Hey all,
Yesterday we saw Beauty and the Beast progress to the next round at the hands of Charmed, while FRIENDS took out Almost Human.
Today sees Hannibal, which knocked out Game of Thrones in the first round, facing The 100. We then have How I Met Your Mother taking on Revenge.
Reminder of the rules:

Hannibal and Revenge.
ReplyDeleteSince I wasn't very happy with the course Hannibal took last year I'll go with The 100, which was a pleasent surprise, and Revenge, since I never found HIMYM funny or enjoyable.

ReplyDeleteI'll go with The 100 simply because I'm enjoying it a tad more than Hannibal, and so the same applies for Revenge- which beats the crap out of the HIMYM finale, but is practically on par in terms of enjoyment, so I give the upperhand to Revenge

ReplyDeleteOnly Revenge for me today. It should be interesting to see if the massive hate for HIMYM's finale balances out the fact that its fandom is presumably much bigger than Revenge's.

ReplyDeleteWas hard to choose between HIMYM and Revenge, but I went with HIMYM, despite the AWFUL finale just because it's one of the greatest sitcoms ever (if you refuse to accept the finale as canon)
My favourite Hannibal and HIMYM for me today.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm thinking. If it hadn't ended so terribly I think it could have won pretty easily...but a lot of fans (myself included) are still upset that the writers went that direction. I voted HIMYM simply for how great everything before the finale was. I do love Revenge, as well, though and would be just as happy if it won this round.

ReplyDeletePersonally, I never understood the notion that a terrible finale undoes years of greatness. Alias, for example, is one of my favorite shows ever, and the fact that I will probably never stop being bitter about how much its finale sucked isn't going to change that.

ReplyDeleteUsually a bad finale won't kill a show too much for me (btw I actually love the Alias one) but there's more to it for the HIMYM one. The writers knew how they planned to end it the whole time, but the way they portrayed Barney/Robin's relationship vs Ted/Robin's...They constantly pointed out how Ted/Robin could never work out because of how different they were and how Barney appreciated her more as an individual. Ted kept staying rather obsessed with her and the way it ended seemed like "Never give up and the girl will eventually be yours". There was no point in showing how Barney was better for her and then having her end up with Ted. Plus, they were obviously trying to go for some clever twist and it just didn't work out. Killing the mother was too convenient a storyline just so they could put Ted/Robin back together. The writers should have scrapped that ending (which they filmed way in advance) for a better one after how they told the rest of the story. Sorry if that all seemed rambling and didn't make much sense (I could really get into it way more). I'm exhausted but if I waited to reply later I'd have forgotten about it completely.
ReplyDeleteI do still love HIMYM, but the finale did take make the reruns kind of hard to watch in the same way, knowing how it all ends. I lost some respect for the writers after it.
Only HIMYM don't watch the other shows.

ReplyDeleteWell, for a long, long time- almost 5/6 months- I couldn't watch a single re-run of HIMYM, but now I can, it's a matter of time- and an alternate ending in this case-. There's lots of Lost fans who were disappointed by the finale, but still love the show. So it's all coming down to how much time it takes you to forgive the show.
ReplyDeleteIn this case for the poll, when you love two shows and you can't pick one a bad finale makes it easier to choose one or the other, which is why I chose Revenge in this round.

ReplyDeleteTrue, a bad finale as a tie-breaker makes sense. It's just that I've seen a few people vote against HIMYM when they don't even watch the other show, juz coz they're so mad about the finale. (I never watched HIMYM so I can't offer an opinion, here.)

ReplyDeleteThe 100 is much more engaging than Hannibal has become and Revenge easily wins over HIMYM, since I never watched more than a few minutes of HIMYM once and never got into it.

ReplyDeleteI mean the storyline of the mother Dying and ted moving on though was realistic, it was disappointing. We waited all those seasons for her just to die.
Not to mention they spent a whole season on the wedding, than separated Robin and Barney in the last episode. We barely got to see them as a married couple the same for ted and the mother. I was hoping we'd see Ted and the mother you know dating more and being married and having kids more. All those years with just a episodes length of scenes between them, if that.
And I grew to really like Robin and Barney. Whereas Robin and Ted died years ago and was ted became rather pathetic for his love for Robin. Then like Robin out of nowhere was like "I should have been with Ted" and I was ughhhh, not this shit again.
But most of all. EVERYONE LOVED THE MOTHER. She was the sweetest and most perfect partner for ted and a great addition in the group.
Sorry i missed this vote. I would have gone with The 100, one of the better new shows last season.
