In a very competitive situation, Bewitched, a new take on the classic supernatural sitcom, has landed at NBC with a pilot production commitment. Sony Pictures TImage (1) silversteinkohn__131010000301-275x219.png for post 607876V took out the comedy, penned by The Vow writers Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, last week, garnering interest from multiple networks that created a bidding situation between NBC and ABC, the network, which aired the original series from 1964-1972.
Coming on the 50th anniversary of Bewitched‘s debut, the new version is a reimagining of the original series two generations later. It centers on Daphne — Samantha’s granddaughter and Tabitha’s daughter — a single twenty-something witch, who has always used her magical powers to conjure herself the perfect life. But she soon realizes that the one thing she cannot conjure and control is the one thing she wants most – real love.

I can't even...
ReplyDeleteThis is most awesome! I FLOVE this show. It was definitely one of my favorites growing up. I am surprised that ABC did not pick it up. Their loss and NBC's gain.
ReplyDeleteI hope in a good way!
ReplyDeleteI hope Will Ferrell isn't in this, he sucked in the movie version.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't even alive when the first one aired. It will be my great pleasure to cancel this one out of existence.
ReplyDeleteYep. My money is on you, bear.
ReplyDeleteBad idea, didn't these people even do any research there was a shot lived spinoff of the show called "Tabitha" and it got cancelled pretty fast. This spin off is most likely to get cancelled as well.. You cannot recreate the major that the original show had
ReplyDeleteUm that was just the movie, I doubt it
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a bad thing for NBC, there was already one spinoff of this show and it got cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI thought there was a movie...and not a TV show that they did....
ReplyDeleteI don't think it works as a movie...it is more of a half hour week to week thing. I also think that in the reboot movie the casting sucked....Nicole Kidman was not the way to go to...she in no way was an Elizabeth Montgomery.
The success of the show will definitely depend on casting. Even in the first show, casting was important...Dick York was the best...nu Darren was horrible.....
Me either.
ReplyDeleteI'm still hoping for a continuation series staring Tabitha Stephens, her brother Adam, and her childhood best friend and now the man she loves Jonathan Tate ... not to mention all her zany and immortal witch relatives.
Don't give a damn what anyone says, this could be brilliant and I am freakin hella excited about this. No such thing as too many witches on TV after all.

ReplyDeleteTabitha aired back in 1976 and we have come along way in television since then so I think in 2015 we will be final able to do this show justice.
Tabitha was played by Knots Landing's Lisa ( Ciji Dunne / Cathy Geary ) Hartman Black.
ReplyDeletesmh... at least I hope that it will be better than the Will Farrell/Nicole Kidman movie remake that was just horrible iirc...
ReplyDeleteGood cast is key. Sadly, I don't think you can get away from the romantic comedy situation....the whole show is about it.....I just loved uncle Arthur and all the family members....its a truly funny show.
ReplyDeleteYep, recall it now. It was not a good show.
ReplyDeleteMy childhood is coming back to haunt me.
ReplyDeleteNeither can i...
