Paramount TV continues to mine the company’s feature library, partnering with talent from the movies to adapt them as TV series. The company has teamed with Shooter star Mark Wahlberg for a drama series based on the 2007 conspiracy thriller, which has been set up at TNT. John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening, The Shield) will write the action project, now in development, and will executive produce with Wahlberg and his frequent collaborator Stephen Levinson.

As long as someone gets sniped each episode. I'm in.
ReplyDeletewonder if this is sequel or prequel.........and MW should be main star as he was in Shooter
ReplyDeleteNope, not a big fan of generic thrillers to make it to series. Nothing against Shooter, I liked it but it was a mere action thriller. Each week a new similar thriller stars. Liam Neeson was in 3 movies of that breed this year with dozens of others following suit.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have movies with a more unique genre, style and twist turned to series because they underperformed at the Box Office.
The Tom Cruise led flick Oblivion would certainly be a pretty badass pickfor its unique art style (especially Oblivions minimalistic and yet stunning approach) and rather open ended story (there could still be more space pyramids be showing up at some point)
Of course the Underworld series would make the most sense in case Kate Beckinsale dropped out of the franchise for good. Wether as an anthology series starring Michael Sheen as Lucian who makes his way through the centuries or a sequel series about Eve fighting her mothers war.
The Mummy could serve as a solid set up for an adventure themed series as well, there're barely any Relic Hunter-esque shows out there and Brendan Fraser hasn't been up to a lot as of late. And given todays fantastic CGI standard in TV production that would definitely pose as a great opportunity to reel in an existing fanbase for a fun and actionpacked adventure series (Arnold Vosloo isn't too busy either...neither is John Hannah or Maria Bello...or Luke Ford).
only to name a few shows that could potentially serve as a better set up for a series
Why are so many movies being made into series? I liked the movie, it was entertaining. But a series adaptation seems unnecessary.
