According to Twitter, we should already know the killer if we watched Broadchurch, I didn't watch BC (I will after Gracepoint) and I won't read anything on it so I can be surprised. I like GP despite the critics reaction. I think they let BC blind them to what could grow into a good, moody drama. It's not Twin Peaks 2014 but it's good.
David Tennant and Jacki Weave both said in interviews that the killer is going to be different from Broadchurch's. So unless they were misinformed it should be different
The reason critics panned it wasn't because it was bad, it was because it was pretty much a shot for shot remake of a British show they liked except with American actors (or David Tennant attempt of American accent). Most critics got I think 7/10 episodes and it doesn't start to deviate from broadchurch until ep 7.
With that said I am going to continue watching even though the first episode was a weird hour of deja vu. I am curious how they are going to handle the ending, even though I am pretty sure I know who it is going to be if it isn't the same killer as BC.
I would try to stay away from all discussions of either shows because their will always be some jerk who will post who did it on BC.
I thought I read somewhere that Danny's killer would be someone different than Broadchurch ,which I already watched on BBC America. Something like - I read - that the "Who killed Rosie" killer was changed for the US version of The Killing" versus the original Danish version. I only saw the US version of The Killing.
They are pretty much right , episode 7 is where all the big changes are made and when the story takes it own route away from Broadchurch. In the episodes before 7 , only small changed have been made.
Thank you for the confirmation. I only watched around half of Gracepoint before I had a major interruption but I thought it was very good and look forward to resuming watching the Pilot likely tomorrow.
I've never seen Broadchurch or even heard of it before, but I guessed who the killer was right after watching the pilot of Gracepoint which ended up being the same killer as in Broadchurch! So I guessed completely right if I was watching Broadchurch. But now that I've read they are changing the killer, I'm not sure! Darn! That person was right on the money. So I have no clue how they are going to change who the killer is in Gracepoint. They'd need to change storyline details in a big way....
I watched BC - I am surprised they would change it. BC nailed it and it was very intense to watch. I too had a this weird deja vu thing watch GP ... it was just so strange seeing it again but different. That facial/neck hair does nothing for David Tennant. I just sit there wondering if he combs his neck. Anna Gunn is really good here which could be going to waste if they did change the killer. I'll hang around for 2 more eps but after that I'm not sure.
As it already had previously aired in america on BBC America there was no point in them bringing it to FOX without changing it around a bit. A new killer is a good idea. Broadchurch did nail it , the whole series was very intense , and the ending was very satisfying. I am sure the ending to Gracepoint will be just as good.
It keeps everyone guessing. I have seen the first seven episodes of Gracepoint already , and I have no idea who it could be. It literally could be anyone.
Gracepoint's last 4 or 5 episodes will veer off in a different direction than Broadchruch. The killer will be different and the storyline itself will be different,so bare with it! Where have you been? I haven't seen you for months now,i hope it isn't your back but just taking the summer off? My back is the same, some good days, some days i can't move, you know what i mean. I wish that was my only health problem.I won't go into here but i it seems everytime i go to the doctors they find something else wrong with me.....Needless to say its depressing.Anyway, tell me about you!
Old computer blew up so it took a while to track down my passwords. Starting with the sleep problems again. Up at 2:30 this morning. Legs getting a little weaker but everything else is still the same. Just watched Episode 2 of Bones. Wasn't Lime in the Coconut Vincent's song?
I'm addicted to this show. The writers/producers have done a wonderful job of inserting small clues that can make you think one way or the other. Isn't that what murder mysteries are supposed to do?
I'm casting my vote for Sara, Miller's sister. She smokes (placing her at the scene) and she has motive (a drug addict). She might have gotten Danny caught up in drug trafficking (he had a smartphone and a bankroll of money in his room) and when he threatened to expose her or maybe he tried blackmailing her, she killed him. She had access to the boat also.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Outside bet: Tom.

ReplyDeleteI´m going with Tom aswell. :-)

ReplyDeleteI am going for Paul Coates.
ReplyDeleteToo early, too many viable/shaddy characters...if I had to guess right now...Vince..since I know nothing about him.
ReplyDeletegreat poll. voted for joe but I will probably change my mind each episode lol
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've been staying away from interviews etc...I want to be shocked. Since I haven't seen BC, this is good for me.
ReplyDeletethat is good to know.

It was the highest rated pilot here at Spoilertv in rating score. it got a 9.5 overall. It does get a little different before episode 7.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a bad pilot, I just wish it was different from BC. For me it was like watching the Gus Van Sant version of Psycho, good but unnecessary.
ReplyDeleteI hope it does differentiate from BC before ep.7, but I was just going off what other critics have said.
Its a little to early to tell but I'm going with Tom Miller for now.
ReplyDeleteToo early to tell but my suspects for now are Tom, Joe Miller or Paul Coates.

ReplyDeleteYou are right , I also read that and two stars confirmed that the killer will be different.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he did , I only remember the laptop to.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the confirmation. I only watched around half of Gracepoint before I had a major interruption but I thought it was very good and look forward to resuming watching the Pilot likely tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome , and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I know the ending (as in the killer) should be different to Broadchurch's according to Interviews so I have NO idea whom it could be...
ReplyDeleteI was watching the first episode of BoardChurch last night and episode 2 lol
ReplyDeleteThere was a scene where the boy deleted the 7 txt messages from Danny on his phone.
Emmet or owen.

ReplyDeleteI picked Paul Coates :) I think people overlook him because he is a priest.
ReplyDeleteInteresting choice. I think people overlook him because he is a child , but anyone is capable of murder.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought. He's definitely hiding something.
ReplyDeleteExactly my thoughts when I picked my suspects. People don't want them to be murderers. :)
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was he is too obvious. I'm going with older sister.

ReplyDeleteYep,it was Vincent's song.I remember Sweets saying it was his too when they started singing it for Vincent's farewell..

ReplyDeleteTom is protecting his dad. It's Joe Miller.
