Scorpion - Single Point of Failure - Advance Preview

Scorpion follows up its enjoyable pilot with a much better episode in which we learn a lot more about our characters, and even see an emotional side of Walter.

The case follows the daughter of the Governor of California, who has been ‘biohacked’ with a deadly virus, and Team Scorpion have been called in to help find the perpetrator and save the child.

The case hits quite hard for Walter, and we see some more of his backstory as his sister is introduced. There’s an interesting storyline that runs in the background, and it is good to see more about Walter, as well as adding more depth to the character with him showing some emotions.

Sylvester is superb in this episode, and provides a nice contrast between the seriousness and the humour. Some side-stories involving the other characters are also introduced, though only pursued to a small extent.

My only real issue with the episode is that there is a lot of comic relief that takes away from the tension of a scene, and I don’t think it was necessary. If it was placed better, the episode would probably benefit from it.

Overall, however, I enjoyed this episode. It was a much improved episode from the pilot, and hopefully they’ll continue on with episodes like this throughout the season. Watch Scorpion on CBS, Monday September 29th at 9pm.

  5. Yep, pilot was good but far too OTT. This is much less so, and it works.
