About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

If you are new to ratings or still confused, we recommend you read this excellent

  1. Holy sh!t at Mysteries of Laura. And wow at Blackish holding all of Modern Family's audience.

    ReplyDelete
  2. No way! The Mysteries of Laura a winner? To say I'm surprised is an understatement.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Wow NBC!!! What a great start this year!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. not bad for laura but that show sucks

    ReplyDelete
  5. What are you serious, Blackish? Wow, all that great reviews paid off!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Also, The Goldbergs skews younger so it should still have its second highest ratings in its run and good job Mysteries of Laura, SVU and Chicago PD. #WomenCrushWednesday paid off a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Very weird just seeing the numbers and no analysis by Marc. Also, SVU and Laura seem to have the same HH ratings, as do Modern Family and Black-ish. That's a great accomplishment for both new shows.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Black-ish got full retention?! Anf Laura is a winner?! Did not see this coming

    ReplyDelete
  9. Where is Marc usual evaluation of the ratings?

    ReplyDelete
  10. wow, that's great for Black-ish

    ReplyDelete
  11. I was just wondering the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Probably too shocked that NBC won lol.

    ReplyDelete
  13. How did ABC Comedy Wednesday do?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I just checked and Marc is not posting his daily newsletter today because of the Jewish holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Great! Nashville? Not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Did The Goldbergs beat The Middle?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Despite winning the night in HH, ABC or CBS will likely win the night in the demo. Probably ABC with the strong 9pm hour.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maybe NBC is paying the Neilsen households to watch it, lol

    ReplyDelete
  19. FOX is in for a tough year! Holy crap for NBC though after success with the Blacklist and the Voice they are making a lot of good moves lately and becoming a top contender

    ReplyDelete
  20. Banged by Corey StollSeptember 25, 2014 at 2:43 PM

Didn't see that coming for MOL ...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good for Blackish holding Modern Family's audience. Really surprise about MOL with all the negative chatter it was receiving. And I'm curious to see Nashville's demo.

    ReplyDelete
  22. where are you getting your info?

    ReplyDelete
  23. It premiered after Modern Family. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  24. SVU and CPD kicked butt last night. I have a feeling Laura will fall next week. The reviews have been horrible and I thought it sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Give it a few weeks before we start deeming it a success.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It did, but I was expecting it to only retain 70% of its audience, not 100%.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, who knows? Anything is possible these days, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just because you don't like the show doesn't mean it's gonna keep on falling in the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  29. so mystery of laura any good??

    ReplyDelete
  30. Didnt people say it will fall this week also?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yep, they did and surprisingly held well.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i am liking that things are unpredictable this season!

    ReplyDelete
  33. do you have any early numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Banged by Corey StollSeptember 25, 2014 at 2:54 PM

I was expecting MOL to collapse in its own time period, still these numbers surprise me.
And yes the show is getting harsh reviews all around, but the ones who have seen it disn't say it's that bad. Even me, I was sure it was a pretty trashy thing ... anyway, at the end I enjoyed the pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm surprised too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OMG at Mysteries Of Laura and Blackish! Laura really surprised me when I saw those ratings. It's the perfect companion with SVU which also did well. If only Chicago PD kept a little bit more of SVU's audience, they would've had a very sold night. And Blackish.....holding everything of Modern Family OMFG that's a first!!! So happy for the ABC and NBC lineups!

Might I say EVERY broadcast show was trending on Twitter last night. From The Middle to Laura to blackish to Nashville to SVU/CPD to Red Band, Modern Family, Nashville, Big Brother and Survivor. I know it doesn't matter but good job! Matter of fact, Blackish and Big Brother are still trending.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love that its just the Ratings,Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Surprised that Blackish held all of the Modern Family audience.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Red Band Society is DOA.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think ABC possibly won the night in the demo
    Nashville needs to go

    ReplyDelete
  41. I loved seeing Sue Heck & #YearofSue trending last night lol.

    ReplyDelete
  42. People need to wait for the coming weeks before they say the night is a hit ( premiere week is always inflated)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't think Nicole is the only one, many tv critics expected this series to do poorly..and so far they seem to be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes. Goldbergs built on the middle. Mid 2s to high 2s. All subject to change.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It might fall a little, as a lot of shows do, but it's gotten sampled and it had to lead off the night against a lot of other solid premieres. So far, it's doing better than anyone could have expected.
Also, and perhaps more importantly, off the top of my head, I bet these numbers are far above anything else NBC put in the slot in recent years. Up is up, and if NBC sees yet another time slot having increased ratings, it has to be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. This and Forever are the big surprises of the season so far.

    ReplyDelete
  47. NBC is doing great again this year and Fox is doing horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  48. So far. Lets see what happens in a few weeks its still to early to tell.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thank You!! People seem to forget ratings are always inflated the first week or two of the season

    ReplyDelete
  50. I am surprised Black-ish managed to keep Modern Family's audience , I thought it was rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Nashville should have done better.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Prayer Circles are for it this week for a renewal.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Poor Red Band Society :(

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's almost as if audiences don't find dying children entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Mysteries of Laura was thrashed by the critics while Forever was basically seen as just a bland type of show.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ouch FOX, do you want a hug? *opens arm*

    ReplyDelete
  57. Saw that coming.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Why? MF is in it's 6th Season.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Blackish did good. The Goldbergs did close enough to The Middle. If ABC nurtures this lineup, it could really be a solid comedy block.

    ReplyDelete
  60. LOL. I actually quite enjoyed (most of) last night's episode... Should I be worried? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Nashvilles safe for syndication

    ReplyDelete
  62. Most comedies that air MF have not been successful when they didn't have MF around to air before them (Mr. Sunshine, Happy Endings, Apt 23, How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of your life, SFN, Mixology) Cougar Town held well in Season 1 but not in season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  63. looks like nashville didn't do too bad

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, it's dead and gone.

    ReplyDelete
  65. less the dying part, more the 'annoying child actors' part

    ReplyDelete
  66. "The Mysteries Of Laura" is the new "Revenge".

    ReplyDelete
  67. A 3.3 out of a 3.7 for black.ish... nice

    ReplyDelete
  68. Almost 10m viewers and only a 1.5 ratings? TMoL is the next Harry's Law.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Banged by Corey StollSeptember 25, 2014 at 4:16 PM

    Amazing for Goldbergs!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Nice for The Goldbergs! Not so good for Modern Family, its still strong but doesn't get 5s like a couple years ago. Good start for Blackish, even though I won't watch it.
Monday probably will be the only day where Fox has decent ratings :(

    ReplyDelete
  71. Poor FOX.
    Black-ish did pretty good
    great for the Goldbergs
The Mysteries of Laura will probably fall next week

    ReplyDelete
  72. Looks like ABC has finally succeeded with a good lead out for Moder Family. Their family comedy block could work for years to come.

Pretty good for SVU and Chicago PD.

Poor RBS, it will definitely be pulled with those ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ah! I wasn't asking about the show
My question was 'Should I be worried that I found dying children entertaining?' ;)

  75. Damn it Red Band! Well thats 1/4 of the new shows I was looking forward to gone...

How the hell did Black-ish do that good!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Winners: The Goldbergs, Black-ish, Survivor, Big Brother, Penn and Teller

Did well: Modern Family, Law and Order SVU, Chicago PD

    Somehow disappointing: The Middle

Better than expectations but still not well: The Mysteries of Laura

Losers: Hell's Kitchen, Red Band Society, Nashville

    ReplyDelete
  77. TMOL kind of already fell. Last week was 2.1 (adjusted down to 2.0 if I remember correctly), now it's 1.5... It's a 25% dip, it's not good...

    ReplyDelete
  78. 2.1 is great for a 16 year old show.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I wondering the same thing, the pilot was terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I know it doesnt mean anything but MOL actually rose from 8 - 8 :30 PM

    ReplyDelete
  81. Banged by Corey StollSeptember 25, 2014 at 4:26 PM

Just 1.5 for MOL? Anyway that's always been a difficult timeperiod for NBC. let's see what happens in week 3 and 4 of Laura in its own timeperiod, facing regular competition from ABC comedies.

    ReplyDelete
  82. SVU also had the biggest audience since January 5, 2011 (season 12).

    ReplyDelete
  83. I think that MF and The Middle particularly should have done a bit better but their lead-outs did very well. Nashville is the clear weak link in that lineup for ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I didn't even watch the pilot, the trailer looked awful.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yep, it looked awful to me from the trailer, but I had to watch all the screeners I got, and I was right. I was awful.

    ReplyDelete
  86. NBC and ABC are doing great this season so far. Feeling bad for FOX :(

    ReplyDelete
  87. The Goldbergs beat its lead-in in the demo, that's quite good. The Black-ish has strong numbers but can't help Nashville. The Mysteries of Laura skews old, quite a big audience but only a 1.5 in the demo. SVU has its most-watched episode since January 5, 2011. Fox is doing bad.

    ReplyDelete
  88. FOX might get cancelled this season!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Great for the ABC comedies , Fox is having a really bad season already.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Bye RBS i will enjoy you while you last!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Love the Black-ish ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Poor RBS :(
Wonder if FOX will pull the plug and move something else into it's timeslot. (Wayward Pines perhaps?)

    ReplyDelete
  93. look at the demo 1.0
this is quite becoming like cw that too at an alarming rate
we probably should find a better word to say that it took a nose dive

    ReplyDelete
  94. and we all know how it ended up #bearchow

    ReplyDelete
  95. Ah, Brad is at it again. Going around and doing nothing but saying negative things and mocking failing shows. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Fault in our stars- a derivative book that inspired a derivative movie... and both were very successful.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Don't forget that Harry's Law was one of NBC's highest rated shows; but had a similar demo.

    ReplyDelete
  98. My only real problem is those kids need to be dialed down a notch.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Ya! People are jumping the gun.Wait until everything premieres and settle in before the celebrating.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Well the second episode they are much dialed down than the first one where they were out of control the full episode. Showing them this way is better and the show is much improved.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Cool. I DVR'd it; but haven't yet watched.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yes! i love "About a boy". this show has a good ratings too. :)
