Sleepy Hollow – This Is War – Advance Preview
22 Sept 2014
Reviews RO Sleepy HollowWhen I first heard of Sleepy Hollow was developed in a TV show, as I’m a big fan of the movie, I was very intrigued and doubtful how they could create a good show. The premise of the show seemed a lit far fetched and it could have easily gone wrong.
But the team of writers really pulled it off and created an amazing show. The greatest thing about Sleepy Hollow is its multi dimensions. It deals with supernatural elements, with plenty of humor and suspense in a fast paced and fascinating storytelling. That’s why Sleepy Hollow quickly became my favorite new show of the past season.
The other great thing in Sleepy Hollow is Ichabod and Abbie’s relationship. Thanks to Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie’s chemistry on screen, their duo has become one the best relationships on TV right now. It could have been a classic buddy cop duo with funny lines, but they really put it on another level, with those fun moments but mostly when they get more emotional. Their special bond is very interesting.
So after nine months, tomorrow we will finally know what happens after the amazing and breathtaking season finale of last year. Ichabod was trapped under ground, Abbie was in purgatory, Katerina was kidnapped by the Horseman of Death, Jenny had a terrible car accident and the captain was sent to jail for a crime he didn’t commit. And all those bad things happened because of Jeremy, aka Ichabod and Katerina’s son, aka The Sin Eater, aka The Horseman of War. That surprise revelation was one the best moment on TV last year. John Noble is such a talented actor, it was a pity not to see him on screen since Fringe ended. I’m so glad to see him in Sleepy Hollow, and very excited to discover his work in this new season. He is the perfect choice to play Jeremy, the Horseman of the War.
For those who feared the second season of Sleepy Hollow wouldn’t be able to keep up with the exciting and surprising storytelling of last year, they can be reassured because the season premiere, “This Is War” will air tomorrow on FOX, is explosive, full of action and twists, and of course, there are some hilarious moments. I'm confident you won't be disappointed.
Here’s a list of what you can expect from “This Is War” :
- The Horseman of War ! Yeah, we will finally see him, in his armor with his sword. I think he is scarier than Death, so it promises a great new season.
- Last season, one of the funniest moments were about Ichabod confronted to our new technology. Expect some new scenes in "This Is War". This time, Ichabod will have to deal with a phone (again, but not to call someone) and Abbie will teach him a new modern tradition. Ichabod's comments are hilarious.
- We will never guess where Jeremy starts the episode. It kind of reminds me of Walter in Fringe.
- A special artifact from Benjamin Franklin will be the center of the episode. Because this artifact can do something very special, and quite useful for the forces of evil and the forces of good, expect both sides to do anything to get it. Exciting !
- The Horsemen of Death is back in Sleepy Hollow, cutting heads as usual.
- Crane will make a surprise revelation about his past. His flashbacks will be fantastic. I really enjoy how the Sleepy Hollow writers are continuing to write their own history with the American History of the Founding Fathers.
- War will deliver Moloch’s final plan to Abbie and Ichabod. It's quite terrifying but as least, we will know what is the big fight of the season.
- Ichabod and Abbie improved their fighting skills during the summer, and they even got new weapons. Ichabod's weapon is the best : a crossbow !
- Jeremy, the Sin Eater will eat someone’s sins. It's not Ichabod's, it's a woman' sins.
- Ichabod will have no choice but to get back to Purgatory, in order to try to stop Moloch’s plan.
- Abbie and Ichabod will start the episode in a very unexpected situation, and place. They’re back to Sleepy Hollow, alive and well but they have no memory of how it happened. And they believe Katerina and Jenny are dead… Of course, they’re not. But that could quickly change. Katerina is at the hands of her former lover, The Horseman of Death, and Jenny survived her car accident only to find her kidnapped, as well.
I’m really excited about this new season of Sleepy Hollow, this show is unique, the first season was perfectly executed, with the fair amount of mysteries, suspense, revelations and humor. It looks like season two will be packed in the same way, and we will get even more episodes (18 this season !), I'm really looking forward this season.
And finally, the quotes game ! Guess from which characters those quotes are :
“I should consider myself punked” / “I’d rather not discuss the past” / “Diligence is the mother of good luck” / “Anything can be tricked into believing a lie” / “War is hell” / “We are survivors, you and I” / “Magnificent” / “This Is War”.
“This Is War” will air tomorrow on FOX. Are you as excited as I am about it ? Hit the comments !

Glad you enjoyed the screener, thanks for the preview.
ReplyDeleteLove this show and your preview got me even more excited -- it has been a long wait.
ReplyDeleteAaaah, so good to know tomorrow night's premiere will have the same sort of spirit last season did. That certainly bodes well for this show's continued success. I'm so glad they're still going to have some of Crane's "Modern world, how does it work?" mentality as well as the creative spin on American history-those were some of the highlights of last season for sure, so I'm all for more of that side of things.
ReplyDeleteMoloch freaks me the hell out, so the idea of War having a "terrifying" plan on his behalf already has me quite nervous for these guys. Ummmmm...eep? I can't even begin to imagine the sort of chaos he'll be bringing this go-round. And I look forward to seeing how Crane and Abbie help rescue Katrina and Jenny, too.
Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode-you've made me that much more excited for tomorrow night.
Thanks. It's such a great chance to have access to those screeners.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Nine months is way too long, but we'll get five more episodes this year :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteMoloch is terrible, his plan for this Apocalypse is very good and very scary (Sleepy Hollow has a special talent at creating scary evil monsters) but I'm confident in our two witnesses to stop him and save us all ;)
And for the American History, it feels like Benjamin Franklin will be an important character this season.
I really can't wait to watch this episode I'm sure this season is going to be even better.
ReplyDeleteit's katrina not katerina, and don't you mean jeremy reminds you of walternate
ReplyDeleteSo excited for Sleepy Hollow i can't begin to tell you! So glad you enjoyed the premiere and i'm also a John Nobel fan.It was difficult not seeing him on my screen when Fringe ended...actually i'm still not over Fox ending Fringe but that's another story, lol!
ReplyDeleteQuotes: I'm not to good with these but here goes
"I should consider myself punked' - Ichabod I can hear Ichabod saying this.
"I rather not discuss the past" - Abbie
"Diligence is the mother of good luck" - Ichabod
"Anything can be tricked into believing a lie" - Henry
"war is hell" ?
"We are survivors, you and I"- Abbie or Ichabod
"Magnificent" - Henry. But honestly i can hear Walter saying that!
"This is war" - Ichabod?
So Romain, did i get any right? Thanks for the preview,i enjoyed reading it!
Sounds promising
ReplyDeleteGreat preview! After 9 months of waiting I kind of lost some enthusiasm, but now I got it back! So really! Thanks for the great preview, now I can't wait for Sleepy Hollow to start!
ReplyDeleteYes it's Katrina, my bad. And, I meant Walter, you'll see why ;)
ReplyDeleteYou got 5 right ! Congrats ! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, the episode is amazing, I can't wait for it to air :)
Only a few hours left to wait :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. It's the episode that gave me up back my enthusiasm for SH ! This show is pure gold
ReplyDeleteFinally got my hands on the season 1 blu-ray last week, and as much fun as it was catching up (after I gave up on the network SH airs on halfway through the season) I don't know when I'll get to see season 2. Last year the network put it in the 11pm timeslot on their 70s/80s endless-marathon-reruns channel, this year they haven't run promos for anything yet (other than a few seconds of Scorpion, which starts here next week). I might have to wait until season 2 is on available on blu-ray...
ReplyDeleteI did better than i thought! And for me i only have 12 more hours before the show starts, yay!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your review!
