    I really don't remember Alaric & Caroline interacting a whole lot when Alaric was on the show before so it feel really random if they have a lot of scenes together now.

    It just feels contrived to me. Alaric & Caroline have always been part of the group but Alaric only
    really ever interacted with Damon, Stefan, Elena & Jeremy on a
    regular basis - he never spent time with (or really interacted with)
    Caroline, Matt, Tyler and Bonnie.

    Then with Matt/Tyler - Matt & Tyler were friends in the first two seasons but after Tyler decided to pursue Caroline (while she was dating Matt) in Season 2 it seemed like they had stopped being friends and didn't interact in Seasons 3 & 4 so for them suddenly to resume their friendship out of nowhere in Season 5 when Tyler came back in the middle of the season didn't work for me because there was no build-up for it or anything.

    I don't see how it can feel contrived when it fits the circumstances so well. Your reasoning is that since Caroline and Alaric haven't interacted much before that they shouldn't be put together now? How does that make sense? How could anyone ever form a relationship under those terms?

    Good to see other characters interact I think it'll be great to see that this season so we can be free from the ship-related scenes for a little while.
    Oh and good news this time super vamp Alaric isn't torturing Caroline yay!

    I'm interested in whatever the hell the show is planning for Bonnie and Damon (they're very tight-lipped about it) but Alaric should be a very interesting character this season as well. It seems, as a new vampire, he's going to be dealing with a lot of stuff all at once and that'll be fun to watch.

    Not really. He used to be interesting. Way back in the day when he at least tried to kill some vampires and guarded Jenna, Elena, jeremy etc from vampires in their lives.
    Then he basically become Damon's prop. So boring, i was happy when he finally died.
    Now he is back and going to spend time mourning Damon and talking to Caroline about Elena mourning Damon, then to Stefan mourning Damon about how they are both mourning Damon...Then he will stop talking about mourning damon and will start talking about saving damon, then they will save damon, and he will be talking to damon about how much he was worried for him, then they will share a drink and talk about damon troubles with elena. If you are into that bromance sort of thing i guess you will like it.

    I do like bromances. Not a big Damon fan, never was, but I did like their friendship. Not as much as Stefan and Lexi though.
