On the heels of the success of Arrow and the strong buzz for its upcoming offshoot The Flash — both co-created and executive produced by Greg Berlanti — the top producer is looking to transition another popular DC superhero character to the small screen. I’ve learned that Berlanti has teamed with Ali Adler, who worked on his ABC series No Ordinary Family, for a TV series based on Supergirl. Warner Bros. TV, which is behind all DC TV series, will produce with Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Prods.

Is there any chance the CW can nab up this show ?
ReplyDelete[ Claire Holt should play Kara aka Supergirl ]
It should be on CW IMO.
ReplyDeleteHe'll be pretty busy if this goes to series with Arrow and The Flash :)
ReplyDeleteDamn, I really hope Berlanti doesn't burn himself out from all the TV shows he is working on currently. If this and Blindspot get picked up, he will be working on 5 shows at the same time (Arrow, The Flash, The Mysteries of Laura (there's no hope for this one tbh but we'll see), Blindspot, and Supergirl). That's insane! But anyways, I'll be sure to follow news on this when it's developing more. I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteImagine if The Tomorrow People was still going to, he's like Shonda Rhimes but for The CW :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, exactly! XD
ReplyDeleteE! is reporting that CW isn't picking it up, but I don't see how that can be true with Greg Berlanti behind the project. Seems like it would be a shoe-in for The CW, female superhero lead and all. Perhaps the CW doesn't want their schedule to be swamped with DC shows, or there's issues with meshing it with the Arrowverse.
ReplyDeleteBut screw that noise, I want frickin' Supergirl on the frickin' CW!
YES! I just hope they use a suit like the New one
ReplyDeleteAnother DC show integrated into the Arrow-verse? I could dig it
ReplyDeletebut let`s not overdo it, the Flash could still fail
so it's officially picked up? i want it to be laura vandervoort but i don't think she could play her because it would technically count as a spin-off, it has to probably be like arrow same character but different origin story
ReplyDeletethey won't.
ReplyDeletethe classic 'sexist' comments would arise
This will be scrapped as wonder woman was....
ReplyDeleteIt's no longer a rumor, it's offical now, hope that answers your question :)
ReplyDeleteMoney's on Flash becoming a success and being picked up for full season :)
ReplyDeleteHaving seen the pilot I`m not sure I want that
ReplyDeleteHow long before this news is scrapped for another white male tv show pitch, will see.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I wish them well, I for one though will be staying away from anything with Arrow exes or CW in it.
Pilots barely make their mark lol. As the show continues that's when it kicks into over drive lol
ReplyDeleteThat I agree on
ReplyDeleteI still prefer a Suicide Squad show.
ReplyDeleteso now it's official? I will check it out, but I hope it is no Smallville S7
ReplyDeleteI don't know how this would work without Superman. Them being cousins is an important part of the character. If he never shows up they can't effectively explore that, and if or they change that aspect of her character.... well, why bother making a show about Supergirl? They'd be better off introducing her in a Superman movie.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm interested. I read some of the New 52 Supergirl a few years back and it was pretty good. Although, I have always been more of a Power Girl fan myself.
I'll need more information about this before I can get excited.
Claire Holt would be "perfect/awesome" as Kara - El aka SUPERGIRL, but unfortunately she (Claire Holt) has joined the cast of Aquarius. Nobody, 4 NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's really a shame that Berlanti has done so well with DC properties on television, but he couldn't make it work on film. Either he just didn't understand Green Lantern like everyone else on board, or Warner Brothers rushed it.
ReplyDeleteIt seems they have studios lined up, but has the CW actually ordered a pilot yet?
ReplyDeleteThat is... the most poorly designed thing I have ever seen. The image literally consists of a series of arrows pointing at her crotch.
ReplyDeleteLet the sexist comments begin
ReplyDeleteActually I read it is not expected to go to The CW. My money is on FOX, since ABC is going with Marvel, CBS is not really on the super hero business and NBC is just recently trying out comic book heroes with Constantine.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this one is going to cable, but if so I would love either HBO, but it doesn't really fit with their line up
