Oh, it wasn't official? I thought it had been announced a long time ago...
ReplyDeleteCasting was underway for season 3 , which meant that an official renewal was coming. So here it is.
ReplyDeleteThis is a little surprising. It's a decent enough show so I'm pleased. We'll see how far Black Sails goes beyond this though. Starz doesn't have a track record of keeping any show around for the long term.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky show!
ReplyDeleteI say it's more than "decent" show. Not a lot of shows can be entertaining without insult you brains or stall.
ReplyDeleteI stopped to watch the show after they killed Billy. I was really disappointed. Doubt I'll watch the upcoming seasons .
ReplyDeleteWait! The second season isn't even out yet! I'm 2 episodes into the first, it's pretty decent!
ReplyDeleteCompared to most action heavy dramas out there Black Sails is unique, it's not too dumb and not as pretentious as various HBO shows (aka. embraces the crazed factor at times).
ReplyDeleteSo I'm pleased with the renewal, lord knows Starz NEEDS some shows in its lineup that create outside buzz. Da Vincis Demons is still going and you rarely hear anything about it.
The last shows Starz had that were in some way public hits were Torchwood and Spartacus. Since we all know Torchwood isn't going to come back and Spartacus ended we can safely say they're in dire need of one
Black Sails managed to create waves on various news outlets and was sold into enough foreign markets to warrant a third season already.
So I'm excited, that being said I wouldn't want it to continue past 4 seasons, there's only so much you can do with a prequel to Treasure Island without eventually having to do Treasure Island as a follow up (what I'm SURE they will sooner than later or as the final season)
They did renew it for 2nd season before it even premiered, so...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping Da Vincis Demons somehow lasts five or six seasons, its my favorite show they have ever done I think.
ReplyDeleteoh that would be good
ReplyDeleteOh yea. With this they can really tell and develop a story.
ReplyDeleteI take it you're not familiar with Treasure Island then. If you think Billy Bones is dead.
ReplyDeleteNo I'm not. Why? The show got pretty messy and even though I enjoyed watching it, somehow it lost the charm for me. I know this sounds contradictory but I had to force myself to watch it.
ReplyDeleteBecause the show is a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic book 'Treasure Island'. Taking place roughly 20 years before the book.
ReplyDeleteAnd I assume that means Billy is alive there? Okay nice for Treasure Island's. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes indeed. Billy Bones and John Silver are characters. And the buried treasure is Captain Flint's
ReplyDeleteThat sounds interesting. Flint was somehow underwhelming for during some eps, to passive. Don't know if it changed by season end but somehow he was to smitten for me to lead all those people.
ReplyDeleteHaha, yeah Starz must have a lot of faith in their shows. They've renewed Survivor's Remorse for season 2 as well!
