was genuine. I am not sure concerning his reason, though.
Coulson is probably out of fucks to give
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh but its true, you can't blame Coulson for being pissed.
It does seem like SHIELD has grown a lot lately, like earlier in the episode there was some random agent in a suit walking down the corridor.
ReplyDeleteDear god the reaction here.
ReplyDeleteAs a few others have said I wouldn't be surprised if Coulson and Ward have their own secret plan together and if that's the case then once again fandom overacted to plot points before seeing the full picture.
ReplyDeleteholy shit, this episode was good... i actually like that Coulson was a ruthless BAMF, it just shows us that he really changed (like Raina said it) also, i guess hard choices are coming for everyone
ReplyDeleteOh yes, freaking out the entire episode about his abuser and then being handed over to him makes him selfish.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know Jemma won't actually do it but I'm upset about a lot of things from last night.
I'm hoping so
ReplyDeleteYes, Ward was a victim - he was abused by his older brother and parents and then Garrett kidnapped him and proceeded to abuse him some more. But he was also a perpetrator. He's not one or the other.
ReplyDeleteI love Tim De Kay and it was great to see him as Christian Ward.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of Skye's father after last episode was a bit disappointing.
ReplyDeleteThis show is turning into General Hospital...too much soapy stuff going on
ReplyDeleteHe was focused enough on Skye to be able to talk about her father, but he too freaked out to say sorry to Jemma? Hmm yeah thats's bullshit.
ReplyDeleteWho do you guys believe? Grant or Christian?
ReplyDeleteListen, I hate Grant Ward as much as any other sane person would.
Nevertheless, he's still an a**hole!
honestly its like Game of Thrones. you make moves to win the game, sometimes when you watch tv, you have to suspend all reality, the morals that may carry us in the real world only apply if they are purposefully established in the tv world
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with Bobbi. She's so gorgeous and kickass. Miss her brown hair a bit though
ReplyDeleteThat's my theory too. Plus, he mentioned that Ward would likely be executed so I think that is why Simmons said what see did. She knew there was a chance they would cross paths again,
ReplyDeleteYou, good sir/madame, win the internet for today. LOVE how Coulson laid it on the line for all SkyeWard shippers and self-righteous "Abuse victims are not responsible for any evil shit they proceed to do" people, who will no doubt carry on giving their bullshit excuses nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteMy Skimmons feels at Simmons stepping protectively in front of Skye :) I'm not strictly a shipper, but those two would be too cute together.
ReplyDelete"Flashbacks" :-)
ReplyDeleteAw thanks friend :) Yeah, Coulson was delivering nothing but the truth, and if people are offended by that, that's fine; but it doesn't make it any less true.
ReplyDeleteWell said!!
ReplyDeleteI love Ward, but it would be ridiculous if they forgive them just becaase he is hot and handsome!! XD
ReplyDeletefun ep but i'm waiting on more pieces to come together. getting kind of numb to the heros on the run story. ready for them to start making up ground. like Bobbi on the team.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe he truly believes that. Thus, maybe he also truly believe his brother forced him to hurt his other brother. Explaining the vision! Like I said, both versions are possibles!
ReplyDeleteI tend to believe Grant (for reasons I explained earlier, especcially the vision), but even if Christian's right, let's talk about that.
ReplyDeleteP.S. It's annoying to keep switching back and forth between "Ward" and "Grant", heh. But since we're talking about Christian Ward as well, it's just more comfortable to refer to both by their first names.
Wow, you are all about the excuses.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if they went into Garrett's past more, we could find excuses for him, too.
ReplyDeleteHis reasoning seems to be "SHIELD screwed me over so I'm going to screw them over". We saw him kidnap a sixteen year old abuse victim and then physically and emotionally abuse him for over a decade. John There are no excuses for Garrett's behavior.
ReplyDeleteThis show has really good fight scenes. They're so well coordinated. Props to the stunt doubles and the coordinator, because those fight scenes look cool.
ReplyDeleteMay's mission with the divorced agents was funny.
You don't know that for sure.
ReplyDeleteYeah and I don't care because we've seen Grant being abused all his life. Please don't make up stuff about Garrett - who we've seen is a psychopathic, kidnapping abuser, just to try to prove your point because it's not going to work.
ReplyDeleteI know it won't work, because it's BS.
ReplyDelete
