  1. Oh thank God Jamie showed up just in time. And whoa at Claire and Frank somehow hearing each other across time and space.

  3. In one word, Amazing! That is how you do a mid season finale!

  4. Wow! They can do no wrong with this show, every episode has captured my attention and I will like usual probably rewatch these episodes again. April is so far away but I really liked this episode. The Craighead Na Dun scene was really cool.

Ronald D. Moore has done a stellar job and I'm sure we're going to be in for a treat come September. Once again Bear McCreary does a brilliant score, still waiting for a soundtrack :)

  5. Wow! again another great episode ! Loved the fact that they showed Frank's side which they don't in the book. Jamie takes his duties towards protecting Claire very seriously and when he fails he feels really bad ! I really like that side of Jamie. And Claire keeps getting in trouble (aka raped) ! lol Poor her, not an easy time for women back then. Also, I have to say the music score is amazing !! Now I have to wrap my head around the fact that the next episode I'll be days away from turning 25 :/ .... So far away for a midseason break

  6. Fickle Finger of Fate....The scene at Craig Na Dun was beautiful. How evil of the Red Coats to show up *just* before she can touch the stones. I didn't think she'd get back but I thought it would be because the time of year was wrong. But OH! Those darned Red Coats. I love it when the villain is just as smart as the good guy. Wily of Black Jack to test Claire. Also loved the indication that even though Frank is a better man, that iron hardcore streak that was a major element of Black Jack's personality still exists in Frank. I can't help but hope that he holds onto the fact that he heard Claire's voice. Anyway, as usual, awesome episode.

  7. How could anyone not Love it!?!

  8. I LOVED wee Roger. And I like that he overhears Mrs. Graham explaining the possibility of Craig Na Dun. It builds a whole other dimension for how he responds in the next book.

Rupert and Angus are a total riot.

  9. I thinks it's also a testament to the writing staff and Diana herself that Claire is not just the epitome of a strong female presence, but that she's fallible. She isn't perfect, she's headstrong, and sometimes suffers from tunnel vision... but that's ok.

The difference in the tv show is that they also tone down Jamie's manly perfection. In the books, he's every woman's dream man. Not to say I didn't enjoy that, but I'd like to see how he grows into that man. I think that struggle and his less than stellar performance as the ultimate male protagonist shows just how young and inexperienced Jamie is when having to be responsible for someone other than himself.

I think that's why Moore chose to cut out the scene from the wedding night where Jamie [spoiler] talks about the French army. To keep the audience's focus on his development and not the end game.

  10. The thing is, if I remember correctly, most of it was in the books, it was just stuff which got mentioned in passing later on. Since the first books were written from Claire's perspective only, there is a lot the reader just learned about through her. Now we get to see it when it happened.

  11. To be honest, I am starting to like the series more than the book because it has less the "see, there is this hulky Highlander who is still a virgin and a total romantic at heart, and btw, he is also educated and well-travelled" vibe. I am sure all this will come up sooner or later, but it was a good decision to emphasis Jamie's inexperience in certain matters until this point.

  12. Just as Claire was almost raped (again) I thought 'would she allow this rape to happen as she loves her husband and this sh*t is his ancestor so she can't really kill him, just in case her husband no longer exist?' Thanks show for that dilemma.

  13. Its going to be a long long break! But that is how it is with these cable shows.

  14. I agree with you. The subtle approach Moore is taking makes me like the show more and more. I'm a fan of the books, but the show allows me to enjoy them in a completely different way and I love it.

When Jamie and Claire are having sex in the field, the God line is a quote from the book, but it's more in the vain of bodice-ripping lit. In the show, however, they poke fun at themselves but still stay true to the story. I like that about the show, that they don't hit the viewer over the head with all the sex from the book, or all the fantasies of Jamie [as you so aptly described him].

Because the books are [mostly] narrated by Claire, it's at a slight disadvantage. The show has done an amazing job of developing all the secondary characters and giving (as small as they might be) their own story lines. That's what makes me appreciate the show a bit more than the books.

  15. Awesome mid season finale!

I can't believe how much this show has blown me away! Between the scenery, the dialogue, the story line, and the wardrobe, I'am in awe of this show. A perfect ending to the first half of the season.

It's REALLY hard to choose between Frank or Jamie for Claire. On one end, I surprisingly feel bad for Frank during this time and on the other end, I'am absolutely ecstatic that Claire and Jamie are finally together. Frank's pain and frustration at Craigh na Dun was pretty tragic and when Claire was running towards the Craigh na Dun stones and it paralleled back and forth with Frank screaming her name as she hears him, sent chills down my spine. A brilliant scene! But I also believe Claire and Jamie are absolutely perfect and Claire should never go back to 1945. Should be interesting to see what her decision will be in the future episodes.

Angus teaching Claire on how to kill someone with a knife was a really fun scene to watch. I loved how much she was laughing and smiling throughout the whole lesson as everyone is watching her. Great scene! But the scene after she was almost raped by a British deserter was absolutely horrifying. She was shaking from head to toe! This is going to change her for the rest of her life. Poor Claire :(

Jack Randall sank to a new low tonight. He was absolutely despicable towards Claire and that final shot of Jaime at the window was so badass. "I'll thank you to take your hands off my wife" and point a gun at Randall. HELL YES! That was so damn awesome. Waiting 6 months is going to be hell.

  16. "It's REALLY hard to choose between Frank or Jamie for Claire." I think that's something the television format added to the story. Because the books are from Claire's POV we get the equivalent of the pilot to get to know Frank. Just a few chapters. From the reader is immersed in discovering Jamie. I think one of the reasons several people were stating that there wasn't enough Jamie (I'd wager odds that most of them were readers of the books) in the first 5 or 6 episodes is because the books approach built a fairly strong friendship before the wedding. In retrospect, this approach has enriched the story for me. Frank is on my mind as well. I'm aware of his pain and his loss where as, when I read the book, it was an occasional thought because I was so busy falling in love with Jamie too.

I loved Black Jack's reaction to seeing Jamie. I felt like his next line was going to be something like 'Hot Damn, this is just awesome!" LOL

And not surprisingly.. totally worth it! Really looking forward for the rest and I might consider reading the books.
