Law and Order Special Victims Unit - Girl Disappeared "Baby Noah"

What an awesome episode! The writers always seemed to have a great way of tying up story lines in season premieres. This episode managed to do just that. We found out what Amaro's punishment was for beating up that photographer. He's back working the traffic beat in Queens but his awesome work on this case, I'm sure he'll get his shield back soon. It seems like Amaro and Rollins still had a thing going on... But the reason we all tuned in was to find out what happened to baby Noah's birth mother. And we got what we came for, not only did the Detectives catch Ellie Porter's killer but they also took down a major human traffior.

The episode started off with Amaro catching a man getting serviced by a 16 year old girl in the john's car. So of course they both got taken into the station.  While they were got booked Rollins and Fin showed up and said that the girl was a witness in Elli's murder case. So Fin and Rollins took the girl back to SVU to start asked questions.

Meanwhile the SVU squad got a new Detective since Amaro left. Detective Carisi was not very liked by the squad, Benson was the most annoyed with Carisi but with his tactic he managed to get the girl to talk. He offered her a chance to start a new life.  She told them about a house that she lived in, all the girls she had been worked with, and that there was a man that controlled the whole house. So Benson decided to put someone undercover, not just anyone but someone that he known and that has a grudge against the NYPD. So she choose Amaro to help them and he agreed.  Amaro grained the trust of Joaquin Menendez into thinking that they were working together, Joaquin gave Amaro money then Amaro gave Joaquin a heads up whenever the NYPD got close to arresting him for his working girls.

After the SVU raided Joaquin’s house they found several girls that were trafficked into this country for sex. That’s when Benson realised that this case was much bigger than just finding Ellie Porter’s killer. It was about finding the master mind behind this whole thing. Unfortunately with Amaro working with Joaquin it set off a chain of events. Several of the witness where murdered in jail and on the streets. Plus there was a scare put out on Benson’s baby to send a message, a man shot up a playground while baby Noah was there. But little did either parties know that it would lead to the killer. Soon Benson and the rest of the SVU Detectives figured out that the trail lead to Angel, a man they interviewed earlier.

Over all this episode was great! But I could have done with out the mushy baby stuff… What did you guys think?

  1. Great review Shirleena, SVU is one of my favorite shows, and really enjoyed the season premiere. Will be an interesting season!

  2. I wasn't as pumped for this season opener as I've been for the previous three. I was really annoyed with all the promotion for the Benson & Baby show (key art, promo) and my hopes oft the first episode was basically just to get over and done with this whole Noah arc & that we wouldn't have to see much of him from there on.
Now... the episode was okay. I liked Carisi coming in and acting like he owned the place, people who stir up things have always been fun in my book. I understand why Amaro's where he's at, and it served well with the episode as well as the upcoming ones from what I understand, but I prefer him in the squad room and it seems I'll get my wish in ep 3. Fin & Rollins rocked as usual. I thought the ratio of Benson/Noah time on this ep was okay since he was involved in the case but in further eps I prefer none to zero of that, let him and Benson be happy at home off-screen and then we hopefully can see a more likeable Benson in the squad room on-screen. I don't want to see cuddling with babies on SVU, neither in a heinous way or in a non-heinous way.
