The third episode of Gracepoint is really Mark central. The majority of the episode is focused on his whereabouts, since he can't really account for them.

At this moment our biggest suspect is Mark. We see him right before he has to go to the station text his friend Vince which it says "I was with you Thursday night". He doesn't want the police to know where he was that night and is trying his best to cover his tracks only it backfires on him. Carver and Miller interview Mark and he tells them some made up story. The two detectives, who's relationship hasn't improved, go see Vince. Vince tries to give Mark an alibi, but his mother confirms he was with her. They then visit Susan Wright who claims Mark made the whole "burst pipe thing up" could she be lying as Mark seemed pretty clear about that part. If she is lying, why would she, she has no reason to lie about anything. Unless she is hiding something that she doesn't want anybody to know.

Carver seems to be listening to what Mr Connolly said previously about a boat, as he asks Mark (during the interview) who does have a boat by the way. They find blood stains all over it. Mark tells them how Danny cut himself whilst fishing, this is probably true since the sister was supposedly there even though no confirmation has been given yet. Carver isn't buying it, he sees straight through Mark's lies, he doesn't believe anything unlike Ellie, who seems to discount Mark as a potential suspect because he is the victim's dad. If the killer is to be found , you cannot have a heart. I do want Mark to be innocent though as it would be predictable since there is so much evidence against him, I also want to see more suspects get brought into the picture. He did also get arrested though, which felt as if they just did it to make a first arrest on the show.

When told that everything he gave them was wrong (before being arrested) Mark doesn't know what to do and seems more guilty than before , until much later in the episode when Gemma Fisher helps him out , after a text from Mark's daughter Chloe saying "If you were with my dad on Thursday tell the police".
We find out Mark was sleeping with Gemma. I feel so sad for Beth, her son has died and if she ever found out she would probably go even more off the rails. Oh wait, at the end of the episode she sees them kissing. Poor Beth hasn't she been through enough. I wonder how Chloe found out though, maybe she walked in on them at the hotel which Gemma runs , and where Chloe works which would make the most sense I suppose. I am still wondering if Mark and Gemma were together that night, they may have been sleeping together , but she says "It got you out didn't it". I could be reading way too into this, and they could have been together, but the way she said it made it sound as if she only told them that so they could free him. He is still a suspect in my eyes.

The episode doesn't just focus on Mark we find out some other interesting things as well. We find out that using a boat to transport the body to the beach would leave no tracks since it would be all washed away. It would make the most sense if they used a boat, as I never understood why they would place the body on the beach instead of just leaving it on the Cliffside or throwing the body over it.
We are slowly unraveling how everything happened the night he was killed; we just need to find the killer, which I imagine we will find out who it is in the finale. I did like how Carver took into account what Mr Connolly said to him , maybe what he said about the pendent made him rethink whether to believe him. I believe Mr Connolly is telling the truth and is a psychic as some of the things he says do add up.
I also saw some blood stains in the back of Vince's van, we don't know too much about Vince only that he works with Mark. He definitely would have easy access to Danny through Mark. I hope we find out more about him, as I would like to see the episodes from now on spread out with us seeing a lot more people rather than mainly the Solano's.
Beth and the Reverend seem to have a past, as you could feel the chemistry between them, especially when he touched her hand. They must have been together before she met Mark, she seems to tell him everything when she has to voice her anger or thoughts. It can't just be because he is a reverend can it?

The scene of Beth and the reverend was after we see Mr Connolly approach Beth in what at first looked like he was following her. She later speaks with him and he says that Danny said "don't look for the killer, as he knew him well" After hearing this my initial thoughts were MARK MARK MARK. I think it will be a huge shock and be someone we least expect like Owen.
Carver also consoles a doctor in the episode, the doctor says "you have a bomb in your chest ready to go off" so basically some sort of heart condition. The doctor wants Emmet to take leave, but carver won't yet. It feels as if he needs to catch the killer, perhaps the Rosemont case he couldn't catch the killer and feels obligated to catch this one. Who know's , even with a heart condition I am sure he is still capable of doing his job.
Finally we also find out that in Danny's sweatshirt there was part of a crossword with a phone number at the bottom , who's number is this? I think it will turn out to be the backpacker's number and when they were on the cliff together, he wrote his number down, not sure why he would give it to a perfect stranger yet alone a young boy.

Episode 3 Prime Suspect:

Mr Connolly
Whilst I do believe him that he can probably talk to Danny, him following Beth is beyond creepy. He won't leave any of it alone and he should just keep what he has been told to himself but, instead he wants to tell a distraught mother. His peculiar nature makes me wonder if he is trying to divert attention away from himself. He could be trying to get close to the family, by feeding them lies, just so they can trust him and overlook him as the killer.

Summary
Gracepoint continues on a high making it remarkable television. They have turned a normal detective serious into a mystery drama and made it intriguing to watch. We are getting closer to uncovering the truth about what happened, but we aren't getting close to finding the killer. Another brilliant episode.
