  1. I stopped watching half way through. It didn't grab me and some of the casting was weird, like that Walter dude. I just wasn't feeling it with him.

  2. Okay, I have very mixed feelings about the pilot and the show. First off, I like how this show is fast paced and uplifting in a way. In addition to that, I really liked the chemistry between Walter and Paige. They sort of clicked from the beginning especially when it came to Ralph and his dis-functionality. However, everything else is a blob for me. The number one thing that irked me was the dialogue. I am 15 years old who is caught up in the tech world but I did not understand half of the script and I'm pretty sure everyone else, younger or older than me, was scratching their heads as well. The way I see it, a TV show doesn't have to sound Einstein smart to be smart. Their tech talk just got way over the top and it really bothered me. Second, I just find the rest of the crew to be annoying in a way. I liked the way Sylvester was portrayed but the other two were just not that great. I just didn't have the vibe for them. And lastly, what's next? This plot was far fetched, how far will the producers go? How will Paige fit along with the team? How will Ralph play a role in the show? I just didn't feel satisfied at the way this pilot went. I'll give a second chance next week but if I don't approve it, I'm not going to tune it for it.

  4. gave it an ok... the pacing was definitely fast paced and kept the feel exciting, but I found it hard to connect to the show as so much of it was so hard to believe even though I was giving it a fair amount of disbelief suspension: the 100mph street race thru LA was ridiculous and the agent crashing into that guy at 100mph would've certainly at the very least seriously injured himself or the other driver - and the whole "hardwire info transfer" from plane to car at 200 mph with a guy hanging on the landing gear.... really?, and of course the whole situation with 56 planes in a holding pattern (reminds me of the Die Hard 2 scenario a little) and we're going to have to shoot them down was a big stretch to begin with... I was really hoping to really like it, so to that end I was disappointed, but will give it a couple more eps to see if it gets better for me or not

  5. I was so looking forward to this show and I wasn't disappointed. Yes it had some issues and it wasn't that wOw but it has a solid core and so many space to develop. Katharina McPhee blew me away her performance was brilliant.
The car chase was a bit over done and unrealistic, but emotional and chemistry wise the show was really good.

  6. loved it, the backstory on o'brien was more heartbreaking than i thought and the chemistry between him and paige was amazing so yeah i loved it

  7. Really enjoyed it when I watched it months ago, as I've said multiple it's my favorite pilot of the new season. However, I really hope they keep the future episode grounded.

  8. Really Liked it a lot

  9. Really enjoyed the pilot episode, it started off a bit weird what with the whole break up scene then the group in the warehouse but once the actual plot kicked in I started to get more interested.

  10. Oddly I thought the audio was a big issue for the show. The characters' voices were soft and quiet - too quiet for the excitement that was supposed to be generated. I don't know why their voices were so low. It was partly an audio problem and partly a problem of them not having enough energy for the scenes. They really needed to pump it up a little more for what they were trying to accomplish with all the fast-paced action scenes. Also the casting of the team wasn't great for me, especially Happy. These characters need to be grab your attention more. I like the concept of the show but so far it's not working. I hope it improves.

  11. <my kind of show!
Love the team, Paige and her smart son Ralph are a good add on.
Knowing this is based on true story of Walter O'Brien who works on a international field is nice.
I wasn't bothered by the tech talk, I understood all of it, even as an amateur.

  12. Not so sure about the audio. Screener that I had was quite loud, so not sure as to why that is. I'll watch the final version later and see.

  13. lol I tried to put < in front of my comment and this what happened.

My kind show! love the team, Paige and he smart son Ralph are a good add on.

  14. See what you think when you watch the final version. (You can never tell with screeners.) When I watched it live, I kept thinking how odd it was.

  15. Ha ha - very Scorpion/computer genius way to write your thoughts. Lol. Even if it was an accident, it was appropriate to the post! Love it. :) (I also liked Paige and Ralph and thought they were a nice addition.)

  16. I thought it was underwhelming and generic. None of the characters stood out to me, so this is probably the last episode I'll watch.

  17. Watched this a few months back and was instantly put off. CBS turned Big Bang Theory into a procedural... generic, unexciting characters (and some pretty lackluster actors, too), a too-wild plot, and nothing to really ground the show. Won't be tuning in again, though I fear the ratings for the pilot are going to be quite good.

  18. Voted Awesome for this.
For a pilot, it did its job and drew me in. Introduced the cast well and showcased each of the characters abilities. Paige and Walter had a really good vibe going and I can see that there chemistry will really develop over the season and it had super fast pacing.
Although unrealistic, it held my attention and did what a TV show should do, entertain me.

  19. I really liked this pilot especially the group of (ab)normal people with special gifts! I see a lot of people here who cannot connect with them and I can understand! but I think that is the idea, in real life people with such gifts are hard to understand and very difficult to connect with because they work on a different level of understanding. I am looking forward to next week!

  20. Yay for me. Loved it! Great silly show for Mondays.

  21. I absolutely loved that! I'm actually gonna be so disappointed if this is cancelled :( *anxiously waiting ratings release*

  22. I didn't like the casting choices..felt weird to me.

  23. I liked it. I'll see where it goes in the next couple of episodes. The promo for Episode 2 looks interesting. Nice to see Alimi Ballard (Numb3rs) on my screen again even if it was just a guest spot.

  24. I didn't have a problem with the audio. There voices were clear and except for a few moments here and there i had no problem hearing them or their voices being too low..

Do you have cable by chance? Two years ago Time Warner was having audio problems so of course we did. Whenever i watched anything on FOX the audio would drop in and out. Could be something similar?

  25. I expected the show to be worse than it actually was. Maybe I'll watch it during the holidays if its still around...

  26. So, i have mixed feeling about this one. While i find it good that everything is so fast, it was a little too much. Action is one thing but this was a little over the head. Walter is interesting as such as Ralph. I hope they will become good friends. As for the rest, I really don't know. Paige and walter had great chemistry and I always in for a ship but i don't know but she somehow seemed on the wrong place. I know why she is on the team and so but in my eyes she's just there because they need a pairing. However, the only thing that really bugs me is the technic stuff. As I'm not american it was extra hard, but it seems like it was a little too difficult for the average person to understand.

At this point I actually don't know how this should work for seasons, but I will get it a chance and look for some weeks before decide if i will continue to watch.

  27. I'm going to tune in for the next episode and see how it goes. If nothing else, the pilot was enjoyable.

  28. I really enjoyed this. It felt like a high stakes movie most of the time and I really liked the characters. Damn you CBS for making me stick with another procedural but this one is a keeper for me. Thanks to everyone who recommended it to me throughout the summer, it was worth changing my mind and check it out.

  30. Ok, now that's weird. Look, I'm Brazilian and English is not my first language, although I'm fluent in it, and I actually got a lot of the dialogue. I won't go too far as to say I knew or know every single tech word they used, but just by the general context I can tell you I got the meaning of every scene. I really don't think is too tech speak, and, let's be real, if they "dull it down" we would have a lot of people saying that they can't be geniuses if they don't have the vocabulary that back it up. I mean, I understand what they were talking a zillion times better than half of the second episode of BBT the same night, and they are the most popular comedy right now, so the tech speak really shouldn't be a problem. Just my little opinion

  31. Agreed, there was a lack of chemistry of the actors overall....they just seemed random. Also the main guy irks me....

    ReplyDelete
  32. They did seem random! And the main guy needs to grab your attention more!

  33. My DVR had an error. Nothing recorded and CBS hasn't made the ep available online yet.

  34. Hmm that's interesting. I have cable through Xfinity. It's possible, I guess. I'm not sure. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm curious to see if it does it next week.

  35. Awesome! Favorite Pilot of the season so far. Very fun and quick dialogue, some nice emotional moments, what what fun well filmed car scenes! I thought the cast felt natural, which is rare. Usually takes a few episodes for things to feel that in sync! I know not every episode can be like this one, but if even half of them are, I think I'll really love this show!

  36. Love your post!! XD

  37. I get the feeling it "could" morph into a more serialized show--I see a lot of potential for character development and some mythology...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I didn't understand all of the jargon. but visually I felt like I could make sense out of it. I knew the point of what they were doing, even though I may not understand the specifics of it. Granted I'm pretty sure there will be fictional aspects to the tech to, so I think it's something that people will just have to role with.

  39. they supposed to be weird..

  40. Maybe it's too many years of watching shows that overload on tecnobabble (frequently with lots of made up technobabble. I'm thinking Star Trek Next Gen) that their technobabble just floated right through my head. Medical shows like Grey's Anatomy are where I've got no clue what they're talking about so my brain just says 'illness' and I move on. I don't remember any of the tecnobabble in this show. It didn't seem important to following what was going on with the story. :-)

I agree with you completely about the crew. Hopefully the actors had some time to gel (and the writers to get a good handle on the characters) between the pilot and the start of full production. The only one who made any headway with me was the guy with the hat who played the ex thief. Paige I loved right off the bat. I liked that she was in no way intimidated by the "genius" in the room. She's the character that gets me to watch the second episode.

There's a short on the CBS site that's an interview with the man the show is inspired by. Apparently the base situation really happened. I'd bet money that dropping the cable from the plane to upload the backup...was the TV stretch...but that kind of stuff is what make it escapism tv.

  41. I liked the pilot enough to keep watching. Good premise, fast-paced, and has great stunt coordination. The characters are decent and have potential. I generally find tech-speak interesting. It's so nice not to get spoon-fed like many other shows do. I thought that Katharine McPhee and Robert Patrick were the strongest in terms of character conceptualization, acting, writing, and just more interesting than the rest.

  42. Only just seen this (or the first 10 minutes anyway which as more than enough). I found it amazingly unoriginal and cliched. Not a show for me.
