Not feeling this casting at all.
ReplyDeleteI guess it was too much to hope for complex women detectives.
ReplyDeleteWow you knocked the sexist ball out of the park didn't you?
ReplyDeleteHmmm...that is a strange match. But I will check it out.
ReplyDeleteI like bothe actors. Just recently I watched Deliveryman with VV and he was great. This seems promissing, I'll most likely tune in.
ReplyDeleteVery excited about this one. I think the casting is interesting & I'm sure Nic and HBO know what they're doing. Both Vaughn and Farrel haven't had the most exciting careers lately, but they both have great work under their belts. Remember where Mcconaughey was at before True Detective season 1 + Dallas Buyers Club last year? (Surfer Dude, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Magic Mike...)
ReplyDeleteI really like Farrell, and am very interested to see Vaughn in this role, so sounds cool! Pizzolato deserves some faith after the amazing job he did on the first season.
ReplyDeleteVince isn't playing one of the detectives.. there are still 2 main roles (detectives) to be announced, and we know one is female.
ReplyDeleteNo female lead ?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait! The first season was amazing, so hopefully they can deliver this season. I hope they announce the rest of the cast soon.
ReplyDeleteThere is going to be one, the casting hasn't been announced yet
ReplyDeleteWell...I like both.
ReplyDeleteNever seen any of both tackle a really dramatic role but I'm excited for that.
I can't be the only one wanting to see Brendan Fraser do that show though, right?!
As soon as you mentioned him, I thought he would be perfect for a show like this.
ReplyDeleteGreat. They got both Farrell and Vaughn. And I'm loving what I'm hearing about the storylines for Season 2.
ReplyDeleteSexism means that I'm discriminating against a particular sex. There is no evidence to back that up. I'm merely stating an opinion that I would prefer to see two women detectives. That does not mean I am against men in any way because I'm not. Also, you have degraded my opinion by assuming that I had a negative intent against your own sex. This is not the case. If you had instead inquired as to why I have this opinion, I would tell you its because I'm tired of seeing two male law enforcement officers solving crime which already dominate the tv landscape. There are also a number of male/female crime solving partnerships on tv. It would be new and interesting to have two female detectives to explore since it is rarely shown.
ReplyDeleteNobody will be match for the interpretations of the 2 main characters of the past season
ReplyDeleteI still wish I were living in that blissfully ignorant period of time when we all thought Jessica Chastain was contending for the lead role :(
ReplyDeleteThat comment isn't sexist.
ReplyDeleteI don't get this casting. Especially with all of the available actors in Hollywood. Twitter users cast this show better than their own casting director. VV hasn't done drama or anything that required serious acting since he played Norman Bates. I just hope the rest of the cast is better and I truly, truly hope Colin shaves that ugly mustache that makes him look like an 70's porn king. Wasn't there supposed to be 2 males and a female cop? If VV is one of the criminals, we still have some casting to hope for.
ReplyDeleteSounds boring as heck. Pretty much done with HBO until Westworld.
ReplyDeleteMcConaissance? I think it was more of a Vince Gonaissance
ReplyDeleteThey were the two draws as far as I'm concerned so I'm glad to have them confirmed!
ReplyDeleteStill a couple of big female roles to be confirmed, including like you noted the female lead detective From everything I have read this season has more actresses and bigger female roles.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure any group can match last year either, but....
ReplyDeleteHad anyone told me before the season aired that Harrelson's and McConaughey's performances would be tapped for Best Actor nominations and a big part of why the show was looked at as one of the best first years ever I would have laughed! XD
Nic Pizzolatto and his team proved they can bring out the best in their cast so I am prepared to give this season's cast the benefit of the doubt without any hesitation!
That's how I felt about Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mccoughney (never could spell his name right), and we saw how that turned out.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDeleteI had the same opinion of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, particularly McConaughey. He proved me wrong last year in a huge way!
I've said it before and I will again I'm sure...
The script, director, crew and other cast members are equally or maybe even more important to the outcome than any one actor's abilities. Greta actors can be terrible with bad material and average actors can be great with good material.
Not sure about Vaughn but given how good the first season was I trust they made the right decision.
ReplyDeleteVince Vaughn does drama (non-comedian roles) very very well. It will be very interesting to see his performance... I believe he's gonna shock a lot of people who think he just does comedy... Colin is also a great actor with some depth.. Interested to see the rest of the characters they come up with.. Something tell me Vince is gonna nail it like Matthew did last season
ReplyDeleteisnt the only show that has two female lead detectives is "rizzoli and isles" isnt it?
