Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but IMHO scenes like this can not be taken seriously. As much as I have seen from the episode yet - which I admit not too much, the 4 minute teaser and this SP - is so over the top, that I think with a healthy dose of self-irony, winking out to the audience would be much more enjoyable. Last season CBS has done the same mistake with Intelligence, that they took themselves too seriously. But I don't argue with the fact that nothing can be liked by everybody and tastes are different.
I liked Intelligence quite a bit (IMHO they killed themselves with a horrible episode as a follow up to the pilot. The whole...my wife he spy plot was just bad.
But I do agree with you. This type of show is essentially, what I call, Bubble Gum TV. And Bubble Gum TV works best when the people making it get that the point it for everyone to have fun.
In real-life, this would probably take place on a long straight stretch of controlled/empty highway in the middle of nowhere, and a highly-trained member of a special forces unit would climb up the lowered wheel into the plane with the laptop strapped to their back and two backup flashdrives in different pockets. I accept the compromise for the sake of drama, and eagerly anticipate this show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm so hyped for this! I really hope it does well, especially since RBS bombed...
ReplyDeleteLOL, this was hilarious, they should keep it as a parody :)
ReplyDeleteThe scene went over very well at comic-con, as did the rest of the pilot. Context. But of course, nothing will be liked by 100% of people.

ReplyDeleteyeah that's true but RBS could jump back its possible
ReplyDeleteIt is too funny using a long usb cable between a Laptop and an aircraft just above stall speed.
ReplyDeleteThat most definitely fits the definition of a high octane scene.

Well, it is from Justin Lin. I'm used to his over the top action stuff.
ReplyDeletepretty cool scene, it looks like this show might need a good bit of disbelief suspending however... I'll be checking it out
ReplyDeleteholy crap that is insane what they're trying to do lol
