Yeah but the hole story and probably the series was based on this new character that they were gonna introduce and then the cast change came and now we have completely new story line with completely new character in the main role.
I didn't see the leaked Pilot yet, but I know what you mean. I think there'll be a huge tonal shift in the second episode, which is why I'm going to wait a few episodes to see what people say about the new direction, before I try and watch it.
I think they're going to be playing on the "people around me always get hurt/killed" angle with Liv, so expect her to either get killed or injured, so Constantine will want even less to let someone new into his life.
When the cast change was announced they said they'd reshoot a few things from the pilot. I've seen the leaked pilot and my guess is Liv won't make it out alive in the reshoots. Especially since Constantine in the following episode (in the previous promo with the new lead) emphasises that everyone close to him dies
Well if that is true then they lost me completely as a viewer, I know that some people didn't like the idea and the story that the Constantine storyline was heading, but to me was a great story line and a great way to make the show. But this new line and complete change of the main actress and character is one of not so good change and it makes me loose very easily interest.
Interesting, for me it was the complete opposite. The casting change from a (imo) bland original character to one with roots in the source material actually increased my interest in the show. Was it primarily the character of Liv or her portrayer Lucy Griffith you liked?
I liked most the part where Constantine was going to in a way show her the ropes and take her under the his wing. You know teach her the basics. Many time when we get in to this kind of a show we never learn how the magic works, how the enchantments are being cast and so on.
Yeah, I can see how a mentor/student setup could appeal to people. The problem is that it very much goes against the character of John Constantine in the source material. Constantine is a selfish bastard. He is not a teacher. He has no desire to share his knowledge. Dabbling in magic and the supernatural has wrecked his life, why would he corrupt someone elses by teaching them magic? No, it's much more his style to hook up with someone already touched by the darkness. If it happens to be a smoking hot latina then that would just be a bonus.
I don't really know the origins of the story, but to me the teacher/student story was more interesting. Not because i like to see Constantine in a teacher role, but because as previously said i want to see more of the details of this magic stuff, like enchantments and so on.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Ok i'm seeing a lot of the pilot, but with this big cast change how the hell will they explain this new character and removal of the other?
ReplyDeleteThere was a new promo with the new female lead. My guess is, something bad happens off screen to the old lead, then the new one comes in.
