Arrow - Season 3 - Katie Cassidy Interview

Oct 15, 2014

Thanks to Justin for the heads up.

TVLINE | At the time you and Caity Lotz filmed the Season 2 finale, did you know that there was an even bigger goodbye scene coming up in the premiere?
What makes you think it’s a final goodbye…?

TVLINE | Well, Sara got shot up with a bunch of arrows and fell from a roof….
It’s television, maybe she’s still alive! [Laughs] But having said that, no, we definitely did not know that that was going to be in the season opener. The one thing I will say about our show, which is great, is that Sara is very much a huge part of Season 3. She drives Laurel, she is inspirational for her. She motivates her. There are plenty of reasons why Laurel does some of the things she does in Season 3 are encouraged by her sister.

TVLINE | What gamut of emotions will we see Laurel go through starting this week?
As though we didn’t see enough of this in Season 2, it’s a hard season for her. She gets angry, she wants to get revenge somehow…. You’ll see her kind of dig deep and come out on top. Birds of PreyWe’ve always seen her be very driven, and you’ll continue to see that quality in her. She’s very, very strong, and she’s a fighter, so we’ll continue to explore that.

  1. I am glad KC seems very excited for the future of Laurel. I hope she and the writing for her delivers and people like me who was unable to enjoy her before will come to love her journey this season. All the best KC. Please please don't disappoint me :) I am so excited for Wildcat. It will be good to see a new form of fighting.

That being said I am happy its this version of the interview that is posted not the EW, IGN or other versions which became controversial on internet. Lets keep this site bicker free as much as possible people.

  2. Yes! I super psyched about her arc this Season... Actually everything seems to be incredible: Oliver's identity problem, Ra's al Ghoul, Diggle being a father, Felicity's backstory, Laurel finally becoming Black Canary, Roy becoming Arsenal, Flash crossover, Ray Palmer introduction(and maybe creating the Justice League of America), Olicity romance, Oliver's new tech and, of course, THE SPECTACULAR ACTION STUNTS!

They need to say they're doing another Birds of Prey/Suicide Squad episode and i'm done! (Birds of Prey having the Laurel/Helena/Felicity trident and Suicide Squad adding Harley Quinn)

  3. What an awesome interview! I'm really happy that Katie seems to be doing much better and the trajectory of Laurel towards BC is going to be really interesting/fun to watch. I hope this will make people who had a hard time liking her character last season (like me) will come to realize and accept her. Also looking forward to Wildcat and him being a part of Laurel's arc! That is going to be badass.

  4. Yeah, the other interview I saw was the EW one and that one was not....good. Those last two questions (about where if Oliver is a love interest for Laurel and if there is any jealousy towards Felicity) completely turned me off from the interview. This TVLine interview is much much better.

  5. I hope they keep BoP for next season. We need to see Laurel working with Felicity first and get used to it and later Helena can come early episode in season 4. I am bummed we don't have a Suicide Squad episode in the first half of the season. When is H.I.V.E story line going to be explored. FunFact: Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost from The Flash is a H.I.V.E. member. So she is essentially Digg's enemy.

  9. Can't wait for Wildcat to train Laurel and her to start her BC journey, KC's enthusiasm this season and training has gotten me excited as well.

  12. As much as i try to keep an open mind in regards to KC and her part on the show, and her ?able acting, she just kinds grates on me, but i promised myself i'd keep an open mind this season. Even now we know for sure she is going to be the Black Canary :( i'm so going to miss Sara.
On the other side of this i'm wondering if the arrow EP's are giving us Olicity fans an Olicity season before they break our hearts by putting Oliver with Laurel for the last two seasons. I mean i know Arrow originates from the comics but seriously we've evolved, the comics have evolved and hey we have TV now. So sometimes it should be out with the old and in with the new, all the best hero's have smart non superhero girlfriends. Iron Man being my favorite.

Anyway i'll stop moaning, keep my fingers crossed that no matter what happens the end game surely must be Olicity.

  13. JFC I was on the EW one and that comment section is just trash :p So many ship wars it's insane. I'm glad I have spoilerTV as my safe haven :')

Thank you guys for being mature as hell! *high fives for all of you. Except for the occasional trolls*

  14. It's always nice to see some seemingly genuine enthusiasm from an actor or actress for the character they play rather than getting the impression that it's just a paycheck. People like these make TV shows better.
