I really wish there had been more focus on Alicia in the season premiere! Though I like Cary a lot, for a premiere, the plot was too much about him - and also came out of left field. They had so many promising angles to work with from the end of last season and instead they came up with something new? I was disappointed with the episode. I am excited to see Taye Diggs joining the cast. I'm intrigued.
Cary being arrested definitely made my jaw drop and scream for a long period of time. I originally thought that he was getting mugged so when I saw the cops were arresting him, I yelled "WHAT IS HAPPENING?!". This show never ceases to surprise me and tonight's episode was no exception. It will be interesting to see if he really did tell Bishop's dealers how to escape arrest.
Finn Polmar and Alicia going head to head in the court for a moment there was amazing. I like that even though they were against each other in the Cary case, they still manage to respect one another and have an awesome friendship.
Still hoping that Alicia runs for State's Attorney and Diane joins Florrick/Agos to become Florrick/Agos/Lockhart! Could you imagine how powerful their firm would be? Insane.
Overall, this premiere had it's fair share of jaw dropping moments and made me praise the show's writing even more. The King's are one of the greats.
This show has jumped the shark for shock and awe. Why do the Kings get a pass for writing nonsense? There is no way that Cary is arrested and in jail without Lockhart Gardner staff members knowing about it in this internet/social media age. Even before the internet, people who work in law enforcement would call other people to gossip about who has been arrested especially a former ASA. My friends in the law enforcement community - police, defense attorneys, state's attorneys, assistances, etc. would call to tell me of breaking news of arrests.
How is the governor's wife law partner arrested without any informing the governor and his chief of staff (Eli)? The media would be all over this story.
The jail scenes were ridiculous and unbelievable - knife on the table (there are cameras in jails), conversations within hearing distance to guards, etc.
Also all these wealthy high powered folks and they can't come up with bail for a friend? Loan against a house, retirement account or some asset? Any idiot knows you can't just show up with such a large amount of bail money without stating where you got it.
The stupid no panty storyline with the intern was beyond silly. I could go on with more but I'll refrain. This is not a good start to the new season.
It's quite obvious why they introduced this storyline. If you've seen the look Alicia gave Castro at the end. It served to convince her to run for SA and to implement a change.
Holy hell that was an incredible season premiere. I did not expect that storyline for Cary but it was done brillantly and I loved that it wasn't all neatly sorted by the end. Cary could be in trouble for a long long time.
I also like how it brings several characters and plotlines together and hopefully gives Kalinda, Cary and others some great storylines.
The consequences of having Bishop as a client have finally hit and they have hit damn hard.
I can't say I like the Cary plot a lot, mostly because I am bit tired of the "major villain against our company" plot. Last year was the NSA and LG, this years the DA and possible LG.
But if they use this plot to get rid of Bishop that would be great.
I would also love for Robyn to stay with FA and not leave because Diane will bring Khalinda with her.
In jails there are always knives that make ppl "hit on bars". Plus, dont be so sure there are cameras everywhere or in the right angle to observe everything. Who would pay for this?
I think you did not watch this show carefully. He was held incommunicado for 10 hours. So there was no way for anyone to be informed. He was shuttled around too. So he was lucky for Kalinda to locate him. So he was held in general holding so there would be no way any twitter or such would be created.
Nonsense, some administrative person would have talked because Cary is not a random person arrested. He is a former freaking ASA and the governor's wife law partner. Get real.
Really and how would someone in a empty police station know that? You are assuming knowledge as a viewer which is not present to anyone looking at him.
I like the season premiere!!! Would love to see Palomar and Alicia together, but not know. Slowly!!! and I really happy they gave some real story to Cary!
I tuned in mostly to check out Kelli Giddish/Sophia but I liked the entire episode a whole lot. I'm a fan of both Cary and Kalinda but not them as a couple. Kalinda & Sophia has amazing chemistry, I wish Kelli could do more guest spots on TGW. The writers on TGW seems to appreciate her as well. Also looking forward to seeing Taye, now that's made for TV material on many levels :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteWow, what a way to kick off the new season!

That was really not what i expected - brilliant but not at all what thought would happen.

Good thing the show's ending soon, this strained the bounds of reality.

I thought a lot of it seemed really unbelievable, too. And the no-panties intern story was definitely beyond silly.
ReplyDeleteMethinks - Cary's intentions will be open for interpretation once we hear the recording.
ReplyDeleteSo glad this show is back!

And I love Alan Cummings :)
