Teen Wolf - Monstrous - Review/recap
Sep 1, 2014
MC Reviews Teen WolfWith the new episode of Teen Wolf coming out tomorrow, I thought I’d give a recap and review of the previous episode ‘Monstrous’. This episode was directed by J.D Taylor and written by Ian Stokes and the man himself, creator Jeff Davis, this episode was viewed by 1.44 million people in the US.
Usually with TV shows the closer they get to the final episodes of the season, the more questions get finally answered but not Teen Wolf, it gets more questions and leaves us always wanting more!! In the previous episode we learnt that Meredith is the benefactor and the banshee behind the dead pool.
‘Monstrous’ starts off like most episodes have been starting this season, with a new assassin trying to kill a supernatural creature. This episode we see two wolves running away in the school grounds by what appears to be hunters because they are using the same weapons that the Argents use. Just when the wolves look like they have given up and are about to be killed, Kira jumps in and tells them to run. (Yay Kira is back, I wonder how her mum is feeling from the berserker attack)
Liam and Scott have a scene together, where Scott is running out the door to go to Kira; however Liam stops him because he doesn’t think he can try and protect everyone and thinks it very difficult, Liam also says, “How are all of you alive?” and Scott looks at him, obviously thinking of Allison and Aiden, and says, “not all of us are” and he offers to take Liam home. Classic Teen Wolf, one minute an action scene and the next minute a sad scene. This scene was actually really sad for me because I really miss Allison :(
Stiles is then seen at the hospital, trying to run away, but Melissa is there making him stay and telling him he has a concussion and needs a CT scan. Stiles being Stiles still wants to leave, however, Melissa reassures him that Meredith is at the station and his dad will make her talk, there is nothing Stiles can do, he agrees to say if Melissa can get him a ‘tape player’, because he wants to listen to the full tape that Brunski recorded of Lydia’s grandmother when he was about to kill her.
Jumping to the station, Lydia is with the Sheriff trying to make Meredith talk; however, she isn’t really saying sentences just mumbling. Lydia and Papa Sheriff come to the conclusion that they don’t just need to stop the dead pool they need to stop the money, because assassins are still coming.
Scott arrives at the vet shop with the wolves that Kira saved, which are actually a part of Satomi’s park. Chris Argent is then seen breaking into a warehouse and easily knocking out a few people to get what appears to be wolfsbane, I think. (Please correct me if I’m wrong here, because I thought wolfsbane was purple?)
Malia comes to visit Stiles in the hospital because he almost got killed and she almost got killed. They are extremely awkward and I think Malia is a bit stubborn, okay maybe more than a bit. So as she goes to leave the room the door is locked thanks to mama McCall forcing them to talk, which was actually a good idea because it got Stiles to apologise to Malia and force her to listen to him. This was a really cute scene because Stiles was using Melissa as an example that sometimes people makes mistakes because they think it is the right thing to do and because he is using Melissa as an example it sounds like he is calling himself a girl. Malia ends up forgiving him and they admit that they both like and miss each other, and just like that the door opens up.
Scott brings Satomi, her pack and Kira to Chris Argent for help against the assassin hunters. Satomi tells the others that they have been trying to get out of Beacon Hills for days but everywhere they turn there are assassins.
Stiles and Malia get their hands on a tape player and together they listen to Lydia’s grandmother’s tape, while listening they realise that it wasn’t recorded in Eichen house. Malia has to try and listen with her supernatural hearing to know where it was recorded, that’s when she realises she hears the record player in the background, the one at the lake house. Back at the station Lydia gets her way and talks to Meredith, however, she says she only wants to talk to one person, Peter Hale. Oh no what has he done now!!
Braeden and Derek have joined Scott and others into waiting for the hunter assassins to come to them and are preparing for a fight. They know that Stiles and Malia are heading to the land house and that Lydia is talking to Meredith to get answers and are trying to find a way to stop the money being transferred. The permitter of the warehouse has been breached, the fight begins!
Peter is brought to the station to talk to Meredith and when she sees him she goes to grab his face and says that all his burns are all gone. Lydia realises that they have met before but Peter wouldn’t remember it because he got some of this memory taken from him from his sister Talia. Meredith tells Peter the reason she isn’t telling anyone is because he told her to keep it a secret. Peter has enough of her trying to explain so he grabs hold of her and sinks his claws into the back of her neck, which as we know from previous episodes links their memories, so he can know what she is talking about.
Meredith begins to mumble what Peter is seeing and only Lydia can understand it so she repeats it to Sheriff Stilinski and Deputy Parrish. In the past when Meredith was used to help Lydia’s grandmother she was brought to the hospital, the same hospital as Peter when he was burnt from the Hale fire. This is what Lydia said “It was right after the fire, Meredith could hear him. She could hear every thought in his head, like somehow they had the same wave length. It was almost like he was standing right over her bed and talking about the fire, about getting revenge.”
Peter was rambling on about Revenge saying that Talia made the pack weak and that made them easy to be picked off by the predators. He tells Meredith that he should kill them all, not just the wolves, every supernatural creature and he will remake them in his image. But he says he doesn’t have to do it himself he will hire people, assassins and use his money in the vault. So basically the rambling of a mad man got into Meredith’s head and she went crazy and thought she had to do all this.
I’m not really sure how I feel about this, because they are blaming Peter when he technically didn’t do it. He was going crazy in that time that he was burnt. Okay okay, he is still pretty evil but I like him, I really like his character. Even though the Sheriff wants to bring Peter in, Lydia tells him he can’t because Peter will kill everyone, so they let him walk out of the station.
Jumping to Malia and Stiles at the Lake House, they are listening to the record player but aren’t getting anywhere. That is until Stiles turns off the record player but Malia still hears something spinning. They realise it must be something in the wall, so Stiles grabs a wire coming out of the wall and pulls. The wall comes a part easily to reveal an old computer database server, aka the dead pool. Malia and Stiles sees that there is a key hole at the top of the server, which will shut down the system and the money transfers.
Stiles calls Lydia to try and help them, while Stiles swings the phone around Lydia sees that the wine stain that should be on the carpet isn’t there and realises that means the wine wasn’t really wine and the key must be in the bottle. They smash the bottle and yes! it’s in there, Stiles puts the key in and turns.
Going back to the fight with the wolves and assassins, Scott is trying to protect one of the little wolf girls and pounces on one of the assassins, he continues to claw at him and his face begins to change and looks more like Deucalion, with the black demon wolf face, however, staring at the guy's face puts him back into reality and he stops. As this happens all the assassins phones go off, saying that all contracts have been terminated, and all the living assassins leave the warehouse very quickly. I guess the key that Stiles turned worked!
The final scene, Peter is seen with Kate talking about a plan we know nothing about but apparently it is going according to Peter’s plan. What we know about his plan is that he wants to kill Scott McCall to become the Alpha. Finally Teen Wolf is going back to what Peter said in the ending of the mid-season finale in season three, Peter’s plan to become the Alpha!!!!
Ready for tomorrow’s episode? I know I am!!!!
