  3. This episode managed to touch me on so many levels, I wish I had paid attention to the spoilers, I was holding on hopeing it wasn't true, but oh my goodness did I take it hard seeing Shay die, and Severide when he was watching the tape, I cried right along with him, Shay will be missed, the new paramedic she looks like Shay, but they'll only be one Leslie Shay, yep that hour of tv was awesome!!!!!!

  4. Such a heartbreaking episode. The scene with Dawson talking about switching places with Shay was extremely sad and Monica did fantastic. The last scene with Severide was also fantastic and had me in tears. Great episode, but I'm extremely sad to see Shay go.

  5. I guess by tonight's ep everyone guessed it was gonna be Shay but I still held out hope. I love her story with Serveride so much. It is so hard to find a friendship like that these days. Do we know if the actress wanted to leave the show?

  6. So sad to see Shay leave. She was one of my favorite characters on the show. I'm assuming it was the actress' choice? I just can't see the producers/writers killing her off unless they had no choice. I would also have preferred if they hadn't tried to replace her with a Shay 2.0.

  7. Very strong episode. Cried almost the hole episode! Bye Shay, you were great!

  8. It broke my heart that Shay was killed off she was a fun character, had great relationships with Dawson & Severide ( 1 of the few relationships on tv that couldnt develop into a love story) and I believe that her character could grow more on the show, but it made a great episode and it will bring the house more together.

  9. Omg this episode was so completely heart breaking. I knew it was probably going to be Shay but was holding out hope it might not be but dammit it just got to me so much. I loved her character so much and was great having such a strong lesbian character on TV. Watching Dawson break down with her survivors guilt was gut wrenching, I just wanted to reach in the TV and hug her. I wonder if it's deliberate that the EMT is like a Shay clone.

  10. I'm not going to watch this episode. I've been cruising the social medias and know what happen. That's it for me. Don't need to see my favorite character die and I won't watch Fire no more. Replacing her with a Shay 2.0 this fast seems ridiculous and somewhat a slap in the face to the Shay fans.
I won't keep writing crap about the show though. I'll try n respect those of you who are still fans of the show. Now the only Dick show I've got left is SVU and that one seems to be going down the drain too but I'm still hopeful the writers will get back to real SVU cases and leave that baby drama behind for the rest of the new season.

  12. She never wanted to leave, she was told by showrunners they wouldn't renew her contract > http://www.tvguide.com/News/Chicago-Fire-Death-Postmortem-Matt-Olmstead-1087486.aspx

  13. Very emotional, heartbreaking episode. Goodbye Shay, you'll never be forgotten. This was one of the show's powerful episodes in the series. Great job to Dawson (Monica) and Severide (Taylor), their emotions on screen felt so real and genuine. It was like I felt their pain and grief.

Great to have the show back, can't wait till next week.

  14. #RIPShay First Time, I've cried during Chicago Fire. If this is an indicator, Parenthood's final season premiere will be even more sadder especially with Amber dealing with a complicated situation.

  15. Damn, that's a bummer I gets they thought she had no more stories left to tell, but I know we all can beg to differ!!!

  16. I'm glad ther's another show I can cross out on my wtching list. They are too many anyway.

  17. I would respect Olmstead more if he just told the truth that they had no idea what to do with Shay's character. Now he makes it look like the writers were extra ballsy with this decision when it just was lazy writing.

  18. So sad that Shay was killed off, I loved her - her character was better than Dawson.
Sad episode but for me it was kinda boring and dull - expected so much more after 2 great seasons!!! Dissapointed with the direction they went and the execution of it!!!

  19. bring her back
    it's not too late
authors can easily manage a way back for shay
brain damage - her father took her to europe - nobodu knows she was still alive even if in deep coma... or amnesia...
at the end of the season she finally heals and she comes back...
    BRING HER BACK

  20. Definitely lazy writing since Dead Lesbian is one of the biggest tropes on tv

  21. Why did they have to go and kill one of the most popular and strong characters of the show, did they even care that it would be fan backlash, just crazy to me I don't get it at all:(

  22. MAYBE WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ... VIEWERS OF CRIMINAL MINDS WERE ABLE TO BRING JJ BACK EVEN IF THE WRITERS HAD WRITTEN HER OFF.... THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN STILL DO..I'M NOT GIVING UP ON SHAY

  23. I'm really frustrated by the decision to kill off Shay. It's such laziness by the writers and I hate that they seem to be heading down the road of so many first responder shows that have come before by focusing too much on romantic relationships rather than coming up with more creative storylines for the ensemble. Not to mention this is the third female character they have killed off in just over two seasons! It seems to me the writers just got bored of trying to write for Shay and decided killing her off would be easier. Probably a writers' room full of straight males. I will really miss her, especially her friendship with Severide, her sunniness, and her calling out people on their BS.

  24. I hate that they made her leave :( It is so sad!

  25. Ok...whole summer i had hope that they won't kill her but they did. I hate that it was their idea and not situation where Lauren wanted out but I honestly don't think we should stop watching this, because unfortunately death of Shay brings whole new big list of stories to tell. After they killed of Lexie on GA I've said that I'll stop watching but i couldn't. And they manage it really well those flashbacks and Severide watching contract I wanted to jump in to screen and hug him :(

  26. I am not at all happy about Shay! She's my favourite character! I hope Gabby calls off the transfer, I don't think I can handle the extra strain of the idiots the that house!

  27. LOVED this ep!! While I'm not a crier, I almost shed a tear at Dawson's performance at the end! Well done!! I did like the Shay character, I liked the chemistry between her and many of the others but I think the writers were right in her being the most effective to kill off. It's sad to see her go, but she's not a deal breaker for me and I'm intrigued by the story possibilities that may come of this. Well done. Best ep of the series by far!! (except the flashbacks...not a fan of too many...)

  28. The half hour numbers don't look that good. 2.9 in the first half and 2.4 in the second. 1.5 million switched off after the first half hour. While it may be too early to tell but killing off a fan favourite doesn't do the show well ratings wise.

  29. Shocked they killed shay.I was fond of her character & her and severide's friendship was very uniquely represented! The most tragic moment came when gabby broke down in the therapist's room.Very emotional and tragic episode! You will be missed dearly shay!

  30. Thanks, for the heads up, the pain is easing up a bit I'm going to try and be an realist, and accept the fact that this show is their baby, and roll with it, this by no means is not going to make me stop watching this show, it should continue to be one of my favorite shows:)

  31. What a great episode, even as upsetting as it was. I absolutely loved the little moments that took us back to interactions with Shay we never saw. I'll miss her, of course, but I'm interested to see where the show goes from here. I never thought I'd come back from last season's death on The Good Wife and that show just got stronger and stronger in its wake.

What a heartbreaking episode, though. I cried through the entire thing, but kind of fell apart when Dawson admitted her "guilt" on the counselor's couch. How do you come back from that?

  32. You're welcome! I know how hard it is losing a character you have come to love,it sucks plain and simple. I thought the article would help you understand why they did what they did.Not that you would like it but...Glad you're feeling a bit better! :)

  33. That episode was really freaking sad and emotional it really got to me especialy at the end with Severide crying while watching that recording :( tough it was probablly the saddest CF episode so far it was also one of the best episodes

  34. That's terrible. It makes me not want to watch the show. Shay was definitely one of the more interesting characters on the show; if they could find a story for all of their male characters (many of whom are far less interesting than Shay), they should have known what to do with Shay. It's also frustrating that they don't do a good job keeping the female characters, who seem to have a much higher turnover rate than the male characters.
