I love this show a lot, including its consistent cliff-hanger endings, but this "Love Story" episode was very intense and, in my opinion, had hands-down the most greulling cliff-hanger ending yet. I really, really hope Max isn't dead or in some sort of irreversible coma/vegetative state... That would render me and probably many other viewers crestfallen and confused as to why they would rid of one of the main characters in the first season. If the Max character were to die or no longer be apart of the story, then that would lead people to believe that the writers might be a little hasty with their decisions for the show, and could very well become inclined to rid of or kill off other beloved characters, which would be very disappointing. But, of course, it's still way too soon to jump to any conclusions about the fate of any character, so I suppose we'll have to just wait and see, as per any decent series.
Can we all agree now that Crash is the WORST. If he doesn't end up in jail for this I may have to quit this show. It's sad because I was totally on Team Crash up until he was about to rob (and then shot) Max...this kid sucks. Taylor was really harsh but totally justified. Carter has been so selfish this whole time and I gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking she was just going through a rough and confusing time but COME ON KID. it's not all about her and she needs to stop thinking this is Carters world and she's the only one dealing with this crazy situation. There are other people involved here and Max getting shot was just another consequence of her immature and selfish actions. Max is one of my favorite characters, I really hope he makes it. He would be a horrible loss to the show and i'm pretty sure Grant and Taylor will have a really hard time forgiving their sister if he doesn't.
Crash having a gun would be enough to violate the deal that Elizabeth set up with the court. So Crash at a minimum should go to jail for the full amount of what would have been the drug charge (5 years?). Which is just the start of all the potential charges that he could face, such as attempted robbery, reckless endangerment or attempted manslaughter for shooting Max. Pretty sure Crash wont be in season 2 and hopefully Bird wont be in season 2 as well because both of those characters just dont work IMO, the show would be better off moving on from them.
Agree with all of it. I think Max will survive, it is television after all ... If he dies, it would alter the relationship between all of them so profoundly that it would be more than these teenage characters could handle.
Totally agree. When Elizabeth put out the Amber alert the first thing I said was "there goes his probation" at this point I think he needs to go to jail. And I totally agree with you about Bird. she is the worst friend ever. I know they tried to make us sympathize with her about the absentee parents and the rape thing but it totally didn't work. Bird should go to boarding school (or where ever they send useless characters) and Crash should go straight to jail. I would agree with you about the Max not dieing because it's tv, 5 years ago. TV shows are becoming more and more bold killing off characters these days for the sake of "drama" and because it's tv the teens will find a way to weather that storm. But because I love Max to bits, he needs to LIVE!

True that television has changed. But if they want to be realistic then they cannot downplay the immense impact of Max death - if it really would happen it would cover a whole season. Finding Carter is not a survival/scifi show where they have to kill of cast members on a regular basis just to be taken seriously. So I keep my fingers crossed that I am right and Max lives.
Bird doesnt have to go to boarding school, Carter can just decide that she no longer wants to be friends with someone who allowed her to take the blame for a stolen necklace. Gabe and Ofe can both decide to bail on Bird as well and the audience never has to see her again.
I'm really pleased with this show and the evolutions of the characters.
I must say my favorite character and the one who changed the most is Elisabeth. She passed from the woman full of revenge and wanting her daughter being her 3yo daughter. To a woman who "forgive" to her child kidnapper and who accepted this child how she was. She does her best to be close to Carter, and praised/pay attention de Taylor and Grant too. I really think she is a good mother who wants the best for her children, and I'm happy to see Carter and her being closer. Today Carter/Elisabeth scene at the hospital was very good. I'm hoping for more of this.
Crash caracter is the typical bad boy who want to be saved by someone and this person happen to be Carter, still he doesn't want to change. As much I don't like him, I still prefer him over Bird.
Taylor really changed too in 10 episode, now she says her emotions, and what she did says in today episode is harsh but not that false.
They're definitely upping the intensity level with each episode as of late - this one was exhausting to even watch with how much was going on and the emotional heaviness that was constantly present. This show does tension really well, and this entire episode was a great example...the cliff-hanger is literally killing me right now
The scene in the hospital waiting room where the Wilson's are all wait for an update was so heavy and I really liked the choice of music ("The After You" by Miakoda) - such a somber song that really intensified the mood. I can't wait until next week's episode, this is by far the best dramatic show MTV has had in years.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteTaylor was mean but she was right to call out Carter on her actions. Poor Max - I hope he survives.

ReplyDeleteHit the nail on the head with this one. Crash makes me cringe!

Carter is a serious bratt! Someone needs to slap her. I am soo over her petulant nature.

Am I the only one that noticed that MTV said Max's KILLER not shooter after the show aired?
